  1. Hey dude, In my personal opinion, seriously consider the Sabre 2, it's awesome. I put a few jumps on a demo one and really enjoyed flying it. It opens nice and soft and responds well to riser input. You might also want to demo the Pilot from Aerodyne and the Icarus Safire 2. These are also both tapered canopies and for my money the Safire 2 rocked! I've jumped the Nitron 150 and 135 and would love to own one someday. I was getting unbelievably soft and on heading openings out of it and the canopy responds really well to riser, toggle and harness input. It was also really stable for wingsuit flight and i loved the way it dived hard and the beginner swoops that i was getting out of it were awesome. However, the Nitron is fully elliptical and if you're profile is correct you currently jump a PD 190. Bearing in mind that I haven't seen you fly or land i don't reccommend going from a 190 square to a fully elliptical 150 at 100 jumps. Again, IMO stick with the tapered canopies for a while
  2. Riaan, No matter what you've been told Tonto is right my bru, the Hurrican is fully elliptical and ground hungry. You might also want to contact Karl Meyer at JSC here in Johannesburg. He's running a canopy coaching course at the moment which i'm sure you would get some benefit from. PM him if you're interested, he posts as KarlM. Be careful out there dude. I broke myself on a 170 square canopy doing 90 degree turns to double fronts. Hospital time ain't fun and really f**ks up your jumping goals. peace PJ Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
  3. Nice! Man Cato looks real purdy. I'm recovering from a busted fib/tib at the moment but when i'm jumping again in January i would love to come down that way and bust a few with you guys. PJ Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
  4. Whatup Kai, I put around 50 jumps on a fairly new Safire 2 149 not so long ago. I standard pro-packed it with no worries and got nice, on heading openings every time. What i found most helpful was just hanging the nose (as opposed to stuffing it into the pack job) and rolling the tail nice and tight. take it easy PJ Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky

  7. Wanna become a better skydiver? Listen to Brian Germain. Not only have his words had a positive on effect on me and countless other skydivers, he's a really nice guy too. The man has 10000 jumps, an amazing mind and a good heart. Keep the info coming Brian, the smart ones will listen. peace PJ Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky

  10. That's great advice! In fact as you progress in your jump career you'll find that being smooth, controlled and relaxed is the key to good flying. The last thing that a brilliant free flyer and LO friend of mine says to our group before exit is "slow is fast and fast is smooth". Good luck! Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
  11. I never did a tandem but i'd like to thank my AFF-I Tonto for giving me the gift of the sky. He's still one of the main driving forces in my skydiving today and has been instrumental in getting me through my injury. Big up t
  12. I think tandems are a good idea. However, in South Africa, afaik, we don't offer tandem progression and for me it was a cost issue combined with the fact that i had wanted to skydive since i was about 4 and knew i'd stick with it - so i went straight into AFF. just my .2 cents Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky

    Unusual Experiences

Hmmmm...not too much that's wild and exciting. I've been shot. I swam with 9 or 10 wild dolphins. Watched two whales do their mating "dance" in the sea one morning as paddled past them to go surfing. Had more than one close encounter with a shark while sitting on my surboard. Jumped the legal bridge four times. Smoked opium over a candle flame with a little Thai man named "Dr O" in his hut at the base of a waterfall in the far north of Thailand. That was pretty cool. 15. A guy walks into a bar with his pet monkey. He orders a drink and while he's drinking, the monkey jumps all around the place. The monkey grabs some Olives off the bar and eats them, then grabs some sliced limes and eats them, then jumps onto the pool table, grabs one of the billiard balls, sticks it in his mouth, and to everyone's amazement, somehow swallows it whole. The bartender screams at the guy, "Did you see what your monkey just did?" The guy says "No, what?" The bartender screams "He just ate the cue ball off my pool table - whole!" "Yeah, that doesn't surprise me," replied the guy, "he eats everything in sight, the little bastard. Sorry. I'll pay for the cue ball and stuff." He finishes his drink, pays his bill, pays for the stuff the monkey ate, then leaves. Two weeks later he's in the bar again, and has his monkey with him. He orders a drink and the monkey starts running around the bar again. While the man is finishing his drink, the monkey finds a maraschino cherry on the bar. He grabs it, sticks it up his butt, pulls it out, and eats it. Then the monkey finds a peanut, and again sticks it up his butt, pulls it out, and eats it. The bartender is disgusted. "Did you see what your monkey did now?" he asks. "No, what?" replies the guy. "Well, he stuck a maraschino cherry and a peanut up his butt, pulled it out, and ate it!" said the bartender. Yeah, that doesn't surprise me," replied the guy. "He still eats everything in sight, but ever since that cue ball, he measures everything first. Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky

  19. Dunno how new it is but after watching a very good Guns 'n' Roses documentary the other day i'm keen to check out some stuff by Slash's band Velvet Revolver. Might not be for everybody though... Plus there's a new Depeche Mode remixes CD that's just been released, pretty good. I think it's all their stuff from 81 - 04. Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
  20. Hey Liz, I did about an hour and a half of coached tunnel time while i was at Perris, no camps but one on one coaching was just as good. I spent time in there with Fritz, Mike and Eli and all i can say is wow. I focused mostly on back and sitfly, docks, flips and transitions and it helped not only my flying but my general awareness of air flow IMMENSELY. Perris operates their tunnel at slightly lower speeds than Orlando but the HD guys that i watched seemed to have no trouble. Plus the one way radio system that Alchemy are using in the tunnel and the sky is an unbelievable learning tool. Hope that helps
