  1. As long as the thing is USCG approved you can use it. Oh and common sense- safe to jump with and be accessable if you need it. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  2. Hope this isn't considered advertising. I read a bit a thread and tried not to make it that way. Having trouble getting stuff signed for your A license? Need water training, little extra in canopy control or maybe packing? there is an opportunity to get some deticated help. "Newbie Boogie" - June 29th to July 1st At skydive Sebastian. Check out the calendar at thier website. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  3. Thanks for sharing those. I thought about Johnny a lot this weekend. I taught a teammate of mine to fly a flag yesterday for a demo today. It reminded me of when Johnny gave me some pointers on how to do it the first time I flew one to get my PRO rating. The client called me today just before the demo wanting the team to fly an additional flag in honor of a one of the polo players that died during practice a couple of weeks ago. The flag was his team's flag. It was a great demo, I'm sure Johnny was smiling and watching. 4. Does anyone have any photos of Johnny? Here is one after a five way CRW jump at the BAMA during last years Memorial Day beach boogie. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  5. I am going to need help. I keep trying to think of how to begin planning but then I just get this feeling of being crushed and I have to go distract myself. We need to keep psyco Bob in on this so we aren't planning against each other unintentionaly. 6. I remember when that got started. It was because he was slow flaking is canopy but before you knew it he was done before us. Sort of like the movie click he would seemingly stop time and finish in his own pace and click start again as if we never missed a beat. There are tons of memories like that. Puts a smile on my face, I still feel very screwed up at the same time though. I'm trying to take my own advice I gave to my uncle when my Grandmother passed. Look foward to the days when you will be happy of the memory instead of sad for the loss. Easier said than done. I'm extremely lucky to have known and to have him as close a friend as he was. 7. That is true. Not sure of the number. Johnny always thought very well of the ECSC family. He always made sure no matter hwere he was that no one was left out. If anyone has photo's please send. PM me for my email. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  8. I'm back from my trip to say goodbye. I really do not do well in that environment. Anyway... I remember that jump like it just happened. It was one of my favorites because I was able to be there to help one of my closest friends out. Even if it was because of something that was considered bad. The services were very well put together. It is amazing the lives he touched and how he touched them. I knew he played guitar but I didn't know he was in an 80's Hair metal band. It was really very good music. His mother never liked him jumping. In a letter that had to be read by someone else, she addressed the skydivers and said for us to do one more for him. I'm pretty sure the word is in two weeks at Chester. There will be another jump in his honor -so help me God- at Emerald Coast also. Probably more than one. It is my personal mission while I'm there to make that happen. 9. PsycoBob- Thanks. I was going to wait until after services to post anything, but maybe I'm wrong as usual. Johny was my tandem instructor on my first and third jump a little over 6 years ago. He also, along with Pyaso (Chuck Hammond), got me going to the ECSC Beach boogie. Last year he celebrated my 500th jump with me over that beach in a two stack with the American flag. Just a year and a half before that he did my first CRW jmp with me and got me into the only disciline I do now. On verterans day he was the only one to call and say thank you for serving. After I moved to florida from NC/SC he was one of the few that kept in touch. He was always glad and excited when I came home to visit as I was to visit with him when I went back to NC/SC. There was never ever a time that Johnny wasn't an easy going well loved individual. I always felt that I would do anyhting for that unselfish close friend of mine. This is very hard for me to write and anyone who knows me, knows that I don't open up well at all. So I will stop know before I loose it. He will be missed more than I can speculate. 11. I edited to ad at least the state to marrow it down. Also as my post says PM for details. They can ask where it is and any other details. I take it that since you didn't PM me for details your are not interested. Thanks for playing. 12. In Florida. PM for details. I need C or D license, non swooping types. preferably someone who will be willing to do a stack. I am an experienced CRW dog and I will be gentle. If you don't do CRW then that is ok. If you have experience with a small flag like 5X7 or 6X8 that will be good also. Marine reservists or Former Marine a plus. Any other prior service is welcome. 13. After ordering a color sample form PD I realized that the colors on the PC look very different. I also realized that some color names are misleading. For instance blackberry looks purple and Silver really looks grey. Just for the curious I have attached what I ordered. Judging by the color sample I ordered and other canopies I saw in the air this past weekend, I think I understand how the canopy will look. The computer doesn't give the best representation. Thanks everyone for your input. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  14. Thanks. That is good to see the effect of what some of my designs may have. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

  16. Thanks. That is the sort of opinons I'm looking for. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  17. No offense taken. I plan to make my own choice in the end. This isn't to please anyone. It is to find out what catches others eyes. I have picked the colors red, yellow, black. I'm looking more for a color placement poll. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  18. Agreed, Plenty of Brothers would say that red and yellow are just fine. Hello- My name is Devante Rodriguez. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  19. Couldn't expect anyhting less from you. Glad to see you have an any opinion at all. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  20. Ok people lets try again except this time if you don't like any of them, don't post. Notice how there is no choice in the poll for none or least ugly. The whole idea is for noticeability. Not whether you would like the colors or not. Thanks Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

  23. If it is randomised then it wouldn't be controlled right? Also where were they looking to identify this? You're right this is f'd up. I could only read a few lines. 24. excellent advice. Iwished I had known some of that before my first base jump. I have many balloon jumps, if you kick off the basket you can be the pilot is going to be plenty pissed at you and may not let you back on his balloon. My father is a pilot instructor and jumper I had about 20 balloon jumps before my first 100 skydives. Trust me, it is good for you to have wieght in the basket but not good for the aircraft. treat the thing with respect, these pilots are doing this for a hobby most fo the time and they either break even or loose money with it. Also it is going to give when you push off, so just practice good dead air body position and forget about practicing the launch. You can practice a launch at a swimming pool solid dive or edge. stepping off with out trying to force a belly down posistion. Pretty good. the platform will help in regards to standing at the edge of the launch point at the bridge but no so much pushing off. Just my thoughts weather anyone agrees with them or not. Doesn't mean what I type here is law. And tell Mr. Burner Yuri said "hi".
