  1. At 21 for a low, I'm sure it would be cool enough, although Amanduh may be right when it comes to accumulation.
  2. White Christmas in Houston??? Could it actually be? According to weather.com it might happen Houston Weather Forecast Aggie Dave, you really screwed us , with that other post, talking about how warm it was down here. The low for Fri. is supposed to be 21.
  3. I understand you guy's arguments, I just don't get it. Sorry, I'm thick like that. When you have someone who believes in a Biblical version of Creation, I don't think its possible to convince them otherwise. Faith. Strong word. The evidence of things not seen or measureable. It comes down to that. Thanks for the info, though. Hopefully we can agree to disagree on this one. I'm sure I would be just burning up my keyboard to try to convince you otherwise. The one thing that I do find very ironic is that Darwin even started to doubt his theories in the end before his death. I quote from his autobiography that he wrote in 1876. "Another source of conviction in the existence of God, connected with the reason, and not with the feelings, impresses me as having much more weight. This follows from the extreme difficulty or rather impossibility of conceiving this immense and wonderful universe, including man, with his capacity of looking far backwards and far into the future, as the result of blind chance. When thus reflecting, I feel compelled to look to a first cause, having an intelligent mind in some degree analogous to that of man, I deserve to be called a Theist. This conclusion was strong in my mind about the time, as far as a I can remember, when I wrote the ‘Origin of Species’, and it is since that time that it has, gradually, with many fluctuations, become weaker. But then arises the thought-- Can the mind of man, which has, as I fully believe, been fully developed from a mind as low as that possessed by the lowest animals, be trusted when it draws such grand conclusion."
  4. My .02: You can't prove either. For me personally, it takes less faith to believe that someone did all this on purpose than a hundred trillion coincidences happened at precisely the right time. As far as the 6 days that everyone on here was talking about. It does say that in the Bible, but it also says that 1 day to God is the same as a 10,000 years. I don't remember chapter and verse, but trust me its in there (KJV). It also says that some things you will never understand until you get to Heaven. Its seems to me that its more logical to believe in the old earth through Creation. As far as evolution, they can't prove that either. I read daily of new things coming out that prove that the earth is older and older(which supports evolution), but I have yet to read of anything coming out that talks about a discovery that botches the old earth support of evolution. Typical liberal media. Think Evolution is correct? Think Creation is correct?Polls taken in the late 1400's would overwhelmingly show that the average human thought the earth was flat, until C Columbus blew that theory. I wonder if some futurists on DZ.com will uncover this post in 500 years and discuss how stupid we were to believe in .......
  5. That is so cool. I'm still trying to talk to my mom about it. I guess the biggest test of if they liked it? Did she buy the $99 come back again coupon? Do mother-in-laws count? We took her on our second tandem and she wanted to go up too. I couldn't think of anyplace I would rather have her than falling at 120 mph to her dea......... I mean having the time of her life. (why do parachutes have to be so reliable) (wife, mother-in-law, wife's friend, me)
  6. All of those ideas sound great. Let's throw something on the calendar. That way we can start making arrangements and such. I don't mind driving a little. Heck, I drive all the way down to Spaceland and thats over an hour. Now that we've (my wife and I) started the student training, we will be going down there about every two weeks or so. Anyone have an idea about who can host this little grill party? The house that we are building is almost done so our house is pretty much torn up right now getting ready to move around the 5th of January. If someone wanted to host this month or next, I would be willing to host in February or when we get settled in. My new house is in Conroe, so all you Bryan boys and girls wouldn't have all that far to drive. Someone set a date and place!!
  7. That is so right. On friday night I was heading down the freeway on my bike and I came up on two 18 wheelers, sidebyside one in the left lane and one in the right. I was in the middle. They were going about 60 on the freeway and I continued my 65-70 cruising speed. As I started to pull in between them at the very back, I started to get some weird vibes, so I backed off. I had my hands on the front brake as well as the horn. Sure enough, the idiot on the left just started coming over to the middle lane. No blinker, no waiting or whatever. I immediately slammed on the brakes and blasted that little tiny horn as hard as I could press it. I guess he either heard it or saw me, because he immediately swerved back into his lane. The blast from the back of his truck almost sent me into the next lane. Needless to say, I backed off, flashed him and let him come over. Then I moved over to the left and got out of there. That has got to be my biggest pet peeve, those 18 wheelers that just cut over. And a close second is the wind buffet when you are behind one on a bike. And the automatic left turn traffic signals that don't ever turn, because the bike is not heavy enough to trip the sensor at the intersection. Wait a minute, why do I ride a bike again?
  8. Whatever happened to the Houston Steak Night?
  9. While hardly being qualified to give advice on skydiving gear, I know what keeps me warm on those 30 degree days while standing in cold freezing water. Wader pants. Hunters/Fishermen have been using them for a while. They are made of lightweight fleece and have stirups on the bottom to keep them from riding up when wearing something over them. You can buy them from Cabelas.com Wader pants for around $30. They wick really well and you will never get cold. They are about the thickness of light lightweight sweats and just as comfy. I would wear them for the stirups alone.
  10. I know I'm not the only one wondering..... .....Where did you get that $1800 from? I thought all skydivers were broke.
  11. I agree. It was originally done by Jesus. It was taught to early Christians to symbolically show their new life. Going down in the water and coming up a new creature, after you had accepted that Jesus was God's Son. None of the main Christian faiths believe that Baptism is actually more than a ceremony. The guy doing the ceremony that day was John. Hence, John the Baptist. As far as infants being baptised, it seems silly, since it was not taught that way originally.
  12. Probably so. But they didn't need to, since we have armed most of the world at one point or another. And with those arms came the training to use them. Uh, Politics. Damned if you do and Damned if you don't.
  13. You got mine. I will pray for you and your family as well as little Ryan. Excuse me as I sneak into my two kids rooms and watch them sleep for a bit.
  14. Thats not the way we do it. Here is an example of what happens when a US carrier has problems enroute Diversion We also had one have to land on Midway Island a couple of months ago. The crew slept in a hanger, while they were waiting on the mechanics and parts for the engine.
  15. You know one thing that I just don't get--When it was time for war, it was almost a unamious vote for war from Congress, but when we look back, it is Bush's fault that we were duped. Why isn't someone going after the idiot intelligence "experts" that really was at fault. As far as WMD, I look at motive, opportunity and availability. Sadam had them all. He has used gases before, so it is very reasonable to assume that he has them still. They are still digging things out of the desert, like mig29's and things that were supposedly not there either.
