I did a search in the forums and didn't find much on this topic. My question is wehre can I find colored smoke for demos? I contacted superior smoke signal and they told me they don't make colors anymore. I'm looking for red and blue. The posting on the lake wales website descibes the course is appropriate for jumpers who understand how to fly in a pattern and can land standing up consistenly. So I guess intermediate means just beyond the basics but not yet advanced like Swooping or full blown CFS. Both Dean Keating and I jump Icons. I have an I6. It was built for a tri 175. and L 143 goes great. The L126 goes well two with a slightly shorter loop a 160 would pack tighter in an I6 but it would be fine. I would say that if Dean packed a 176 in there then a 160 fits. Just check the tension on the closing loop as you would when adjusting for any size change with canopies. For anyone who is intersted, There is a intermediate canopy control course being held at Lake Wales, Fl on Nov 1&2. The busy season starts in Florida pretty soon. now is a good time to study canopy flight since the traffic patterns are going to get populated. The details are listed on the lake wales DZ website under experienced skydivers then events. is there a chest mount container that takes a square in existence? I'm looking to have it as a first main for intensional cutaways. I know there are rigs out there that are built for this, I'm hoping someone will indulge me. I usually have some words for a fallen service member. I have talked with enough families in my dress blues about thier son, or father, after a flag has been presented grave side. This time I have no idea what to say. When I first met Buz he said "So, you're the Marine I have heard about. Yea, I know, I have the rank and you have he experience." He was a Lieutenant Colonel and he had a hell of a sense of humor. Right away after that, I knew he was someone I wanted to get to know so I could be a better person. I didn't get to know him as well as I liked. From the little I learned of him, he was cut out for the life he made for himself and he was a selfless person. It is my guess that he wasn't satisfied until he couldn't give anymore to help for someone. I am certainly priviledged to have met him. His services are the day I travel home from abroad but I heard that there is a CRW party at Cross keys. I plan to be there. You already gave me the answer as you stated below. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

Thanks Mark. I think that clarification ends my quest. But now I'm curious to see if TSO C23x is spelled out in a document somwhere. On the FAA website I only find manufacturers that have product tested to 23- b, c, d Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

Nice! Thanks, that is a big help! I'm still looking for someting that says in black and white that a rigger may (or may not) replace orginal equipment such as a rip cord assembly with some other part such as another manufacturers rip cord assembly or a part belonging to a different make and model rig. AC 105-2C for the rigger's privilege of combining compatible components. Terry quoted the relevant portions earlier in this thread. Parachute Rigger Handbook has TSO performance specs in one of the appendices. An on-line version of the PRH is at http://www.pilotoutlook.com/pilot_training/parachute_rigger_menu. Mark This what I was actually refering to. " TSO-C23c and C23d call out seven major components, starting with the pilot chute and ending with the ripcord." Is there a document that spells out TSO C23x? Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

Do you have a source document or know where I can read it? Thanks Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

I could be wrong but I think that free bags and PC's are part of the container. the interchangeable part is between canopy and container. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

Thanks Terry. To clarify I mean replacing factory original with another part (aftermarket). Such as a reserve cable assembly, free bag or pilot chute, ect for the reserve deployment system. Thanks Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

Specifically, replacement of aftermarket parts. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

I did a serach of the forums and found nothing. I also did a search on FAA.gov for information. I'm looking for documentation (FAR, AC, AD, ect) that can tell me when aftermarket parts are allowed on TSO equipment. Thanks Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

Thanks everyone for yor help. I got a rig. As far as cheating or not, the PC aren't hard. It is just folding them correctly that is a pain once they fold up, you just slide it in the close the last flap. I don't find it that difficult. Thanks. The seat type is in the works too. Right now I have the ability and the shop to work to get the chest. What is the name of the place in UT? Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

Does any know where I can get a mills container with a 24 foot T-10 with the pilot chute? It doesn't need to be air worthy, just complete so I can practice packing. If any one must know, soon I will have a second rigger rating. You could try here http://ww.safetyknife.com/ or paragear. try to stay away form any knife that hasa plastic handle. Captain hooks and jack the rippers are good, but the plastic and twist trapping lines between the blades. the metal handles prevent that. 2007 is almost over. Soon we would have read Johnny giving a count for how many days were left until the Emerald Coast Beach Boogie. He was in Lake Wales during the 100 way CRW record. I swear I could have felt his presence after I broke from the formation until I landed. And before that in September at the nationals when the team was being awarded. Thanks for sending me a Thanks on Verterans Day on Johnny's behalf Lizzie. Usually only my Mother and Johnny would do that. This Friday (Dec 18) I'm traveling home for the holidays and will miss him blowing up my cell phone asking how far along I am in my drive. He was always excited I was coming back just as I was to come back to visit. Still miss you Brother. Crew Returns to Skydive Twin Cities! Now What?
leapdog replied to skyjumpenfool's topic in Canopy Relative Work
Soon a new "all around" canopy tentavily called the storm will be on the market from PD. Slap on a solid piece to the mesh slider, quick change of the bridle with a bag and go free fall. It was debuted during the record week. It does land better, open better and at higher wing loads is a very zippy canopy. The thing is on rev 17 right now and I think they are done with the R&D. Those canopies are record and gold medal canopies. The two way sequential record done at the nationals was performed under 97 size. All the CRW gold medals were performed under 97's with the exception of 8 way speed where two 107s used. In Russia at the world meet 4 way sequential record was set with 97's. I demoed a 120 and loaded it to 1.6 absolutly a great canopy to fly and land. The 107 rev 10 I used for comp was great but with all small canopies you have to pay much more attention to landing. Some of the chatter from other CRW dogs that demoed them said that if you are using a 143 at the normal "record wing load"now maybe a 150 with this new one is best. So now solves the problem with getting new dogs with less jumps to down size so much. I think that when this canopy comes out it will be much easier to grow CRW. Once the teams start using them we won't have our equipment advantage anymore.
