  1. my wife just got her asus yesterday. it sure cames loaded with a lot of probably useless software. what extra stuff have you found useful, and what is worthless? I actually think most of that extra stuff is useless... I uninstalled a bunch of things and should remove some more stuff that is completely pointless... I'd have done a clean install of the OS if I thought I could figure out how to without actually having access to a disk. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  2. or you could buy something with the same/similar hardware for less and not have to pay for two OS's... I know it's not what the OP is looking for but I got an ASUS UL30A-X5 in November 09 and have been very happy wiith it... when its at home I have it attached to my bedroom TV via HDMI (a 37" Sharp LCD) and plug in a USB Media center remote so I can watch netflix movies or hulu in windows media center from across the room... The computer doesn't have an optical drive but I didn't want one... it is a great size and I like the design... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  3. actually my guess is that Toyota discovered a different problem when they were examining the "Floor mat" problem and because there is a potential problem they've suspended production and sales until they have a solution... Suspending Sales and prodcution is the RIGHT thing to do even if it isn't the best thing to do from a sales and image perspective. I would think that a software and/or hardware solution could solve the problem. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  4. Seriously? YES! Materials engineering. OK... this is a strange answer for me... I think her point is that there is/shouldn't be anything abnormal for girls to enjoy science or engineering... and you've made it seem via your statement that not only is it strange for girls to enjoy science but that they only enjoy Materials Engineering... OH, btw... just to stay on topic... I suggest you leave the clip in... there's nothing wrong with having it in your presentation... and fwiw... skydiving isn't the only amazing thing that's possible through the wonders of engineering and science... it's just one thing that's possible... I just want to make sure you don't limit yourself. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  5. Or someone else... Be patient in your progression... this isn't a sprint... it's a marathon... you've got pleanty of time to develop the skills you need to not get yourself or someone else hurt/killed. I'm not an instructor per se but I will be at Start for safety day and have some experience shooting video... and am always happy to talk about shooting video while skydiving (even if that's not the primary goal of the jump) and some of the things I've experienced... 6. I too use smugmug and also use it for the same/similar reason that Dave uses it for... I have yet to earn much if any profit and haven't gotten a great workflow to ensure that every picture has keywording... although last summer was more of a cluster as I spent most of the summer helping plan my wedding and picture/video uploading/processing took a back seat... I would like to experiment with additional customization (and there is a lot that can be done) additionally I would love to be able to make it possible to charge for digital video downloads... (or be able to burn them to DVD for a cost) which would be wonderful to distribute videos in addition to photos. overall I like Smugmug a lot... you can check out my site if you like: www.scottgunstills.com Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...

My wife and I have been there a few times... it's been about a year since we were there last however. Scott Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  8. Like others have said... I would say Thank You and not stress over it too much... My dad and My brother-in-law (sister's husband) regularly fight over the check... it's kind of fun to watch as both of them will try to sneak the check... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  9. I have heard some great things about the Naval Avation museum at Pensacola I'd like to go sometime. I doubt it has the collection that the National Museum of the US Air Force has... It is probably one of the largest collections of historic military aircraft especially if you consider the Presidential hangers. Which includes a presidential aircraft that was at one time used for parachute operations at the US Air Force Academy. http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=572 They also have the Excelsior Gondola effectively the highest step in the world in the back of the museum. I can't say anything about the Smithsonian but I imagine it has a lot of space assets and comercial avatiation which the Air Force Museum doesn't have... 10. So you still jump round canopies, eh? by saying this you're implying that just because he's using a MS product that product hasn't changed in 15 years... its just a bad analogy... is all... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  11. I use thunderbird and like it... however another open source alternative for email is Mulberry. I haven't used it for several years... you can learn about it here. http://www.mulberrymail.com/index.shtml Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  12. Yep... it's chilly and actually is snowing rather heavily at the moment... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  13. FWIW the system in place at our DZ doesn't take much time at all... and whoever edits the video is responsible for encoding the video and preparing it to be uploaded. editing is seperated (and paid seperately, 5.00/edit) from the shooting of the video and often on a busy weekend we'll have a dedicated editor that we can drop video/still memory off with and proceed to start working with the next student, pack, etc... it's actually really nice... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  14. Wait... are you saying I can watch this movie with netflix online? I am so going to watch this flick...
  15. YEp... with as much data I have racked up in the last year a NAS with a RAID setup is something I'm glad I have... I keep the originals on a drive within the computer... and that data is backed up at least 3 nights a week... I have a Synology NAS and really like the backup interface/setup... it has a Gigabit LAN connection, USB, and can act as a web server. Scott Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...

    Man avoids SC

I don't find PeeWee Herman, or any of his clones in SC to be rational, enjoyable or interesting. That's the thing... I kind of enjoy watching a good arguement... as long as I'm not the one in it... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...

    Man avoids SC

I don't know... I kind of enjoy going into SC to read the posts there... it certainly helps that I'm not so bold at to think that everyone should have the same opinion about things as I do... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  18. The potential energy in one of those springs is very high... it's very important to be careful... I like to tinker around the house, car, etc but I would leave that sort of thing to someone with more experience then I as well... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  19. if you do install the spring yourself be sure to include a safety cable that passes through the spring... I had both of the springs in the garage in the duplex I rent break last spring and I'm really glad that my cars or bicycles were not in the garage when it happened as they literally flew across the garage with what seemed to be a substantial force when it happened. in my situation (since both springs were in pretty bad shape) the owner replaced the extension springs with a coil spring above the door... and boy am I glad as it works soooooo much better with the coil spring. 20. My wife doesn't carry a purse... so the question really isn't applicable. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  21. My mazda was really simple... after I figured out the method... All it required was the removal of a grommit behind the bulb assembly... The fog lights required a bit more manipulation but were still not overly tough... Scott Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  22. we recieved a letter from them 6-8 months ago... but it only had $2 in it... I didn't fill out the survey... but I also didn't send them back the money... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...

  24. It will help the autofocus if the WA conversion is on but you are better off just using manual focus. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  25. I'm trying to be more civilized then raising hell at the dealership... but if that doesn't work then perhaps I'll go about it via more clearly disappointed means... It's still possible that they will resolve the situation... and I'm hoping that will be the case... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
