  1. Thanks for all that. Most of that was on my mind and I would go it alone my mentor would have to approve the the object and go with me. I was going to ask those types of questions of him after I got a few answers to my original question in here. Pertaining to the exit and opening what else besides wind, clearing the object, rigging for the jump, and avoiding the object itself if anything should I ask about? Or know? I think I know what a gargoyle is but can someone explain that as well? 3. I did ask my mentor about this. I'm not sure it was not a detailed conversation. I will talk with him more about it. I figured I would get more than one persons advice and it couldn't hurt. I was asking him about doing a building. He said air doesn't pass through the object so the openings are squirly. I can understand that and it goes with out saying but is there anything else? Here is the B- 400 ft. The corner is avaible for exit, not gargoyle(not entirely sure I know what that is). Just a bit under hung. The reason I didn't search for threads on the subject is that opoinions changes. I want the most up to date advice I can get. 4. I posted this to the list. Anyone wanting to get together for new years weekend PM me. There was talk at the last camp about doing something in Florida like we did last year. There is already intrest from some experienced dogs. Lets see some more. 5. Agreed. to sell anything yo have to work closely with the gear sales person at your DZ and spend plenty of time on it. I got a few sales but I'm sure I actaully got credit. Since I haved (I told Aerodne about me moving) there was supposed to be this email news letter that goes out and I get no coorespondence. I love the price of my gear and I love using it. Not sure if it is retail or MSRP the percentage was different when I bought and special because I bought in pieces and as a coach. 6. Pom a coaches point of view, we are taught to write the log book (after the student writes thiers portion) in a manner that another coach can rad between the lines and see what was going on in the students learning. That was my coach course. I'm not sure that every coach course is like that but if it is going to be USPA it should be standard. As far as I'm concerned, what you describe dis not normal. I have always been able to ask questions and read the students log book and figure out what I should be coaching. If a DZ is to busy to take the time to give the student the attention they need and paid for, then go somewhere else they aren't teaching you everything yo need to begin with because of the lack of time. I really don't lke seeing a an instructor being met with a rig and a student as they walk into the hanger while the first being spoken are "what level are you on?" I have seen it. I'm sure that there will be instructors on here that will rant and defend the process but I know what I have seen and it has been at more than one DZ (which will be nameless) Just remember that safety isn't about money. Safety is a moral virtue that should be common. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  7. As far as I'm concerned Jiffy boobs, platic, natural or what ever. They aren't imaginary so they are real to me. I would take a set of man made ones over a pair saggy old tits any day. There are plenty on that site. Some really good ones too. Thanks. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  10. I never met either Bob or Shannon. I have read a few of the threads about what happened, so I am familiar with the subject. When I started to read this I got more and more sucked in to what was written. I can say that more than one emotion ran through me and I don't know either one of them. I have never read about, heard about, or known anyone to have had such an experience religous or otherwise. Amazing doesn't come close by light years to what I just read. 14. I'm not sure there is one. I remember there used to be one listed in the dropzones list on this site. maybe you can find a pilot that would let you do it for the price of a scenic flight. Probably be exspensive and the landing area may be less than desirable. I know, I'm no help at all. 16. What I keep seeing over and over again even with the new Javelins is that the stiffener after some wear will get a curve and stay that way. If the rig isn't closed properly meaning a canopy that doesn't fit or some other reason the flap doesn't want to bend where it is supposed to and it bends at the stiffener and not the plyable fabric where it is supposed to. This will later cause the flap to not be as secure as it was. My remedie to keep the stiffener from getting a permenant curve is to tuck the stiffener only under the side flaps and not all three (left, right, top) Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  17. Seems to be a theme in this thread. When someone tells you that the girl you just met is messed up, RUN! later when someone questions your choice in women and you are still with the same girl, RUN! When the same girl tells you she isn't takeing her meds prescribed by a head doctor and is thinking about taking them again, RUN! Next- Wear a condom, kids are STD's- They are incurable, and with you for life. (kidding people) although don't have them on accident. Start skydiving sooner. Finish college sooner. 20. Thanks for posting this. I just activated a detachment from my reserve center today. The discussion came up about making religous material available because as one of my peers put it "I have a feeling there won't be some coming back this time" He had first mentioned that in the past we had no casualties or deaths from this unit but this time the mission was different and that they were going to a "hot zone". I really hope no one gets killed from this unit this time, I'm the one that turns blue stars to gold if they do. Well don't I have egg on my face. The very first reply had the answer. I guess after reading the whole thread I didn't remember reading that part. Thanks Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

    Canopy life

Thanks and thanks to everyones responses. Some of that I knew some I didn't know. All that information answers how a canopy should be treated in terms of what is bad for it. However the questions still begs about how many jumps under "normal" conditions does a canopy last? Canopy life

All that goes without saying and for any canopy skydiving or base. I should have been clearer but I'm concerned with the opening forces the canopy goes through. For example, the effects on line trim and porosity of the material. I'm a rigger but I am unfamiliar with the construction of base canopies and the punishment they go through. Since I have just started base and will eventually buy gear I thought this would be good knowledge for me to have. Generally how long does a canopy last? meaning how many jumps before it is considered time to replace it? Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
