I hope you mean "considering to try some rear-riser landings in case one of my control line brakes" If you intend rear riser landings for longer swoops. hmm "i don't know why" but every pro swooper sais that you should try High performance rear riser landings only when you mastered all other techniques for gaining speed and longer swoops... Be careful the edge at where you stall the canopy is much sharper with rear risers than with control lines. Try it up high several times before, have fun and be careful.   2. OK, OK, i guess i messed up some numbers... i'll do a little more research. Oh btw i once had a glide ratio of 1:1, not falling but climbing !!! all you have to do is make a sharp turn with your canopy, and then brake hard (don't stall it). you'll have a glide ratio of 1:1 climbing. it won't last long but it's a good feeling gaining height for a few seconds.. What i ment with glide ratio is how far is the most you can get. by glide ratio 1:1 if you jump from 4000m and open at 1000m, that's 3000m of freefall. with glide ratio of 1:1 for 3000m of freefall you'll cover 3000m horizontaly. so you can jump out of airpline 3000m away (horizontaly) and you'll open above the airport (in no wind of course) at glide ratio 1:2 you can jump 6000m away. at 3:1 9000m away. Not saying it's not true just asking... is it ?? I know that with my canopy opened at 800m if i'm 2000m away i'll barely get to the dz in no wind. with about 25% of brakes for the best glide ratio of my canopy. So yes i guess my canopies best glide ratio is somewhere around 2.2 and i'm flying cobalt comp. loaded 1.7 And spectres almost definitely have better glide ratio. My canopy is more designed for swooping than for gliding... i'm not saying that birdman suits don't have 2.5:1 or 3:0 glide ratio, I don't know, i've never flown one. it just seems a loooot comparing to any canopy and surface the canopy has comparing to wingsuits surface...   3. Cough, cough, cough.... huh 1:1 in tracking, that is something i'd like to see. Well my canopy has a glide ratio of 2.2:1. wing suit with robert p. inside (i think he knows how to track) has a glide ratio of 1.3:1 with his newest wingsuit. Do you really think that golden nights track 1:1 with only booties on their legs??? I think that even 0.6:1 is realllyyyy gooood! "George just lucky i guess!"
  4. Hmm sounds like another Pro Swooping Tour Freestyle move Good point Robi! We're not birds (not yet) we don't have hollow bones, neither we weight as little as birds do. And as soon as we get little "wings" we want to land. Like he said, we need some million years of evolution to be able to land our bodies. But anyway, wings main job is for flying not landing. So you all wingsuit flyers use suits for flying and have fun at it. for landing them, i'd wait for another few million years Unless some super duper great awesome mega technology is invented earlier...   9. I personaly don't think that would cause a total, if you did everything else right. but if you managed to do such an error. i'd be more worried you did a lot of other things wrong too. How on earth can you pack a reserve like that?? i don't dare packing my main like that i don't even think about doing such an error on a reserve. Don't you check everything like 10 times when packing a reserve It's your last chance after all. I still think this error shoulnd't cause a total, but i'm stunned because it's so obvious error. how could you not see that? "George just lucky i guess!"
  10. It depends on the price of the repack If the price for reserve repack is only about $10, then definitely charge for any additional thing you do. IF the reserve repack price is reasonable (for me that would be $40 or more), than all that aditional things should be for free (included in the price)... Just my opinion, though i repack for free, or for $15 most. I just don't have the heart to charge more, because everyone that gives me a rig to repack is my friend. Though it would be fair, comparing to through what hassle i sometimes have to go "George just lucky i guess!"

  12. Depends. If i can jump from 4000m (12.000 feet) AGL then i'd rather Freefly, because about 50 seconds of flying is just a little better than Canopy flight, But if the highest i can get is 3000m (9.000 feet) AGL, then canopy flight is my choice, because around 30 seconds of FreeFly isn't as good as Canopy Flight. It's both great, and i'd have no problems doing hop n' pops from 1000m all day long even if could get to 4000m. I Can't really decide which is better at the moment
  13. Close the rig completely with the flap over the pin, then pull on the bridle perpendicular to the rig that is lyin on the ground. If you can raise your rig it's too tight. "George just lucky i guess!"

    free jumps

    Where are you guys from France and Austria. Man the country with so many skydivers and they can't send one single skydiver to make at least 10 free jumps. that's just plain stupid!!! Not to mention Austria which is our neighbor. Skydivers should stick together no matter the nationality. We shouldn't let politics get in our way !!! Or whatever the reason is they're not coming!!!   17. I agree, after you reach terminal the blood will rush into your head, though most people will say no. When in the air most people can't feel any pressure in the head like they can on the ground when they're head down. Well most people in this sport probably hit something accidently on exit or in the air pretty hard and they haven't noticed it until they landed. only then it started to hurt them or they found out they're bleeding. Sameway most people can't feel the blood rushing in their had. It's called adrenaline ! "George just lucky i guess!"
  18. huh great question. i'm looking forward to all the answers. All i know is that it all has to do with how mentally strong you are. It also depends a lot how well are you mentally prepared for the jump, and how well did you sleep last night what did you eat,... It all has some influence on how much you can relax in the air.   19. Hmm what was the last time that you jumped before those two jumps... ? Something to also consider is that you have fairly low number of jumps, which means that with every jump you sense more things. something that you might thought were two seconds before, could now seem like 4 seconds. especially if you didn't jump for a while. I'm not saying that's the case, it's just an option "George just lucky i guess!"
  20. You just reminded me that i did just that a couple of hours ago (today on a dz). Did a braked approach. I slowed it down for about 20-30% (toggles little higher than shoulder height) and at what seemed to be the right height finished the flare. I did 2 steps which equals about 2m. and the landing was like stepping from a chair, not hard at all. but if i'd brake it to 50% before, that could be a little harder landing. But it sure is doable. So what i want to say is that Competition cobalt can be landed on very small places too, if you have the skills. Mine CC 120 is loaded 1.75. You just have to practice "George just lucky i guess!"
  21. ugh, i havent jumped it even once, so i can't help you with that. All i know is that if it's not too used it's a good canopy. At least that how it loos like watching from the ground. The guy that has it, flies and lands it almost as impressive as other guys with stilletos and cobalts. That's all i can say about it... "George just lucky i guess!"

  24. Hmm what do you actually wanna know about it. i'm from slovenia and know Stane (the designer of ace) pretty well. Well you'll have trouble getting a new one, because they are not made anymore. Ace is an old model, which was replaced by impulse(alpha). After impulse it came cobalt. Actually if you order impulse now, it's the same as cobalt, it just kept its old name. So impulse/alpha/cobalt or whatever do you want to call it, replaced Ace. the sizes for impulse/cobalt i think are 150,135,120,105,... If you have any more questions, just ask.
