  1. shoot which guy? guy pulling cops to the ground? guy kicking cops in the face? guy resisting arrest? Shoot them all! "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. My rig is covered under Erie for theft, fire, etc. It is not covered in case of cutaway (loss in use). "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. 'Tis the season of giving...Ladies?? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. Fivethirtyeight.com suggests there are about 1000 police shootings a year. Much higher than most sources. You can read their methodology here: http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/another-much-higher-count-of-police-homicides/ "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. I am going by memory but I believe the Collins Lanyard is not available to license separatelt from the Skyhook. Yes, trap is a terrible name for anything involving a canopy. Nobody will pack it until some instructions are available. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. Spectra is used extensively in marine applications, so it is at the very least extremely resistant to moisture "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. Wouldn't suggest that the above the neck rule is always a great guide, but if you have fever you should rest: Experts like to cite a rule of thumb known as the “neck rule.” If your symptoms are all located above your neck (stuffy nose, scratchy throat, headache), you almost certainly have a head cold and can hit the road or treadmill safely. If, on the other hand, you have a fever, congestion in your chest and lungs, or feel achy, it is probably a sign of flu, bronchitis, or another more serious ailment, and you should rest up "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. Like live recordings or actually live? Either way - nice list. Sam Smith has a great voice - this is a pretty laid back soulful track. https://soundcloud.com/samsmithworld/samsmithasaprocky I saw all of them live at Lockn' Music festival Except Trombone Shorty. Decided we hadn't had enough music so we went to see him last Thursday in Charlottesville. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. Police department in my city recently got a "free" MRAPs vehicle. To replace the other assault vehicle they had. That they brought out 1-2 times a year. We gave that one to the city down the street. neither one have any significant crime and the idea that the police need this kind of vehicle is ludicrous. Lowers my already low opinion of the local police: http://www.oldsouthhigh.com/2014/08/25/the-hpd-wants-to-accessorize-its-new-military-surplus-mrap-with-a-battering-ram-and-other-stuff/ "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  11. I've got a rigging and packing customer with them. If nobody else puts anything up I will try to get some pictures this weekend. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. I generally tend towards the GAM (grown-ass man) part of the spectrum when it comes to packing equipment. If I have concerns that the equipment is not the most appropriate then I will make recommendations, and sometimes very strong recommendations, to the owner about replacement. If the equipment is airworthy, though, I will generally pack it. I think there is a sliding scale for all of us though. I would pack pretty much anything airworthy for 5000 jump CReW Dog w/ 450 jumps in the past year who has modified his own main repeatedly. I would refuse to pack for the newbie who has been taken advantage of and sold gear that is totally inappropriate for him and doesn't know any better. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. This again?? Yawn... "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. Deeply improbably hypotheticals are a really poor basis for moral or ethical reasoning. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  15. Yup, similar things have happened before... http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/05/nyregion/unarmed-man-is-charged-with-wounding-bystanders-shot-by-police-near-times-square.html?_r=0 "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. With all due respect, I think 105.43 applies to the jumper and pilot in command if you read the entire thing in context. (b) is specific to the rigger but (c) which is the part that applies to the AAD, I would think the subject refers back to the opening paragraph. Illegal is a bit strong, as we usually use that term for criminal activity and this would be a civil offense. I fill out the card in the usual manner, noting the date of packing. I then add a line indicating when the AAD goes out of date. ("AAD expires on XX/XX/XXXX") "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. It might be against manufacturer recommendations, but is it really illegal? Per the FAA? USPA? What if the AAD is out of maintenance, but you just don't turn it on - would that still be "illegal"? I'm curious, since the AAD is not a mandatory piece of equipment... FAR 105:43 (c) If installed, the automatic activation device must be maintained in accordance with manufacturer instructions for that automatic activation device. Must in federal regulations is mandatory language. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. Did you buy your beer yet? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. There's your problem. Someone can't possibly depend on you and you alone for her "entertainment". I think someone who doesn't have any interests/hobbies/passions outside of a coupling is a huge red flag. I'd beat feet ASAP but I wouldn't have let myself get into a relationship with someone without any depth in the first place. ] Yup. The problem isn't that she was a wuffo the problem is she was not a healthy individual to be in a relationship "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

    Argus

What is your dog in this fight? The Argus is a piece of shit, and now it is a poorly supported piece of shit with lots and lots of use restrictions. People bought them to save a buck over other options, and it cost them. I have no dog in this fight except to see accurate information portrayed about all AADs. I do not use an Argus. I advise my customers against using an Argus. I will pack an Argus if it is allowed and my customer chooses it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. Of course they can decide where to recruit. They can't collude with their competitors on where to recruit...'we will only recruit Cal-Tech and you can have MIT and since we won't be directly competing both of us can offer lower starting salaries' "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

True for all AADs Some other brands have a much longer list of failing to save lives when they should. A longer list of SYSTEM failures where the AAD worked as designed but.the rest.of.the system failed. And the AAD didn't capture the loop. I agree the other AADs didn't capture the loop. Other AADs have various failure modes both killing and failing to save people. The idea that other parts of the system failed is, IMHO, speculation, as is the conclusion the AAD worked as designed. So little information has been shared it is possible that you have more conclusive knowledge and can state that as fact but I have asked people who know about more information about those incidents and they either don't know it or are not willing to share it.
