  1. i'm confident i'm going to be mega happy with the JVX. It's been out there a while now so well proven in the real world, i like this. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  2. The learn to love your canopy is kind of what got me interested in canopy control. Thers's so much to learn no just from the swooping community but from the classic accuracy and CRW crowds as well, it's all very relevent and the more you learn the more you realise it's not the canopy but the person flying it that counts. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  3. Depends on how 'too' small had a G4 supplied to me by a balding midget (no offence to midgets) name of Piers Roberts(aka fedykin) who completely ignored my supplied measurements after offering one of those to good to be true offer a a new container. Long story cut short (no pun intended)this thing dearched me, something i could deal with, but on top of that i had to deploy like a wingsuiter. Something that fits is way better especially in the MLW department. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

  5. Same position last year. Remove it,send it off and jump without it at least thats what i did. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  6. Nice one..sort of goes hand in hand with the have a plan summerised by Doc. I call this "Land alone" which is a big part of the plan especially if the plan is going to rats due to unforseen circumstances .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  7. For me it was simply "Love your canopy" I took the above statement to mean..Whatever you jump, respect it and learn to fly it to your full potential, don't just treat it as a means of getting to the ground. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  8. I believe the Katana originally shipped with spectra but PD quickly remedied that and switched to HMA. You're spot on about Wl been jumping XF2's between 1.6 (129) and now a [email protected] now that can be a wild thing .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  9. Let the toggle whipping begin .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  10. Oh no i've just purchased a new to me 2011 mod JVX, i'm so old school .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  11. Ashtanga, for the life of me i can't see the point of your thread. I've never met Jim, but as others have said he basically put swooping on the map as far as a recognized skydiving disipline goes. Lets not forget the others that self publisise in this sport, why not have a pop at Brian Germain for example or even your or my local DZ for blatantly advertising Tandems and Fj courses. People really shouldn't be exposed to these services, i mean who Neeeedss them anyway. On the subject of need, What do you do to make a living, do you or the company you work for advertise, just saying. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  12. Swooping the shit out of a JVX 99 at 500jumps Video please .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  13. Don't know about "New" however. The JVX is a 27-cell elliptical cross braced Tri-cell with upgrades like a new nose modification, improved trim, longer lines, no stabilizers and HMA lines are standard. Don't know if the above are tweaks from when then canopy was first released. Unlike the original JVX that used a special designed slider our latest version uses a standard slider size of 29 X 24 inches with a new upper brake line configuration! Edited to add the above paragraph T. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  14. Your right not much out there, but has been on the market a few years now. i'm assuming it's aimed at the 'expert' pilot and i'm guessing it fits in the Katana/Crossfire cat. http://www.parachutes-de-france.net/en edited to add attachment thats too big .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  15. Bottom line imo if you jump a high performance canopy you have to expect the occasional high performance opening. Same with every parachute. Line twists with an Eliptical design can often result in a reserve ride tho this technique works well in preventing that from my experience http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg4Niwm3AYI At 1.51 approx .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  16. Nail on the head....Quote..Own airspace Land alone etc. It's when we mix things up in the (standard) pattern that it gets dangerous for others and not just ourselves imo. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  17. Seeing you've fessed up on the numbers stick with what you have.(assuming i read that right.200jumps total, 100 on springo) 100 jumps on a canopy is nothing. Sabre2/Safire would be more suitable in around 200 jumps time. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  18. Me to. Point of contention. At what wing loadingdoes a canopy become hp. 1.4 imo .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  19. Your a UK jumper. BPA system achieve Canopy Handling 1 then 2. after that, like others have said seek professional instruction/coaching. 1.No fast track other than around 500+jumps a year mininum. 2.You will make mistakes, just hope you are react approproately and walk away from them, hence coaching. Don't know where you are but Chris Lynch could help you out here. Sorry for all the Bold don't flame me .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  20. See if you can get hold of Chris Lynch. Wingtips CH1, CH2 .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  21. How do you know they packed you intentional L/twists. You jump a HP canopy so expect HP openings. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  22. Your right in saying that you shouldn't use a helmet post impact. But trust me and others, protec offer far more protection than carbon open face helmets. The damage to mine (no longer in use LOL) was caused when my head impacted the pilots seat with whom i was sitting back to back with. Though it undoubtedly offered some protection on the whole it was shit given the circumstances. Pro tecs will also accept an audible so there's really no reason other than vanity not to go with one. I suspect you'll go with whatever suits your taste, but remember looking good never saved anyone. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  23. I've posted some pictures of a carbon helmet post impact. Though they offer some protection imo they are nowhere near as good as a protec. But hay it's all about the bling. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
