  1. Making the assumption that she is jumping rental kit and as she is as you describe petite and proportioned having a shorter overall arm length in comparison to a person of average height and build is the reason why you should A. Watch her landing to observe whether she is flaring as deep as she can given her overall arm length, also observe the timing of the flare i.e.not too high/low. If all is good and the canopy is not shutting down then i suspect the brake line setting/length. If that's the case downsizing will make her situation worse and she will simply face plant at a greater rate. Another worthwhile exercise, explain the 'stall' and stall recovery. At altitude is it possible for her to fly the canopy to a stall. I'm sorry but i find the physical strength argument unlikely and like others have said including myself either poor technique or brake line settings, possibly both. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  2. May be a simple case of the brake lines being too long...anyone checked this. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  3. I know what your saying and i also know i'm no scientist.. Personally i take max/average speed readings from my N3 with a large dose of salt and at the EOTD swooping is more about happiness than numbers to me. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  4. Me to. I have MX pants..Cheaper that swoop shorts ( especially last season colours ) and they offer great abrasion resistance hence protection against friction/grass burns on the legs. Vanity doesn't come into it, i am that dork. Regular skydiving helmet etc unless a 'Pink' Protec is available. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  5. I may be wrong as i never studied but i believe the short answer is the 'G' forces experienced whilst rotating a mass at speed around a single point...the mass of the jumper essentially increases. Practical demo lead fishing weight suspended on a length of cord. Whilst suspended easy to hold etc. Now take the end of the cord and rotate/swing above your head and the forces generated essentially cause the weight to want to part company with the cord or the cord to part company with you grip. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  6. !6 yrs old Static line round. I didn't start jumping properly (AFF) until 31 yrs Usual excuses money, motorcycles, women and work .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  7. If this 21cell canopy with Petra technology is released to market my guess is it's for "Everyday" use but not for "Everyone" Looking forward to following the R&D hopefully some video and real world reviews. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  8. Got marriedwhich had a adverse effect on my ability to jump as often as i like. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    JVX

  10. Moot point but the canopy is in testing and it could be quite a while before it's available (if ever). What i've gleaned so far it's being designed as a step up in performance from the JVX and is being billed for everyday use and like the JVX it will be available to order in a non comp specced configuration with regards to line set etc making it suitable for everyday use with regards to highly experienced fun jumping/swooping. I'm guessing like the JVX, RDS will more than likely be a option at the time of ordering. same with line sets, or as a after market option from the likes of Para-concepts etc, much in the same way as the option of a RDS is available for most if not all existing X-braced canopies out there. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  11. Looking at the OP's profile he's jumping a Velo. Partial RDS slider only shouldn't be a problem. Like others have already stated its easy to remove the lanyard. I'm doing exactly the same thing. I have a para-concepts RDS for my canopy and the huge slider can be a hinderance but i don't need the hassle (perceived on my part) of using the full RDS option at this stage. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  12. Just a thought, but why don't you just stick with one canopy and learn to fly the absolute crap out of it. Though downsizing, changing planform etc may seem interesting from a "i don't know what i'm doing it's scary/interesting point of view" in reality you're just holding yourself back and stifling your progression and adding un-necessary risk which is all very interesting until you find yourself in a whole world of pain. Get yourself a Sabre II and master it. I spent 10years flying one canopy and by my own admission whether i truly mastered it is very subjective. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  13. Product of the times we live in sadly. Help, with all the good intentions in the world and someone wants to sue your ass. Very tough situation as walking away goes against human nature. Personally, help as best you can, even if its providing some shade from the sun. That said if there's qualified and able people around it's best to keep out of the way and simply let them do what they're trained to do. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  14. General consensus was that longer risers gave a mechanical advantage....discussed previously on this forum.http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4217276;search_string=riser%20length;#4217276 .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  15. Thanks for sharing...the risers look like a relatively easy mod. I have a paraconcepts RDS just never considered low drag risers as i'm happy with my standard issue type 17's 23"ers.
  16. Excellent post, i've never seen the riser tweak any pictures out there. Off topic but any known minuses with this etc i.e. adverse effects on deployment. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  17. Personally i would stick with your Sabre2 for now, maybe get a smaller one in the near future. It's amazing what you'll learn skills wise by staying under the same canopy. Patience pays off. In addition i've Jumped Crossfire2's for 10 years and yes, i think they are awesome but with that said they also perform at their best when well loaded and from personal experience 1.8-2.1 IMO was the sweet spot. As a experiment maybe demo a 149XF2 for 20 or so jumps. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

  19. Well, there's more than way! .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  20. Went with para-concepts purely because that as i understand is what NZaerosports base their design on. (JVX=huge slider ) Emailed aerosports for price but was in a hurry so ordered one from para-concepts, as i say zippo research on my part and very little in the way of dicussion as to whats considered 'Best' ease of use, issues etc. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
