  1. Were you talking about the time you had to sit on a lawn chair in the middle of the road entrance to the dropzone? Man people suck _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  2. *ahem, ahem*. I have a friend who might go in on a business deal with that ticket
  3. This has nothing to do with this situation what so ever. This particular Amendment says Congress (Govt) can't make laws that restrict freedom of speech. That newspaper is not government. In business, you can have more than one stipulation along with employment for exchange for money. this is not to say the newspaper is right though. Employers have fired people in the past against their own Bylaws which led to lawsuits. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  4. The navy's way of selecting prospective sailors for chief is pretty much why many (including junior sailors) think of them as prima-donnas. E-1 thru E-6 promotions require time at present rank plus technical knowledge plus evaluation marks. For E-7, those three are just to qualify for a selection board where a board of Chiefs check out your military records and decide your future. The navy's philosophy is the chief is a position between the enlisted and officers and whose purpose is the welfare and treatment of the junior sailors. Also as advisors of their particular/former job(the E-6 LPO runs the shop). The Chiefs' Mess is a real entity recognized by the Department of the Navy and morale of a ship is greatly determined by the management and effectiveness of such said Mess. A troubled sailor will see them before they see The Man. But, it does make some of them prima-donnas and I think that a lot of them don't stop to think that things are done differently elsewhere. And, I hate those bell bottoms two _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  5. I think it's gay too. According to the navy surveys, the reason for the camoflage was to satisfy the "me too" desire of the sailors. Some actually look at the southeast asia pattern associated the Army with desire. During MIO ops in the persian gulf, we ship boarders found the high snagability of BDU's on a Naval Warship quite annoying and dangerous sometimes. I hope the Navy lets us keep our coveralls during underway periods. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  6. During University, I have found that society dumps the wierdest off-the-wall people into the Humanities department and have them teach us. They always try to push their weirdo theories on us students like if they were running for some office. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

  10. I saw someone doing something similar to one of the manifest ladies. he made circular motions with his hand an inch or so over the inside of her wrist. " 'something' energy" he called it. "convection energy", I thought to myself: slightly spread fingers allow heat to escape from body because they act like a radiator next to an extra sensitive area of your body. Didn't say anything though. Didn't want to be a poor sport and destroy the magic. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

  13. A lot of journalist sensationalism it seems. The writer seems to forget (or sidestep) the fact that gays are not allowed in the military at all. The Don't ask/Don't tell policy isn't about gay rights and protection. It's about preventing an active witchhunt. Nobody is allowed to ask if one is gay. Now the "Next of Kin" stuff is utter bullshit. You can put anyone you want on your "page 2's". it doesn't have to be a blood relative. How would they know if one's next of kin is a partner without asking illegal questions. There's a lot of other questional stuff on that report but I don't have facts. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

    1st new house

Trying to buy my first home. It's hard in Kaleeeforneeaah. I envy you greatly
  20. I did the Greek thing in college. I've also seen some new fraternities come on campus. first thing is the Sorority that is being started seems to be a National one since she is bringing it from an another campus. You'll get a lot of support from them in helping you guys organize. Now disclaimer. . .It's a lot of work. You got to win the people over before you can even get a charter on campus. Just like taking an extra class; a lot of stuff to memorise. I assume you guys want to get on the Panhellenic Council (or whatever your university calls it there) so you have another set of guidelines to memorise. Most universities requires that if you want your group to participate in Rush and such. But on the good side, you will be a founding sister for the new chapter(which means your name probably will be a requirement to learn for future pledges from here till possibly forever) and almost guaranteed to be an officer. It takes a while for a charter to be awarded(might take a year) and if you are a freshman founding member, you will probably realize the sorority of your dreams by the end of your senior year. Oh yes: Pros: you will meet A LOT of people. I could never get across my campus without being stopped sereral times. You'll meet lifetime friends. sometimes connections. Socials and the parties(of course). Most fraternities and sororities have some sort of community service if you loke that stuff. ect ect. Unique for you: satisfaction at help creating a new chapter on an organization that has been around since dirt(Pi Beta Phi I believe is at least mid to late 1800's), you are deciding the personality of the chapter. Cons: can be very expensive. you have chapter and national fees to pay. National fees are like our USPA fees. to support them. charter fees are for socials and costs of running the sorority. greek societies are a lot of work. They are an entity that requires TLC and initiative from the members. Lot of stuff involved. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  21. . . .or halt skydiving ops. Out here in Otay, there's a lot of winding roads that they like to race on. A couple times they had to be life-flighted out. It's easier to fly them out here. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
