1. If your asking you're NOT ready .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
2. Hope you don't mind, but i'd thought i should pipe in with some info: Class 1 - Student Canopy - .5 to .75 Lbs/SqFt wing loading. Class 2 - Docile - .75 to 1.00 Lbs/SqFt wing loading. Class 3 - Mid Range - 1.0 to1.25lbs/SqFt wing loading. Class 4 - High performance - 1.25 to 1.65 Lbs/SqFt wing loading. Class 5 - Extreme - 1.65 to 2.00 Lbs/SqFt wing loading. Class 6 - BALLISTIC ! ! ! - 2.0 to 2.4 Lbs/SqFt wing loading. Gathered from the Icarus website .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
3. *** What makes you think your DZCI is qualified to make a judgement call on your potential canopy selection eg: my DZCI is a classic accuracy jumper. Your earlier posts suggest you aren't capable of flying the XF to any level of proficiency( they are not the easiest canopy to swoop and require technique ).I've been jumping them for 9 years. Do the canopy course hopefully it'll open your eyes to what is possible with practice and patience. Please stick with the 139 it's @ a more than healthy WL and i can guarantee,it will pay off in the end. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
4. I had the opportunity to try this technique for myself and as others have said it worked like a charm. My question is though, does wingloading play a part or is wingloading irrelevant. Skimming through this thread of the skydivers that have had success using this technique the lowest wingloading i've found was 1.4ish for the record i'm loading a shade under 2.2. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

6. It's said alot on here, but demo what you can (10 jumps/canopy is a demo benchmark imo). Like Dave mentioned the PD storm is worth a good look but i have no personal experience myself but everyone that i've met that jumps one loves them. 9 cells i wouldn't rule out the Icarus Safires mk1 or 2 they're both good. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
7. Recently had a molar removed, jumping the following day with no issues. Your experience may differ. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
8. As with all advice, at the end of the day it's just an opinion and its generally up to the OP to decide wether the advice is good or bad and wether they should act on it or not. Rules, like laws imo are usually there for a good reason and on the whole can be/should be treated as good advice and heeded to. As a side note when giving advice i think it helps if one can back the advice up with good reason. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
9. Thanks for sharing. Way cool .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
10. No experience of jumping either (not helping much am i) But as far as i'm aware these canopies are in the XF/Katana performance range. As a side note the original Ninja was grounded due to turblulence issues and the Ninja2 was said to be a toned down version of the original Edited to add http://www.aerazur.com/en/parachute-and-protection/main-canopies.html .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
11. V hard for me to assess from a POV let alone critique. Turns/approach looked varied. The video didn't demonstrate the canopies flight range purely because it was pieced together from a combination of openings, snappy toggle turns and of course landings. Maybe some braked flight in proximity with another canopy like a larger sabre2 would be nice way to show case slow flight capability etc. To the original poster of the video thanks again looking forward to seeing more. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
12. Thanks for sharing. V much appreciated. Certainly looks like the canopy likes to dive from the video. Cheers T. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
13. Agreed with learning skills at a more doclle WL, but if you have stopped learning then it's time to give up.. Hope we can all agree on that one. Note: I've been jumping Crossfires since 2003 and don't find jumping one at 2.1 an issue. Didn't say non X brace flies better just said i like flying mine. Within reason i have no issues getting back from bad spots. With regards to Stayhigh and reactions. Agreed reactions are important for the unforseeable, but imo there is nothing aggressive about agressive canopy flight and if your still digging and having to make radical adjustments in order to survive because of inability to fly with precision then again give up or go back to something more docile. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
14. When any canopy is highly loaded i'm of the opinion they instantly become super aggressive regardless of planform.(so i see your point)re:I don't want a super aggressive canopy. I'm currently loading a xf2 @ 2.1 and love it. Reasons for not switching to x-brace. 1.Don't compete. 2.Don't think an x-brace will make me a better pilot as all skills and some can be and should be mastered on non x-brace.(IMO) re: it's the indian not the arrow. 3.I'm spoilt for openings 4.Whats the rush. 5.(most important)the chicks really don't care. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
15. Cheers, very much appreciated. Was(still am) seriously considering a JFX but opted for a smaller crossfire for the time being. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
16. Thanks for sharing. In time, would be cool to see more footage, ground to air as well as pov etc. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
17. Besides £50 ain't goin to cut it. Research jump ticket prices. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
18. Wouldn't call the dz where i jump large and the lz isn't big enough imo for a separate hp landing area. The exit order is what it is. So yes, results by communication prior to boarding. Not the ideal solution i know. Simply trying to point out the impractabilities (is that aword) of separate landing areas where space is of a premium. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
19. we've had a landing order and we stick with it. At DZ's like the one where i jump, nearly every load is mixed and exit order is freefly, flat,(larger to smaller groups)followed by tandems. The landing area isn't really large enough (imo) to accomodate two seperate landing areas but in our case a enforced/displined landing order would be a great idea. Another problem we have (side note) is dirty high puller vs dirty low puller scenarios which predictably has an effect on landing order. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
20. Jumped a FJC round inthe early 80's loved it but no money at 16yrs old. Sidetracked for the next 14yrs (women, booze & motorcycles) Then returned to the sky at 30 yrs. Still love being in the air. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
21. Exactly that! .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
22. Nope, think he means it takes a good indian to swoop a crossfire well. i'm loading one at 2.1(2.16 if you want to split hairs) Trust me on this it's not going to be forgiving. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
23. Might be worth noting the length of the MLW if to short for the jumper will shift the position of the hip rings[if fitted] higher up towards the jumpers waist. Had a G4 way to small for me [made for a balding dwarf, long story] hip ring were at naval level on my waist, 20" risers, short chest strap, the thing was a nightmare to jump and my swooping suffered as the canopy recovered way to quickly from the dive. Now jumping a made to measure rig, 23"risers, long chest strap, happy days
24. Lengthening/letting out the chest strap after deployment allows the canopy to take its full design shape having a positive effect on the way the canopy flies. imo An oversized harness [i guess] may have a similar effect but may also effect your ability to harness turn the canopy achieved by shifting your weight left/right in the harness. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
