  1. I've never done Krav Maga... (and it's been years since I've done Judo) but tossing people around is a lot of work... so if you're doing that kind of thing in Krav Maga then it's probably a good workout...
  2. Judo... now that was a workout... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  3. But a Mac Book Pro is an apple... although I'm a PC guy and actually kind of like my ASUS laptop a UL30A... If I was getting an ASUS now I'd probably go for the U30Jc... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  4. It really depends on the skillset of the flyer... there are several of us that primarily do FS and have lots of experience doing belly flying (e.g. Niklas, John, Mike, myself) and thus we primarily are on our belly shooting tandems... (except for perhaps exits where even I freefly for a short period of time... although I haven't dialed in front float exits...) whereas several others (eg, Brad, Mel) are primarily freeflyers will generally mix it up and incorporate backflying into their diveflow... one or the other isn't right or wrong... I do agree that keeping feet or hands out of the frame (unless you give a hand or foot to the student) is not good camera control or body control on the part of the camera flyer... and I'm even reluctant to say seeing the "ghost hand" come in from the side of the frame is a good thing... but that's just my opinion... other people are welcome to have other opinions of their own... I'm also not the most experienced camera flier around... as I only have about 600-700 camera jumps... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  5. He didn't spend the entire time at that distance and he more or less did the transistion to backflying towards the end of the skydive... and had started backing up for the deplyment... I also had started moving back as well... Niklas actually had the most interesting/dynamic workflow in the sky... he also doesn't backfly but with well over 10K skydives on his belly he is very good at getting what he wants... although all 4 of the tandem video fliers I went with are very good at what they do... as far as my favorite I'm split between 1 and 2... as I really enjoy the expression on the students face in the first shot along with permagrin on Mel's Face... Whereas the second shot is just cool... I got some others that i liked as well but haven't post-processed yet... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  6. I agree wholeheartedly... and support her fully in what ever way I can...
  7. I agree the bigger door of the caravan is much easier to launch 4-way from... as for your drive... it could be worse considering what my wife does for training weekends... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  8. And that's the good side of the airport to land out! Scott, you wouldn't happen to have the video from the 4-way we did where I got shoved into the door would you? If I shot the video... then... I've got it here somewhere... I haven't been through my videos from the weekend yet. I'll probably copy them to my laptop and fiddle with them this coming weekend... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  9. Awe come on... its not so bad... these 4 managed to pull it off on their first jump of the day... nevermind, none of the other groups I filmed successfully did it the rest of the day... and that Niklas Hemlin was in the outside Center position... but come on... its not so hard... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  10. I agree wholeheartedly... Scott Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  11. I can't say I have one favorite type of pie... in the summer I really like my cherry pie... in the fall I like to make/enjoy pumpkin pie made with real pumpkins... and winter I enjoy a derby pie (pecan with Chocolate chips)... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  12. These could also be posted in the " Any pictures of yourself Working?" except they aren't of me working... as a camera flier I don't get many pictures of myself working and I figured I'd chase some of my friends/coworkers at the dz to get them working... I also got to see their "workflow" which was very interesting... and a lot of fun... 1 and 2 are my favorites from the weekend... but I got several other great ones... (1) is of Mel Johnson, (2) is of Niklas Hemlin, and (4) is of Brad Hunt. I hope you enjoy. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...

    Poison Ivy

if you haven't already... take an oral antihistamine... the rash from the poison ivy is more or less an alergic reaction... topical antihistamines can help but oral antihistamines can also help... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  14. If you feel that way... send it to me... I'd be happy to put it to use...
  15. But the automation isn't absolutely necessary to create a tandem video... a template is more then enough to do so... and Joe Schmo at home doesn't really need the automation capablilities of Vegas Pro... A DZ/business might be able to justify it... whereas your home user can certainly get by with vegas movie studio... Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum is a very capable editor... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  16. I hate to say it but your best bet is to talk to other local videographers for advice... Although I'm sure you have looked at it there is also a lot of great information about camera flying in the FAQ at the top of this forum... as far as settings go there's really no end all be all answer to the settings that you have to use. The link posted above written by Trunk has a lot of good information. things like SD/HD all depend on what you plan to do with the footage after you shoot... For example: At my DZ in Ohio I always shot in HD whether I was shooting tandems or fun jumps... however in at the current DZ they can't work with HD footage and thus I have to switch over to SD... There's nothing inherently wrong with shooting in SD but I perfer having HD footage... and have a computer that can work with it... As for other settings: Most people disable autofocus but it has to be done every morning since it resets every 12 hours. I believe most people disable face recognition/Smile shutter as it can affect autofocus as well. Finally, This sort of thing (camera settings) is discussed regularly so you might try searching for ideas... Finally, have fun and be safe. 17. I saw him and Luigi jumping in Perris back in Feb when my wife and I were out there for our honeymoon. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  18. I think you meant poorly executed PLF... unless you planned to land on your tailbone in the first place... edited to add: sorry about the injury... just cause I don't want to sound too inconsiderate... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  19. But you have an Incredible. Why did you get that instead of the iPhone? Brains has an iPhone... I have an Incredible... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  20. I just got the HTC Incredible and have been very happy with the device. I really like the Sense User Interface by HTC. I believe Motorola is about to release an updated version of the Motorola Droid that doesn't have a querty keyboard... The Incredible is a great phone however... I tend to be very google oriented (gmail, google voice, google maps, etc...) and the interaction/with google applications is wonderful and something I really like. 21. I can answer this question... when I was younger I had an interest in lockpicks, locksmithing, etc... mostly because I was curious how locks, combination and based... locks functioned. But it's the same interest that makes me wonder how my car runs/work, why a plane flys/etc... and is why I grew up to be an engineer/scientist. Scott Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  22. I'll believe you when you start passing more powerful cars than what you are using on your local race track. Unless you are pushing yourself with success in the controlled confines of a race track, how can you know you really do possess superior driving skills? Whereas I understand what you are saying... I don't think the driving skills used in a race car directly translate to the skills used during a daily commute. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  23. well... I'm off to lunch... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  24. Aw honey you just broke their imagination. I was just going to make some popcorn for them. Sorry... does this mean I'm to be spanked later... cause I wouldn't like that... ... nope wouldn't like that at all... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  25. Well he is always poking me... I cleaned the table bc it was a bit sticky... not so much the clutter. ;) I just want to clarify... that the table being stick has nothing to do with anything I did... But I am excited that it's clean... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
