I was a devout and practicing Catholic. I NEVER missed Ma'ss. I was on our City Council when my priest was arrested for molesting a 12 year old in another City, in another State. My Police Chief called me to say that Father X was caught in the act, and the Bishops from each diocese had agreed that he would be banned from an appointment where 'families were involved after lengthy institutionalization and rehab.I I was asked to keep the whole thing hush, hush. I thought (naively) that this would happen. Low and behold 16 months later Father X is back in a parish, serving families, training altar boys. They came to our Church to ask for donations for our poor priests the same weekend that the newspaper said that our diocese was 'outing' the disgraced priests of our area. Of course the list included only priests who were dead, or in a comatose state with alzheimers. Father X's name was not on the list. It is illegal in most states to inform fellow employees if someone is HIV positive, or has AID's so why shouldn't all medical stay private? I'm pretty sure that you are completely right. The new right to privacy laws even prevent colleges from telling parents their childrens grades. Even if they are paying for the education. I love it when the spider sack opens and all of the baby spiders catch a ride on a slight breeze. Millions of spiders in the air going who knows where? It is the coolest sight! I've only witnessed it a couple of times, but I remember once particularly well. In Wisconsin it is a pre requistite that you are drunk when entering the bar, and drunker when you leave. You may leave your snowmobile in the drive, on the sidewalk or being attended by your 7 year old kid, who may or may not be in the bar, but if he is in the bar, he may work behind the bar waiting on and serving customers. I don't know how to make a site 'clicky' but the official site of the USGS is a good place to go for information about earthquakes. They have listed this as a 7.0 after review from seismologists. It says that the quake was on the New Zealand South Island. There is also a place that you can go on this site to add your experience with the quake. They gather information for future review. Gosh, you guys are making me blush. Thanks for the good memories of the WFFC. Since I was the "staff" for the planning stage each year, I thank you for your kind comments. During the actual event we had 150 employees and 300 volunteers. During the year long planning there were 2 of us who worked part time, on a volunteer basis. Many of the employees and volunteers were skydivers who spent LOTS of time and effort to make sure that it was a huge success. Yes, it took LOTS of cash. If we had about 20 decent backers we could do it again. If we had about 50 indecent backers it could be alot of fun! Couch Freaks is coming up, and as far as I am concerned it is the closest thing to WFFC out there! I'm going, I hope to see alot of you there! edited to add: There is a Facebook page that some very nice person (not me) started. It's called World Free Fall Convention friends. Check it out, add your pics and comments.
