  1. I believe they allow it for divorce in VA. I have seen several such statements in the local papers, although I haven't looked up the statute. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. This is my concern...I don't see USPA having the will to enforce this. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. I jump a 190 loaded just over 1:1. I am a packer. I noticed a significant improvement when I started using a semi-stowless bag. I still get some off heading (but more 45s and less 180s). I have not noticed any difference in end-cell closures. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. Well, the impulse to save money on his defense is what ended up with this innocent man being locked up unjustly on death row for so many year. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. I've jumped at a fair number of US dropzones (not as many as some, but more than a couple). In my experience, every dropzone I have ever been at has had nearly universal compliance with seat belt use. Any time I've seen issues it has been incidental (a jumper really struggles to find and fix seatbelt before taxiing) and not systematic. I'm not naive and I know that is not the case everywhere, but it has been everywhere I have been. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. What a stupid waste of resources. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. It's shocking that you could read that article and get that message from it. It is also hard to believe a person could read about the systemic failures of the system and then say that we really need to rely on that system as an arbiter of life and death. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. Hi Jerry, Too long, IMO. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. You didn't read the article, did you? Because your remarks make no sense in response to it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. http://www.shreveporttimes.com/story/opinion/readers/2015/03/20/lead-prosecutor-offers-apology-in-the-case-of-exonerated-death-row-inmate-glenn-ford/25049063/ So eloquent, in a very short article he summarizes so many of the failings that are at the heart of why the death penalty is such poor public policy. He knows because he was so intimately part of this particular case and can speak to motivations, biases, etc. that he experienced. These are not particular to him, and do not mean that he operated with malfeasance. They are simply part of the human condition, which is why they can't be fixed or patched and why the death penalty is not sustainable. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  11. Dave DeWolf's tools are very reasonably priced (he sells complete sets as well as individual pieces). If you are buying new. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. You can lecture me all you want on that database. The feds just said that they don't have a way to accurately count that number and used statistical techniques to come up with a new estimate, which was double the previous admitted number. That's the feds own reporting. You can call that political all you want. This article is merely an analysis of the statistical methods used to arrive at the new estimate. If you want to argue with math and call it politics then have at it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. Anyone comparing US police shootings to unreported deaths in Syria and Guatemala is at the least a bit dramatic, at the most disingenuous. I do not think you understand. It is not comparing the situations to each other directly. It is comparing the means of statistical analysis employed when data is imperfect. You are right, it is not a cover-up, it is poor data collection. That can be remedied by using the right statistical analysis. If you read and understand the entire article (and have some basic understanding of statistics) you will understand this. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. Back to the original topic. New report released in which the number estimate by the feds is doubled, and still too low. Troubling that we don't even know basic statistics about the incidence rate. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/a-new-estimate-of-killings-by-police-is-way-higher-and-still-too-low/ "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  15. I would generally so go for it, but like several have pointed out there are both risks and benefits. One of the increased risks of age is that if you do get injured, you will not recover as quickly or possibly as well. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. I wish everybody shared that philosophy. I think it is particularly bad that USPA, which has a bunch of this information in compiled form, will not release that information to its members. I've asked. At least two other members and riggers have also told me that they have asked with no success. I think if there as enough outcry from the members they would release it. I understand that some of these reports get released in parachutist. I don't think that is all the information they have. I've compiled my own list from parachutist and from dropzone. Often there is pretty significant information missing from those reports (details on equipment, most prominently). "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. There are a lot more than 3 instances. I believe iy is in double digits. USPA and PIA have a list but good luck getting them to share it. I've made my own list of the ones I know about buy I don't pretend it is complete. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. Really? No other hippy skydivers heading to Chicago for a real good time? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. Anybody going to make their way to Chicago over the July 4th weekend for the three shows to say goodbye to the guys and thanks for the 50 years? I'll be there. Just thought I'd see who the other Deadhead skydivers might be... What a long strange trip it's been. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  20. Awesome, will do at least something to limit the scandalous abuse of American citizens' rights "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  21. Why? is that just a DZ rule? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. i personally hate online learning. I know it is convenient, but I honestly think it is an inferior way to teach. It is very cheap for colleges, though, so there is no doubt why they like it. You may want to consider if online learning is consistent with your learning style. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. Sex is like pizza--even when its not so good it is pretty good. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. So just FYI the tunnel is running and they are in a soft opening/preview right now with opening to the public allegedly being 1/15 "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  25. Yes. Watched this play out last year--guy asked how much an X-ray was going to cost him--cash. The desk had no idea. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
