  1. Well, if they're flag officers, I think you're technically supposed to. Of course, at group... you're pretty surprised to see someone salute someone lower than a Lt Col. ok, let me clarify... they regularly salute my car and my wife's car... and last I checked I'm not a flag officer... far from it... 2. We're at a navy base right now... and my wife gets saluted all the time... I find it very strange... and so does my wife... they also salute the cars... which I find odd as well... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  3. I have a Schick Quatro at home and use Gillette Fragrence Free sensitive skin gel. I wet my face with warm water, dry my hands and apply a little gel to my hand and apply it to my face. I fill the sink with water and rinse the blade between each pass... It takes me about 2-4 minutes to shave in the morning and I clean the sink after. I also keep a razor (Mach3 Turbo - Power, which vibrates a bit) in my desk at the office on the off chance that I forget to shave (which rarely happens) which I perfer to have at the office because I can more easily shave with that razor without the need to use a shaving cream/gel/etc... I shave every day I have to go to work and almost never when I don't have to work... (I don't particularly like shaving and wouldn't if I had the choice.) I have tried electric razors but I don't feel like they worked as well and they are not nearly as comfortable... I do have a rather heavy beard... and get about a 1:00 shadow... 5. Because, you know, there's no way an iPad could ever be plugged into ship's power. Besides, it's still a good idea to have alternatives (i.e. paper charts, a flashlight, etc, on the off chance that the electronic devices fail...) Seriously... 6. article in the daily AOPA Aviation e-Brief mentions a study to start a dz at an airport in NH... http://www.fosters.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=%2f20110301%2fGJNEWS02%2f703019883%2f-1%2fFOSNEWS0413 2nd skydiving study at airport to be conducted Tuesday, March 1, 2011 GILFORD — The Federal Aviation Administration will be conducting an aeronautical study concerning the parachute jump zone at the Laconia Airport being proposed by Skydive Laconia, a group of professional skydivers looking to open a business at the airport. The purpose of this study is to determine what effect skydiving would have on aircraft flying in and out of the airport as well as the operation of air navigation facilities. This is the second study being conducted for a landing zone after the FAA deemed the previously proposed landing area unsafe. In the study, consideration will be given to all facts relevant to the effect of the activity on existing and planned airspace use, air navigation facilities, airports, aircraft operations, procedures and minimum flight altitudes and the air traffic control system. Four locations are being considered for a possible landing zone for skydivers to land which are all located on the airport property. Anyone can submit comments for the FAA's consideration. To be eligible for consideration, comments must be relevant to the effect the activity would have on aviation, must provide sufficient detail to permit a clear understanding, must contain the Aeronautical Study Number (2011-ANE-4-NRA) and must be received on or before March 31. For further assistance, contact the FAA field office at 781-238-7621 or e-mail Tracey McInnis at tracey. [email protected]. Comments can be mailed to: Federal Aviation Administration, Airports Division, 12 New England Executive Park, Burlington MA 01803. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...

  8. I've worked at 2 DZs with editors that will edit for you... At one of them the editors are paid by the dz directly, on computer systems/dvds provided by the dropzone and are delivered to the students almost imediately. The videographers do have the option to do the edits themselves as well, the rate paid to the editors is $5 and doesn't have an effect on the videographers pay. At the other dz the I've been at the editors are also paid $5 and I never really figured out if the systems were owned by the dz or the editors but paying for the editing was the responsiblity of the videographer. 9. I couldn't figure out if Yes or No was the right answer to this question so I settled for Boobies... because I like them... just ask my wife... .... I know you do... Did you know that boobies sometimes get cancer? Sometimes boobies get so much cancer that the doctors go and cut the boobies and take them away! but but... boobies can't get cancer... I like boobies too much... what do you like about boobies? :) well... they're round, and soft, and squeezable, and kissable, and just wonderful in every way... ... they're boobies...

  13. There are a few close up shots of my setup in the "post your camera helmet" thread... I'd post a link but I just posted one a bit over a week ago... heck the thread I posted my link in is on page one... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  14. I figured this might be the best place to put this post... I swapped out my Workstation HDD for a OCZ HSDL SSD and Dammit... now I'm going to have to upgrade my processor and get more/faster memory!!! btw my system Specs are as follows: - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (rev 2.0) - Intel Core i7 [email protected] GHz - Thermaltake Bigwater 760is Liquid Cooled - 12 GB G.Skill Ripjaws PC3 10666 (DDR3 1333) - OS Drive - OCZ 360GB HSDL (which is wicked fast) - Raw Footage (2 TB effective space) - RAID 10+Spare: 4 x 1 TB WD Caviar Black SATA2 + 1 TB Caviar Green as (Spare). - Working Data Drive (1 TB effecive space) - RAID 0: 2 x 500 GB SATA3 (6 GB/s) for Rendering, etc. - RAID 1 - Storage/built in backup storage (2 TB effective) - 2 x TB Caviar Green HDD - 3 ViewSonic 22" - 1920x1080 across the bottom and an an older LD widescreen above them, they're mounted with an Ergotron - ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 - useful for x-plane spanned across three displays not so much for video editing. - All Loaded into a Thermaltake Armor+ Full Tower case... - External Backup consisting of a Synology Cube Station - CS-407 with 4 x 1.5 TB drives in a RAID 5 setup for ~4.5 GB of effective space (backups to the external are performed weekly at a minimum.) All in all a pretty damn good system... I haven't done any rendering yet... but startup is wicked fast, and starting/running programs is also noticeably faster as well. 15. as for the dimes... I'd bet they're just falling out of pockets unoticed... being such a light coin a dime is probably more prone to being inadvertantly extracated from pockets then another coin... but that's just my guess... the only other possibility is a gremlin or elf... wandering around leaving dimes in places... they are also known for that sort of thing... 16. It's probably best that she not see you if you're running around the house dressed like that. Oh, I don't think so... Its too damn cold here to be running around the house in that kind of outfit... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  17. Front switches, on both ! Is that the explanation...& if so, why doesn't it turn on every night, & why the same time when it does ? because you probably aren't actually turning off the computer... and there is probaly some background process that is scheduled to be completed at/around the same time everynight... so the computer turns on to accomplish that task. turning off a computer unfortunately or fortunately depending on your perspective... isn't usually as simply a matter of pressing an on/off switch... 18. I voted for jeans and a white tank top but... I really like sexy/cute panties and a white tank top... Sigh... why does Beth have to be out of town this week. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  19. The Cessna 350/400 and both the Cirrus SR-20 and SR-22 are side stick GA aircraft. I'm sure there are others out there but those are two of the major manufacturers that make aircraft with sidesticks. Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  20. That's a neat setup... I like the idea of using a pelican case as a computer case... I am curious if static/grounding since the polypropylene the cases are made from are good for build up of negative static electricy? I imagine it could be managed... but thats the firs thing that comes to mind when I see your setup... other then that I think it's kind of cool... 21. perhaps some of the early photos are... however I know at least my current setup is on there with a CX-100 and a Canon XSi. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=110185; http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=110186; http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=110187; http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=110188; Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  22. That's a little harsh perhaps... I actually started jumping with a side mount camera helmet found that it wasn't what I wanted fairly quickly and transistioned into a FTP... having said that the only difference is that I had other jumpers to get advice and see what I liked and didn't like regarding setup... so you're best bet is always to speak to other local videographers and get advice from them... I've had people ask me for advice and I'm more then happy to help people create safe setups... now about pictures... there is a thread here in the camera forum full of pictures of camera helmets... a search would have turned it up... but because I'm a nice guy... (at least I try to be... ) here it is... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1324044 Pictures of my FTP are in there along with a number of other helmet setups... Edited to add: I do agree that you should start slowly... I did a few hundred jumps (at least) with just video and only then added a still camera. 23. They might as well censor the word "Chicks" while their at it as that is offensive to women... edited to add: Great song by the way!!! One of my all time favorite songs!!! Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
  24. So he exercised his right to peaceful protest... despite knowing the outcome and is therefore a Darwin award candidate? Really?!? There's little to no chance of this individual dying in this action and thus although he might not be the most brilliant protester but he certainly isn't a Darwin Award Candidate...
