Well, you can try your luck in Canopy Relative Work forum too, this is swooping and not Photography and Video.

Wing loadings and skipping sizes
phoenixlpr replied to flyingstrauss's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Than what is the question? Its your leap of faith. You have to know if you are ready for that or not. I broke my ankle with a Navigator 220 ~ WL 1.0. It is not your canopy, its the pilot.... -
Wing loadings and skipping sizes

I'd leave Vengeance and other elliptical canopies alone. Try to find some nice conditions if you try something new. A canopy control course can help you to fly better what you have. -
A cross-brassed canopy packs about 2 sizes bigger than a regular one. So it can happen. Those charts are only guidelines.

A hawk is not hunting flies. Do not feed the troll.

Or just buy a new canopy more often. You are very true! We don't need to pack at all, just get a new packed canopy. How about keeping your canopy indoors? Than it can hold forever.
-
Agree. I used to have one. I've chopped it, because of broken lines, than I've burned it later.

How long before I need to repack my main?
phoenixlpr replied to MorfiusX's topic in Safety and Training
Any time you feel so. I usually pack mine if it was not jumped for 2 weeks. -
Wow! This was great! Pictures, please!

Your Canopy Risk Quotient? :Parachutist 03/04
phoenixlpr replied to sarge's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
This is funny. Something like you need to calculate your BMI to realize that you might be fat. -
I got both suits. Name any other than using zippers instead of tabs and the different wing cut-away system.
-
Well done! Newbies still can read.

First of its Cobalt and not coblat. I got some harder opening after relined to Vectran750, but it settled down. Its easy to build a bad reputation if the good ones are keep long and the mean ones are going from hand to hand.

Harness inputs under front risers.
phoenixlpr replied to SRI85's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
You may forget about harness input under WL 1.3. Your weight shift does not make too much effect at all. -
The "fun" is coming when you fly it with only 5-7 cells open. My WL is 1.6+ on my Cobalt 135 and I still do have closed end cell time to time. Anyway you should know that having a couple of "bad tempered" canopy in circulation is enough to build a bad reputation of it.

Crossfire2 has a semi-closed nose, it was designed for higher speeds/higher WL. That airfoil needs more speed for keep in flying stable.
-
Yes. If there is enough internal pressure in a ram air airfoil that it keeps on flying...

Actual Water Training... (i.e. jumps into water)
phoenixlpr replied to fcajump's topic in Safety and Training
I did some fun water jump some year back. Than I managed to end up in the water on 2 beach jumps. -
Well, turbulence + collapse can kill you if your piloting skills does not. You can swoop almost anything reasonable, but you don't really need an elliptical canopy. It would not give any benefit over the extreme slow opening and being prone to collapse. You has been recommended several good and fun canopies. Pick one and be happy.

I had all but Viso. ProTrack is a nightmare. Optima has a quite decent UI. User Guide is OK, but it can be more detailed.

Reverse S-Fold Technique... +Wolmary pack
-
AFAIK only harness and reserve canopy should be TSOd.

There are helmets with steam/frost issues. Have you ever been in the situation where you jumped and you can not see anymore? Been there, done that and not jumping that helmet with visor in icing conditions. Funny, heh?
-
You can buy closing loops too, so why to make them? Because I want to have them just as long as I need them?
-
It's sick. Literally.
