  1. Just for education purposes--Gelvenor is technically the name of the fabric mill. They are still in business and still making fabric for canopies: http://www.gelvenor.co.za/ Many skydivers have just referred to this as Gelvenor. The "stickier" fabric (also bulkier and cheaper) that they made that was used in the Nitro, the hornet and some other canopies was Gelvenor LCN 0286. It was a polymer based yarn. Ceased production probably to comply with pollution standards. Gelvenor now makes zp fabric using the siliconizing method virtually identical to that of other fabric mills. 4. Yeah, I was pretty sure it was a Hayseed dixie song. Incidentally they love playing Finland. For those unfamiliar w/ Hayseed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjAu3Yyn09A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRqzzOwSssU And a queen cover too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbpFkiYeNKk "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. I'm not a murderer. As far as the tables being turned, they're not. So nothing more to say here. Neither was Cameron Todd Willingham: http://www.themarshallproject.org/2014/08/03/did-texas-execute-an-innocent-man-willingham/ "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. I don't believe Kallend does, but perhaps you should consider that some other people posting on here might. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. You have perfectly described a God of the Gaps!!! "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. Ok, anybody who can decide God doesn't exist should have no trouble making a hobby out of not collecting stamps. But how does that work without using faith to convince yourself that you are actually doing it? ... I understand what each of those words means individually but you have put them together in a way that I have no idea what you are saying. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. According to the Vigil rigger's manual If you have a start-up problem with a permanent display of the ‘’HELLO’’ message, replacing the control unit will most of the time solve the problem. Also, according to that manual there is a two year warranty. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. Belief or non-belief in something issues up a set of criteria used to construct our individual realities. Believe or don't believe, you still use faith to construct your world view. In my construct I surrender to a Higher Power. In your reality, you decide what is good and evil. ... Atheism is my religion the same way not collecting stamps is my hobby. 11. Here's a list of all the FSDO's in FL: http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/field_offices/fsdo/?state=FL "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. Google tells me: Orlando FSDO-Designated Parachute Rigger Examiner Mike Gainey Deland, FL (850) 623-1741 (H) (850) 5163401 (C) is one DPRE who can administer the practical. There may be others in the state--that is just what my google-fu turned up quickly. You can contact the FSDO closest to you and they should be able to tell you where to take the written and if there are DPRE's closer to you. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. Yes, when I asked my understanding is that if I hit hard enough to cause damage to the titanium in my leg that I would likely have multiple significant other injuries to where a broken femur would be the least of my worries. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. That is not a legal standard. "beyond a reasonable doubt" is the highest standard we have and it seems a woefully inadequate basis on which to enforce the death penalty. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  15. Every injury is different. I suffered a femur break and synmoidisys injury in my ankle last November. it took me until March until I was jumping again. I would not expect a doctor to be able to tell you when you were ready. I personally never asked and had to educate my PT about the forces that I would need to be able to withstand. I upsized for quite a number of jumps while returning. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. True. There is not really any sort of systematic treatment of hell in the Bible, just bits and pieces that have been imaginatively interpreted. The main sources for a modern conception of hell are the Inferno and Paradise Lost. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. Posting this here a new article in SI, about a tandem accident from 2009 in Houston with Dave Hartstock. http://www.si.com/edge/2014/07/28/skydiving-accident-unifies-pair-forever Well, done article and well worth a read in my opinion. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. Ok cool..that's good to know. I have a 99% FEELING that the kid is definitely not mine...and if my ex wanted to get me to pay some child support it would have happened by now right? I mean, that was 6 years ago, so if she wanted to really come after me she would have done so already..that's my thinking. But if in the future she wanted to contest it and do a DNA testing i'll be more than happy to donate sperm for it. It is possible that you have already been identified and the window for contesting via DNA has already passed. There are strict limits on the timeline for such things and in the event the ex doesn't have an address for you the court can declare you the father without notifying you (usually some sort of "public notice" must be put in the Newspaper. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/dallas-man-exonerated-for-rape-after-being-cleared-by-dna-tests Not a death penalty case but another one that ought to give people who support the death penalty a great deal of pause. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  20. I have found several cousins... and we have a family DNA project going on to figure out some of our family lines that we hit brick walls on. I too contacted a 1st cousin who I have not seen since 1976... he just sort of disappeared and even though I tried to find him several times over the years I had no luck. Then voila.. I found him on Facebook and sent a message and 6 months later he looked in his "other" folder and found the shout out. ( stuff gets directed there if you have set fairly stringent contact criteria.) I just sent him a DNA test so now we will be able to sort out the direct male line DNA since he was the only son of an only son of an only son. Its amazing who you find out is related thru your DNA.. I have several cousins.. somewhat distant of course, who are on Dizzy.
  21. No such thing. The best we have is "beyond a reasonable doubt" which is the same standard for all criminal convictions. Exactly. Unfortunately many of those convictions in death penalty cases have proven to have quite a bit of doubt associated with them. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. Did you translate that yourself? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. Goddammit, for a day and half in the 19th Century I was an ant in Central Africa. You bastard! I recall being a bowl of petunias and a giant falling sperm whale simultaneously. But I don't remember if it turned out well or not.... ^You got any of that to share??? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. Let's have less hate because posts like this are what Bonfire should be about! "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  25. Some insurance policies cover Viagara, some don't. Some cover it with restrictions. There are different co-payments and limitations under different plans. Just like birth control before it was mandated to be covered. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
