  1. I'll send you my original prodigy, you can go make a jump with him wearing it. the embarassment of getting outflown by nothing should dent his ego enough he might listen.
  2. Looks really nice. A couple of small details could be cleaned up or enhanced. the thru rods on the seat bottom alternate colors, but up the seat back they do not, I would alternate the colors in keeping with the alternating colors of the seat sections. I think I would also have the major thru rods that terminate inside the frame penetrate all the way thru the frame, to give the same joint look as between the sections of the seat. I would include the spacers on the lower portion of the frame in this as well. if possible I would try to hollow out the areas (or some of the areas) between the major thru rods to lighten up the look of those massive pieces. (maybe just the outside frame pieces?) Again it looks really nice and is a piece of functional artwork.
  3. The appache add on handles in the video consisted of a french link that was placed around the reserve cable between the handle and housing that was connected to loop located outside the suit. (cutaway was the same) It showed the apache reserve side add on handle being pulled on while in a flying configuration in several different directions (according to the directions and others) with about 50 pounds of force applied and no reserve activation. it showed that without the suit in place but using the apache attachment directly that it took about forty pounds of force to activate the reserve and only because the real reserve handle was able to come out its pocket and the force was then transferred into a normal pull configuration. It also showed that it took about forty pounds of force to pull the cutaway cables using the apache add on handles.
  4. I'm pretty sure scissors will win in a battle with a wingsuit too.
  5. since he's stuck in Spain, I'll take his spot in Nicaragua!
  6. to raise it for coach jumps! how many jumpers have really developed enough awareness at 100 jumps to handle three separate tasks (keeping themselves safe and in the proper position, keeping track of what the student is doing and operating a camera)? at 200 jumps? at 500? my opinion is the recommendation should be at jump number where 70% of the jumpers have probably developed the awareness necessary to handle all three tasks simultaneously.
  7. I thought you wanted the time for the NSTIWTIWGTD commentary for the seven cameras mounted on various appendages.
  8. First I would like to thank the event organizers, host location, and sponsors for putting on this event. I think this event brought out the best in our competitive nature, everyone was interested in doing their best and in sharing information to help others to do their best. Everyone did a great job in dealing with the challenges presented during the event from the weather (two out of three rain days in sunny southern California?) to the Satellite/GPS issues. I think it is great that some people are getting recognized for making a great jump in the competition, I also think it is terrible that some people who probably had a great jump in the competition, are not even recognized as having been there. (Personally, I have no doubt that my jumps were not up there with the top performances, but it would have been interesting to see where they ranked.) The difficulties encountered with the GPS recording of results should be taken as a warning that relying on technology to judge our results will not always work. One third of the people competing in the event had no usable results recorded during the event. (there were 42 competitors, 25 show up on the PPC event page) Everyone (I believe) made a minimum of four jumps and most made more. Even amongst the competitors who were fortunate enough to have at least one usable result recorded, roughly half of their jumps were not recorded. If this event had been a part of the USPA nationals what would have happened? We should be asking do we want to rely on on this much technology for wingsuit competitions? I am looking forward to the next competition being organized at Elsinore and seeing what form it will take based on the many ideas discussed on Friday. I would vote for a set of 3-way formations with and without docks on our bellies organized into a draw similar to 4-way formation skydiving. And that as wingsuiting progresses in the future add another member and the pool would be expanded to include backflying.
  9. Pulling in full flight is not the answer to the problem you experienced. Making sure that you maintain symmetry when collapsing the wings is what you need to learn. If you went into a flat spin during a practice touch, then you did not maintain the symmetry of the wing surfaces, and you did not react quickly enough to counter the asymmetry. Pulling in full flight is an asymmetric maneuver and you have to be able to correctly counter the asymmetry as its occurring or else you will be deploying from an asymmetric position resulting in a poor opening.
  10. I'm with Andreea, 100 jumps and a heads up skydiver.
  11. I think he is trying to dig in deeper. if he was trying to dig out he would have said "Nicky Whelan is smokin' hot. She's almost my ideal woman. Hmmm, I think I know someone that looks kinda like her"
  12. edit replace put two spaces in the find what box and one space in the replace with box, replace all. suggest saving it first, verifying the results afterwards then saving the results
  13. I think your answer can be found in the title of thread a little ways down the page, "When will WSers grow up?"
  14. so aesthetics outweigh functionality and safety? with the hinge on the left, the box can be opened and the video camera removed without removing the still camera. and the screw snag hazard is on the inside where its less likely to ever come into play.
  15. I want to see you do it! after I have landed under my canopy in your backyard.
  16. I'm sure you can find someone witha video camera to hang around on a jump like this
