  1. Apologies... How does it compare with other RDS systems out there. Ease of use, price, compatibility etc. I've just ordered one (para-concept) after doing well pretty much zero research then happened on this thread. Post purchase the systems I've looked at NZaerosports, Para-concepts, Chupacabra seem to be keenly priced with the Look Ma coming in the cheapest .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  2. For what it's worth the Crossfire gets my vote. Jumping them for 10 years now and still not bored. WL of 1.6-2.2 but to be honest above 2.1 the bottom end diminishes so i would stick with what Icarus recommends. As a swoop machine the canopy does like to be loaded and the optimal WL used to be stated at 1.8. FTR I have jumped the Katana no real complaints found it very manageable but IMO lacks the range of a XF. Big plus tho, the Katana is very light on the fronts something some people have issues with on the XF where riser pressure builds quite quickly. I am not suggesting high WL given your length of departure from the sport but IMO the XF does like to be loaded. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  3. +1 My thoughts exactly. The pushing the risers together does work for me if the canopy isn't in a rotating dive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq31sxfaVZk&feature=c4-overview&list=UUmE15BSrE8KC24jbkefexZw Learned a lesson here on the above link Edited to add: the pushing the risers together clearly failed me on this occasion .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  4. Ok this was yesterday's fun 'n' games and I wanted to share. Had a few special parachute ride over approx 2000 jumps but the reserve twists were dare I say it a 1st. Edited to say tracked down the free bag and main this morning kept the handles as they are über expensive .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

  6. Sounds more of a currency issue rather than a canopy issue. Suffered a similar experience after only a year out recovering from a non skydiving injury. Couldn't get my canopy to dive as expected. Stuck with my original initiation altitude and brushed up on my technique and with time that all changed and I concluded that the problem was simply down to me being a tads rusty. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  7. Discussed some time ago. General consensus was longer=better within reason I.e. reaching your slider. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  8. Post video please as i find everything you post extremely hard to believe especially given the date. So put up or shut up. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  9. Is this an April's fool thread or just a thread about a fool? .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  10. I what avoid given that there are alot better options out there for little money i.e. PD Sabres, Icarus Safires, PDF Electra's, Chuteshop SA ZP's etc. All of the above will provide you with more available flare power. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  11. I'm a big fan of the crossfire platform, IMO, within reason the canopy likes to be loaded. Personally I've never loaded one sub 1.65 and believe this may be the reason I've never experienced the abrupt recovery some jumpers have complained about. Back in 2003 people were quoting 1.8 as the optimal loading for a crossfire(2) I presently load one at 2.1 but in my experience above that I feel bottom end lift starts to suffer. One of the things that impresses me most is the sheer flight range the canopy pocesses Quoteand the last ten years the platform has suited me well. If getting hold of demos really is a big issue where you are in my bias opinion you could do a lot worse. Crossfires rock. Obviously opinions very. Apologies for being a dumb person using a damn smart phone to reply .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  12. Same here, 2008-crossfire 2 on warning label. Crossfire on sewn on labels on stabilisers. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  13. I live in the UK and fortunately no problems whatsoever with a France to Uk transaction probably something to do with the UK & France being EU member states. Brought from the states and the item cost me £342 of my hard earned english pounds to get the item released from HRMC(customs) .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  14. Brought a 109 XF2 from Matt @ Hinton who responsibly imo asked for proof of experience prior to sale. He could have sold it sooner if he was a no questions asked type. Though the seller of my JVX didn't ask for proof i did state my experience prior to purchase so possibly saved him the bother. I personnally prefer Matts approach to resale after all you wouldn't give a monkey a loaded gun would you. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  15. I was under the impression it was if you buy from a reputable dealer. I've brought canopies in the where the seller has asked for proof of experience prior to sale, however sadly in the 2nd hand market proof of money is often the only requirement. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  16. Matt not every wannabe has the skill to fly their current canopy let alone the next level. Look at one of the incidents from last year, guy with 300 jumps pounds in with a velo for example. Marketing is marketing, not that PD needs to raise brand awareness, but as a generalisation i think people like to associate themselves with the leaders through brands. Renault Williams does well in F1 lets all go and drive a piece of crap Clio, oh look at me i wear Primani underpants. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  17. Heard the same thing as Swoopin last year i.e that PD were given a JPX. Doesn't mean the Peregrine is a copy even if the above statement is true and who cares, i put the skill of the pilot way before the canopy. We could all go and purchase a Comp Velo or a JVX or just about anything else for that matter but owning something doesn't equate to skill and i applaud PD in limiting who can fly the Peregrine to the guys/girls who have proven themselves in the competition arena. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  18. Stick with the 119. Dive comes from pilot technique not just canopy selection. Point in case i initate a turn considerably higher for a 270 rotation XF2 in comparison to some other jumpers pulling 360's under similarly loaded velo's at my club. That's purely down to technique used and honed after 10 years flying the same planform canopy and not the canopy. Just asked the guy out swooping local XF/Katana pilots under a PD Pulse way cool Imo. Too add..don't let vanity stand in the way of progression no one really gives a s*!t about your small container and what's placarded on the side of your canopy. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  19. ***only that others didn't think I was cutting their paths or being a concern to their landings. *** Andy its very likely the other jumpers on the load didn't see you. You'll be surprised at how many people, like yourself get fixated on their landing at the expense of being oblivious to what's happening around them. Be aware of the fact that unintentionally everyone's trying to kill you. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  20. Andy, hard fact but i don't really care if someone gets hurt or even killed by their own reckless illinformed actions. However ,i do care about the damage those actions can do to the reputation of a given DZ ,i care about that and was amazed no-one showed you the red card. Also you endangered others and thats simply not acceptable. I sincerely hope you rein it in and go back to basics and work on pattern and accuracy and slow flight. Good luck with arranging a CC course, failing that find a hard bastard, no shit mentor, someone you can respect whose not afraid of hurting your feelings..at least thats what i did 11 years ago when courses in my neck of the woods were, well non existent. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  21. I have issues hearing my audible, though not tinatus related. Does anyone know if there is a vibrating alti for the hard of hearing. Something that vibrates like a cell phone on silent may be a solution. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  22. We had a couple of regular Headcorn jumpers who married at Port Lypme castle. The groom arranged it so himself, best man and some jumping guests could jump into the reception. You would need a demo license to do this. Could try contacting Richard Wiggins on FB it was his wedding (now happily devorced). I've been jumping at Headcorn for 12years and in my time i've never experience a on DZ wedding but that doesn't mean it isn't doable so go along and speak to either Pete or Jane as the're probably best placed to answer that one. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVlqD35ghPY&feature=plcp Crossfire2 falling from the sky @ 3mins in this video and it isn't recovering abruptly Not POV but Air 2 Air .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  24. Have a rigger measure the brake lines esp the lowers as i suspect your brake line are too short. Have you noticed any tail flutter at all in the dive, another indication that the brakes are set too short. Have someone video your approach and landing and interrogate to see if the canopy tail is bucking. Another check you can do at altitude at full flight with the toggles all the way up, look up at the brake lines is there a healthy bow or are they taut. Note:If they are too short you will have to go back and redial your approaches. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  25. Really! Hope you use your eyes seriously not a good plan to rely on anything electronic, if thats the case. I often don't here my audible (old and deaf) and i use a neptune as a visual alti which went funky on the ride to altitude on one occassion (user error) . Fortunately the MkI human eyeball remained reliable. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
