  1. "Can you name one case of a criminal using a bayonet? " I bet you can find lots of cases where a criminal used a bayonet that was not attached to a rifle. Probably find even more where criminal used a kitchen knife. You don't have to outrun the bear.

    LRR tires

I had some Michelins on my Honda that got great gas mileage, but the wet traction was lousy. Got a set of Bridgestones that have much better wet traction, but about 10% less gas mileage. Worth it in my opinion. I'd be interested to hear how the LRR tires do on a wet road. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  3. That pretty well sums it up. You don't have to outrun the bear.

    Story time!

Once upon a time there was a one-legged man and his loyal dog Neo Sporin. He went to Wok his dog at a chinese opium den You don't have to outrun the bear.
  5. You should never jump in bad conditions just to stay current, so "good job" on your decision. One thing I like to look at, in addition to winds on the ground, is wind at 3000 feet. If it's so strong a few thousand feet above the ground that I'll have to land off if I get a little downwind, or if the wind changes direction drastically between the ground and a couple of thousand feet up, indicating strong wind shear, I'll be more likely to sit on the ground. Of course, if you pick the spot right, you won't get downwind, but I like to have some choice about what direction I'm flying. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  6. You only need to go the Phase2 to keep me happy. Despite what the stove manufacturers say, there's nothing wrong with uncooked cookie dough. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  7. The judge wants me to decrypt my hard drive and tell the cops what's on it?? Uh, sure, but I think it's just some cookie and pie recipes. Would you like me to search my closet and tell you if there's any contraband in there while I'm at it? You don't have to outrun the bear.
  8. That article doesn't talk about home protection, just about suicide. Executive summary is that a gun in the home is a risk factor for successful suicide. Based on the article referenced, no comparison to gun use for home defense can be made. Carry on. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  9. Now Romney doesn't have to release his tax returns. Chuck will scan them with his x-ray vision and tell us if there's anything we don't already know. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  10. I just bought a pair of Wrangler's at K-Mart for 8.99 Some of my others are Levi's. When they get a hole in the knee, I take a back pocket off and use it for a patch. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16642369 This goes a long way toward answering your question. Especially the last paragraph of the article. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  12. Could somebody tell me why the new pipeline can't follow the route of the existing pipeline from Alberta to Oklahoma? You don't have to outrun the bear.
  13. I like my women like I like my coffee: hot and ready first thing in the morning. I like my women like I like my coffee: strong and cheap. I like my women to bring me my coffee..... You don't have to outrun the bear.
  14. http://www.ntsb.gov/aviationquery/brief.aspx?ev_id=20040608X00756&key=1 Turbocharger failure can be an emergency. Above is one example. To the OP: good job getting out of a not-so-perfectly good airplane. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  15. There are a lot of guys with AK-47 rifles in Afghanistan who would disagree with "JDAM - end of story". It's been said that the best weapon for guerrilla warfare is a knife, second best is a rifle. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  16. I really need it. Just keep that in mind, in case that's the way the vote turns out. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  17. From a statistical point of view, 4/24 is too small a sample size to draw conclusions. If XYZ dropzone had 400 fatalities out of a total of 2400, that would be more meaningful. e.g. A few years ago, two skydivers were killed in a canopy collision at a boogie that takes place for one week, once a year. Those two deaths were about 10 percent of all skydiving deaths in the U.S. that year, but the incident really depended on one guy doing one dumb move. It's useful to look at every incident to see if anything can be learned, but raw percentages can be misleading. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  18. This bill is H.R.3261. Currently it's in the House Judiciary Committee. Regardless of how you feel about it, there is only one way you can affect it's passage or rejection. Write your congressman. Please remember that when you write or email your congressman, he doesn't read your letter. What really happens is an aide classifies your letter as FOR or AGAINST and puts it in a basket. The basket with the biggest stack wins (except for the influence of the lobbyist who took the congressman to lunch). So don't write a long letter with lots of logic in it. Just send a letter or email that says: "I hope you will vote _____ (for or against) SOPA, H.R.3261. Thanks for your consideration." If enough people do this, it will have an influence. 19. "Unless your employees believe that they are getting a good deal, they'll leave you. " Anyone who believes this should make two trips: one to the coal fields of West Virginia, and one to Jamaica. This is indeed the way it's supposed to work, but some people really don't have the option to leave and seek employment elsewhere. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  20. Newt will be toast when he decides he's made enough money off his campaign to last for a while. Poor Republicans. Right now they're down to a Libertarian running as a Republican and a Democrat running as a Republican. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  21. You mean a connection other than Abraham?? You don't have to outrun the bear.
  22. Dan Kahan the law professor ? At any rate, a better background in science frequently leads to skepticism. Not that they don't believe it, just that they look for evidence rather than accept what CNN told them. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  23. and ,of course, the venerable F.XVIII, which has largely been replaced by the AN-2 You don't have to outrun the bear.
  24. What you describe is probably some kind of "step through" where you either stepped through the lines after landing or flipped the bag through the likes when placing it on the packing floor. If you could steer OK then keeping it is fine, but if your steering lines hang up in the twisted lines you could be in trouble. Sounds like you checked everything and made a good decision. All's well that ends well. To learn more about how to recognize this sort of problem and fix it when you pack, get a local rigger to work with you. Ask him to show you how different twists and tangles can occur when you pick up your gear in the field and lay it down for packing. The internet is no place to learn this, but a rigger can easily show you what to look for and how to fix it so you don't pack a malfunction for yourself. You don't have to outrun the bear.
  25. Now there's an idea for some free publicity for your favorite dropzone. Just call the local news and give them a tip that skydivers will be protesting at such-and-such airport this weekend. Anybody that wants to join the protest can donate the going rate for a tandem and go on a tandem ride to view the condition of the earth from two miles high. You don't have to outrun the bear.
