  1. I choose to start in the fall, knowing that I may jump through the winter (I am in VA, so a bit warmer than you and my DZ is open weekends all year round). I'm still trying to get my 2nd jump in. One student at the DZ started after me, though and was trying to get his final check dive in last weekend. Not sure if he has it by now. You can get through the AFF fast depending on circumstances. I am not that interested in rushing and I don't mind the cold. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. I just got my learner's permit, but it was only a paper test. Have to practice up to get my license but hope to have it by Christmas. Mostly going to go sight-seeing riding in the National Parks, I think, no commuter stuff for me. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. Thanks skymama, I can see myself hanging out around here a good bit. Greg I was mixed on whether to do my AFF this fall/winter or wait until spring but decided to go for it. It will take me a while since I can pretty much only jump every other weekend (shared custody+work). I don't mind the cold and have good cold weather gear from running and other outdoor hobbies. 4. Firefox + adblock extension = I have no idea what you are talking about. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. I did my first tandem on Aug. 15th of this year and was immediately hooked. I've signed up for the AFF course and have been back twice to jump. The first day there was a plane malfunction and the 2nd time there was too much wind. Anyway, I guess that is skydiving. I'm going back again Columbus Day weekend. Anyway, glad to have found the dropzone forums and to say hello. My home drop zone is Skydive Orange.Quote "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. I am in the same boat. I made a first tandem and was instantly hooked. I went back a month later for my first AFF--did all the training and then the nose strut broke on the plane before I got to go up. Went back this past weekend intending to do my Cat B and first Cat C jump. Did all the bookwork and ground training for Cat C but never got in the air as there were clouds and winds all day. Trying again on Columbus Day weekend. At least I have three days to try to get some jumping in. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
