  1. someone has to have it. It was just too cool not to be more widely distributed.
  2. I saw a very cool video a few years ago which combined the jump from fandango with a spinning mal with a hard cutaway. I tried to find it on skydivingmovies.com but could not. Has anyone else seen this and if so where can I find it.
  3. First: Take a canopy course and get another 300 jumps. Second: Keep your turns to 90 or less. A stiletto at that wingloading has a very quick recovery arc. This means in order to generate and maintain the energy for a high performace landing, you have to initiate your turn very low. This gives you very little (no) room for miscalculation. The stiletto is a fun fast turning canopy but in my opinion it is not a swooper.
  4. 2.12 on the Xaos 27 is a bit on the light side. I load my Xaos at 2.4 and have tonns of power and very little riser pressure. Try to add some weight and see what that does for you.
  5. Great. Believe what you want, and do what you want with what is yours. Just don't take what is mine. Who paid for your college scholarship? The Dept of Defense. I signed a contract pledging military service after college. "Freedom to Contract." See also "Quid pro Quo." Hmmm - I think the DoD is 100% paid for by the taxpayers. Last time I checked that was the case. And you said in an earlier thread that you went to a taxpayer subsidized state university. So you had no qualms about taking a taxpayer subsidized handout but you don't want to pay when your turn comes. You'll make a great lawyer. Whis logic like that you would make a lousy one.
  6. You are a libertairian, as most right thinking people should be.

  8. The only way to win at that game is not to play. My wife got tired of waiting for me to ask her the question, (7 years) so she just put her aunts ring on her left ring finger and told me we were getting married.
  9. Do a search. There are lots of threads about this topic. Readers digest version 7 open nice, stabel in deep breaks 9 better glide ratio, more flare

  11. I know what you mean. A few years ago I got sick in August, you know, World Freefall Convention month?!? I was thinking to myself, "this sucks," but what can you expect after 10 days of constant, non-stop skydiving and partying, with little to no sleep. I hope you feel better. Hutch
  12. Hop in your time machine and go to the 1999 World Freefall Convention
  13. A busted joint is much worse than a broken bone. I have broken my tib/fib, no prob. broke my ankle and a lost a 10 degrees of range of motion. Broke my back (twice) no problem. Dislocated my shoulder, it still hurts 4 years later. Tore my ACL and my OTHER knee hurt so much from compensating that I had to get if fixed. It works as good as new now but when I snowboard and kneel in the snow it starts to ache and I swear that I can feel the titanium screws.
  14. Try both. Take a wrap with your break lines then push apart on your rears. This both slows your decent rate and flatens out your glide angle.
  15. A 420 is 155% more dangerous than a 270. I would recommend against it.
  16. "It's like saying "I bench press 150lbs, and I think I'm going to try 155." What a girlie man!
  17. Skydiving: To those who have, no explanation is necessary. To those who haven't, no explanation is possible.
  18. "The "bowtie" issue is a five minute fix, just set the brakes about an inch deeper and problem solved." Per Chris Martin of Precision: Another even easier work around is NOT to pull the slider out to favor the nose. When the slider covers the center cells it allows the outside cells to inflate first and then they fly to the center, causing the bowtie. If this happens just tweek the rears and it will pop right out. Regarding packing: the 27 has much more pack volume that the 21. My 98ft 21 packed up like a 9 cell 120 my 98ft 27 packs up like a 135+. Openings on the 27 are a bit quicker that the 21 and tend to search a bit. That said the Xaos 21 was the best opening canopy I have ever jumped. When getting ready to demo the 27 I asked Chris what to expect, he told me that it would not be as docile as my 21. I thought that was funny because I have never heard of a Xbraced canopy loaded 2.4 referred to as "docile." It will be much more twitchy than the 21. I got a big surprise when I when to loosen my chest straps with the breaks in my hands. (note: loosen chest strap BEFORE releasing breaks) On landing it will not dive as much as the 21 and has loads more slow speed lift.
  19. "One last question - and forgive me, but I do not swoop, so I don't know these things - if a swooper is doing more than 180, can't she/he get a smaller canopy and do the same thing with 180?" no
  20. I cant listen to that without getting a tear in my eye.
  21. I like UFC better, I don't like the stoppages when the fighters get mixed up with the ropes
  22. It has nothing to do with guns. Really bad exmaple! Swooping is not a crime, bad ass flying is. It is exactly like guns. "Guns (270s) don't kill people, people do" (guns are legal in the U.S., you must be a European)
