  1. From the CRW forums- Nothing on your hand except gloves. as other have said put a pocket on your jump suit. Use spandex like a BOC pouch with a clear window so it streaches and gives with motion and won't tear. Put the pocket on your upper left arm. Generally wraps happen from the mid body and down. also you won't be bending over in bigger ways to see your digitude when you can just look left and there it is. I have a neptune and I have a pocket built as I described but it is on the leg. It works well except that I sometimes have to look raise my leg and the whole thing about wraps may cover it if it is located there. I am going to make one for my arm. Pm me for pictures of the current configuration I have if you like. 2. I didn't read the whole thread so sorry if I repeat anything already said. Get the smoke right from the manufacturer. I have had good results that way. the smoke performs just fine. Superior smoke signal is who it is. they are 30,000 cu/ft Who is the 40,000 cu/ft? 4. Army navy surplus. I use one of those Military aviator bags. Nice soft paded nylon inside and pockets on the outside to put a few items in. I'm sure you can get them in black so it doesn't look too military. 6. I don't know if I would say zero chance of inflation unless the nose was completely choked off. Trailing by one end cell leave the whole nose exposed to catch air. Then again I have been know to be wrong before. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  7. Good point. Add that to the list of considerations. Don't want to hose the other dog involved. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  8. agreed it was too low for you or the other jumper you are both experienced enough. Decision altitudes are personal, however, since two or more are involved as a community there should be some guide lines. what they should be will more than likely be up for debate. These guide lines will probably be different for each drop zone or even jump depending on the flihgt path of the intended jump plan. In my opinion considerations are: Enough altitude for deployment sequence of the reserve. Where are landing posibilities- will it be at the DZ or somewhere where you could get hurt whether under reserve or main? Gear recovery while not as important as personal well being for the jumpers involved some like to get gear back as soon as possible. 9. The Mirage G4 has a very good design. the 2 inch elastic webbing connecting the leg straps to the back pad keeps the leg straps semetrical and up on the legs. You design is elborate it is as simple as keeping the leg straps up and semetrical. use a rig that is sized for you. (lift web mainly) and keep your leg straps tight. Tighten them up before boarding the pane not just before you exit while inthe plane. be ready to jump at all times would be the other reason for tightening them before boarding. 10. I have an I6 with and tri hybrid 175. A 190 will fit very tight in an I6. Here is the size chart for the container sizes. http://www.flyaerodyne.com/fly/products/iconSizes.asp There is a bar across the top for main sizes the I6 has 168 -190 main. edited to add that I think the chart assumes that there are micro lines on the canopy. 11. While I think what you are writing is important and is a good basis for a text explanation, I'm not sure that everyone does what you are writing. Or maybe better put, consciously thinks that way. I hope both. I know it hasn't been discussed much, and not in this way. And although it becomes more important when the formation grows, It can be practiced one on one too and is a lot of fun to do. I plan on applying the new terminology in some practical examples in the next article, to further explain their relationship. It can be used to explain a student how to set up a pin-base, but my goal will be to work towards clarification of the flow of the 100-way next november. I enjoy the technical aspect of what is written thus far. Arguably, simple works. Recency primacy works well also. The most important points first, fill in the blanks with the less important later for hte over all big picture. Plenty of the principles used in instructors traning can also be applied here. Too much vocabulary can actually be harmfull to some learners because they will struggle with learning the terms and not the actual science. I'm not trying to be damaging in my critque. Each teacher has to use what works best for their teaching style. What I have just written works best for me. Using the cars at an intesection is a great way to illustrate the point. How will you illustrate the 3-D aspect of this? Many times we come from above as well as from the side to the target. 12. No such thing that I have ever heard of as a figure trap not being tight enough. On occasion the excess will come out of the line at the end. as it looks in the photo. I agree take it to your rigger and let him/her lok at it. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  13. I have used both. My home DZ is Skydive Carolina I'm temorarily at Sebastian. I usually try and wait until I am making a run home to shop for gear. I learned to be a rigger from rigging solutions so I know the people well. Gear shops are gear shops but when it comes to the people who run it? Rigging Solutions has it. 14. This is interesting. I see how it relates to fighter pilots and how predators in the wild are studied. I see how it is usfull for CRW dogs. I have been using the concept but just didn't know how to explain it such terms. What I have been doing is to have a new CRW dog walk a run back in small scale with me on the ground. I have a question. Is the writting meant for an experienced CRW dog or New CRW flyers? Perhaps both? 15. If the hanger was unlocked, why the mention of bolt cutters? If the hanger was locked, then why say it was unlocked? A better wording would have been something like: "Someone used bolt cutters to break into the locked hanger..." Confused... Missed the point. Regardless of whether the it was locked or not the gear is still stolen. So who cares if the hanger was locked now? Besides that I'm sure the poster was trying to say that it was locked and the thief used bold cutters. Typos are plenty in these forums. 17. I agree with the percentages. In free fall try to be relaxed and don't fight the wind even someone who is very strong can get worn out. The advice I have for working out is. I work out my arms doing pull ups and abs doing crunches. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  18. Start checking ebay. look at the local pawn shops. and start calling FBO's about any recent gear listings for sale or calls from people asking if pilots are interested in buying any. Sounds to me like if it was a jumper it would be one rig not several. Number nine. Just came up with it. Yes I know it is 2:25 eastern standard time. The weather is bad and there is no jumping for me this weekend. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
