Phil1111 911 #1385 July 6, 2016 rehmwa***No, actually I disagree. His support for the Donald isn't unrestricted, he just likes him better than Hillary. And he's making his objections to the Donald in public, making them part of the discussion. This is clearly important to him, but not a deal-breaker. Either that, or he figures that the Donald won't actually torture when it comes down to it, and simply wants him to be honest about it up front. Wendy P. ^^^^ this I can admire a guy that has made his choice, but doesn't just blindly support the entire party line. We have enough sycophants. The rest of the right and the entire left could do with more of this. The fact that he is talking to specific issues instead of just fanatically playing D vs R is heartening. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yes to both. Its unfortunate that US voters have such a pair of bad choices this election cycle. Most mainstream voters believe that both candidates are natural liars and not to be trusted. Meanwhile public perceptions of the state sink to: "New low: Gallup poll says only 52% are ‘extremely proud’ to be Americans http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/jul/3/new-low-gallup-poll-says-only-52-are-extremely-pro/
ryoder 1,384 #1386 July 8, 2016 Republican Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska will miss his party’s national convention in Cleveland later this month because he is planning to “take his kids to watch some dumpster fires across the state,” Sasse’s spokesman said Thursday. These dumpster fires, the spokesman added, “enjoy more popularity than the current front-runners” of the major political parties. rehmwa 2 #1398 July 13, 2016 gowlerkShe is being very partisan, and will probably regret it. Kind of makes you wonder if there should be a mandatory retirement age for SC judges. There is in Canada. the point of age aside (though it may very well be part of the issue) - she's clearly lost her judgment (in terms of her role as a justice). Public appearance of total loss of political objectivity is a legitimate reason to insist on retirement. It's sad. (of course she is very partisan in execution of the job, but in that case she can at least cover than in terms of judicial opinions, etc in a professional way) Even if one agrees with her comments, as a judge, she now would have to recuse herself from anything that has to do with this election. And if Trump were to win, she'd have to recuse herself from any case involving the exec branch. Imagine if Thomas or someone were to publicly make the same comments about Hillary..... our top leaders talking about leaving a sinking ship....this is just terrible ...
