I must be a horrible orchid caretaker because I bought one, researched all about their care, changed its substrate accordingly, kept fans going because I read that they like circulating air...basically did everything I thought I was supposed to do, and I killed the thing. keep them in a cool place (mine are in the basement laundry room) Water them thoroughly once a week. I place mine in the sink and just about drown them with slightly warm water. When you notice new growth starting, begin feeding them with a very slight amount of orchid food with each watering. They are "light seekers" NOT 'light lovers" so make sure they get nothing but dappled light, not direct. Mine get flouresent light from my shop lights about 4 feet above them, with them shaded by other plants. Orchids bloom for one month a year, and then the dormancy cycle starts again. Pot likes attention, orchids like to be forgotten. I used to work for a greenhouse, we had one whole house of orchids, once a week we would go in and squirt a hose all over the place in a haphazard kind of way and they grew like crazy. We just got back from zhills where we rented a small trailer from Pip and Judy [email protected] It was clean, had a queen size bed, clean linens and towels, fridge, micro wave and dinette area. There is something to be said for Facebook's ability to hide/unfriend/never friend the people that bug you. (edit to add: come to think, Squeak unfriended me on there so I'm with Remi ... this post really is rather suspect ) For me, although I wasn't on his list, I don't post here as often for a couple of reasons with a big one being the lack of anything I want to comment on most of the time. again, if you sent money to his girlfriend, you do have a way of tracking her. My guess is he owed her money too, and was using other peoples money to make good on the more pressing debt. If you put money in HER account SHE owes you money. She may have a job, a home, and a way of paying you back. I figured a guy imposing his name on his wife was unfair so prior to getting married my wife and I considered a merged last name (none of which sounded good) and cross hyphenation (Mr Jones and Ms Smith would become Mr Jones-Smith and Mrs Smith-Jones). In the end we both agreed that keeping separate last names was simpler professionally and less hassle.
