  1. Noooo, not at all just pictures of naked skydiving chicks and orgies from time to time "George just lucky i guess!"

huh i never jump neither xaos or velocity. but keep in mind that the canopy is designed and constructed for a specific lineset. and changing the lineset between "so much" different canopies could be dangerous... but i don't know the differences between thos two, so i think you should speak about this with both manufacturers, Velocity and xaos... "George just lucky i guess!"
  3. first of all, don't compare canopies with planes (sailplanes), because we don't have a tailwing and the whole thing is different. if the glide ratio changes by increasing weight? hmm some say it does, some say it doesnt. ask any canopy designer to calculate you the angle of attack for some specific canopy with someone specific under it, and he will go , it's a huge think to calculate... and as far as i know there weren't much practical tests done under canopies to confirm this. but one thing is true, drag plays a big role, so if you just downsize, like it was said, all bets are off, because the wing is smaller in proportion to your body than a bigger wing... it's not just aspect ratio. most of everything is in airfoil (profile), including friser pressure. some canopies have center of lift more to the front of the canopy, some more to the back. so obvious the ones with the center of lift to the front will have big friser pressure... and vice versa... this post could go on forever, canopy has so many variables that all change the way of flight... not to mention the line attachment points, lenght of lines, trim, wing design (crossbraced, zbraced, normal,...) 9cell/7cell, tapered (front, back) not tapered, material,... "George just lucky i guess!"
  4. where's the option i know the risks i'm learning how to swoop, but i don't need to donwsize just yet... "George just lucky i guess!"
  5. i'm the "terminator" now, huh what did i terminate. i thought i'm george in skydiving circles nice hearing you're still kicking, with 400 more jumps (i hate you). yeah we're thinking about going there, but we'll see bacause we're gettin a turbine plane this year, and the bank account isn't that big... and even if we do go we (well at least i) plan to do more training jumps, so a lot les solo and fun jumps than last year. and so far it looks like it will be more than just 3 of us from slovenia... (if we'll go there at all...)
  6. like it was said, don't jump them... otherwise don't use front risers or abruptly change your speed or direction. stay in full flight, fly very conservatively and be prepared for a collapse of your canopy or sudden move in any direction... Also depends on how strong winds are and the obstacles in the upwind direction... "George just lucky i guess!"
  7. Bonehead optik, redesigned with carbon fibers... "George just lucky i guess!"
  8. i totaly agree with you... "George just lucky i guess!"
  9. Anytime for the scary rodeo !!! You're coming too? We'll be there from 1st till 6th april. "George just lucky i guess!"
  10. Just turn with your head (look where you wanna turn) and the rest of the body will folow. Well at least that works for me in head up and head down. "George just lucky i guess!"
  11. in short, NO. (or you shouldn't see any difference) but the problem is that in real not even two canopies (though from the same manufacturer) aren't exactly the same. the difference is never just in taper (eliptical or square) it's always difference in trim, or airfoil or something else also... So it really depends on, which two canopies do you have in mind... "George just lucky i guess!"
  12. huh taht's like "it's only life", well at least for some of us...
  13. get back in the air!!! As soon as possible, it's probably just some sort of pshyichical virus or something. nothing that can't be cured with a jump or two, three... "George just lucky i guess!"
  14. hmm, i see it sort of like when you turn your car 90 degrees with a handbrake to a stop. well if you have too much speed, you can carve the canopy (or maybe do a wingover), first to turn away from the obstacle that's in the way of your original direction, and second, when wing is in a bank it requieres a lot more input to stay aloft (eats whole lot more energy/speed), so it eats your speed in a second. But don't forget to put your wing above your head (out of bank) and flare to the end before you put your feets on the ground, otherwise it could hurt... "George just lucky i guess!"
  15. ehm because mirage g4 looks better, doh... and they are both about same quality. "George just lucky i guess!"
  16. I can get you the charts (from Atair in slovenia) if you still didn't get them, but unless you wanna send the rig to Atair in slovenia (europe) you'll have to do the reline somewhere else (Like said), i don't know abaut atiar usa though "George just lucky i guess!"
  17. Hmm not really, sabre 2 is also newer design than velocity, but i don't think it's higher performing. Then again what does "higher performing" mean to you? "George just lucky i guess!"
  18. Because i'm free like a bird up there ! "George just lucky i guess!"
  19. most definitely. some time ago i did a few calculations, and it's a huge difference. i mean like it was mentioned, it's said that designers are choosing 7cell canopies instead of 9 because of a line drag. khm well i won't say it's not true but having worse airfoil shape for that little drag difference... back to question: well the diference is that much if a pilot wears a tight dress instead of casual, the difference in drag is more than 7cell compared to 9cell because of line drag (excluding the shape-drag of 9cell comparing to7cell, only the line drag). so if a pilot would curl up in a ball reducing his surface by almost half that would definitely mean a lot !! I mean put a flat hand out of car at 100km/h and then make a fist. Well if at that small surface the difference is so obvious, it has to be even more at the whole body surface... "George just lucky i guess!"
  20. But don't stall it before you put your feet on the ground. That could hurt. "George just lucky i guess!"
  21. I disagree. -How many people died on swooping competitions? -And how many people died on regular skydive without intention to swoop? I don't think swooping is giving skydiving a bad name, the lack of knowledge and common sense is! "George just lucky i guess!"
  22. usually action movies have nice effects. Preferably science fiction with high technology. well usually that's where you hear the surround effects the most... I think. "George just lucky i guess!"
  23. that's one point for doing so, other point for doing the same is that the brake lines are 2cm more in the middle of the lines. Meaning 2cm further away from line-over... "George just lucky i guess!"
