My Father Died Today . . .

Recommended Posts

I'm so sorry Nick. May you be filled with peace and fond memories. My dad passed away when I was 30, The pain of that loss has diminished over time, but my fondness to recall his smile, his words, his laugh, etc. have increased. Again, may you be filled with peace and fond memories.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, especially so close to the holidays.
I know it's not much coming from some one you don't know but my deepest sympathies.
I wish I had 1% of what you had with your father.
Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay.

The only thing that falls from the sky is birdshit and fools!

I went through this last year.

Your only hope is that your parents do not suffer in their last years
and pass quietly.

My father did bury two kids and it was so painful that it was unbearable to watch, so you can be grateful that he was spared that.

It is a very personal experience, so take some time off and collect your thoughts.

So sorry to hear that. Losing a parent is something you expect in life but it is still very hard to deal with.
Give yourself the time and space to grieve thoroughly, then enjoy the memories that you made together.
Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours.

Nick,
We buried my Dad over 15 years ago.
My Mom passed this year on May 31st.
I know that your heart is heavy.
I'm so glad you and "Pops" had a good relationship.

Neither of my parents suffered.
The evening before my Dad died I was helping him into bed, when I asked him if we should call an ambulance for him, he just replied that he was very tired and just wanted to go to sleep.
He passed peacefully early the next morning.
You can't ask for a better way to go.

Not to turn this into a religious thread, but I live in the comfort that we will all see each other again.

My condolences to you and your family.
