latest news I read .... The mall itself claims there were 10,000 people there that day so up to 500 of those people could have had a CCW permit. So to say that NO ONE in the mall was carrying at the time of the shooting would almost certainly be absurd.*** I cant speak for everyone but I have my CCW permit for my state but I am not Rambo, only time I go to the mall is when i have my son with me, I can flat guarantee my first reaction will be to see to his safety - most likely it will be to put walls and/or whatever distance between him and the gunman that I can manage no matter if I am armed or not - my sons not leaving my side and if I open fire and dont drop the assailant I will attract return fire and place him in even more jeapordy. Plus I stand the risk of being mistaken for the gunman and being killed by someone else defending themselves and or families from the threat. I have my priorities set, my son is more important than anyone else in that mall. I will return fire when there isnt any other option I carry only to protect myself and loved ones - I hope with all my being that a day like this one we are discussing never becomes my nightmare - I have thought it over quite a lot actually since the best place to go shoot people is places that dont allow guns - malls make me extremely nervous to be there, but I would rather be armed in conflict with the law and keep the options my weapon gives me. 2. maybe it is plainly a very stupid question? *** damned good question if ya ask me, you have some great answers from others, only thing I can think of to add is to take it to the air with another person on a similarly loaded canopy and use them as a point of reference to see what full flight, brakes, rear risers and front risers will do for you. not saying to attempt a dock or anything *(crw) just just flying in proximity I used to film those crazy CRW guys on my stiletto and found a use for each configuration - I learned a tremendous amount about each flight configuration in those first few jumps with them. 3. It doesnt break any 'code' your trusting your life to two parachutes each and every jump, the odds that both will malfunction on the same jump are very low however that risk is always present and there isnt anything you can do about it other than pack as carefully as possible and maintain good body postion through the deployment - the reserve is packed my an FAA certified rigger since it is your last shot. first chute is for fun, second is to save your life but both can fail. If the dz itself is doing something dodgy that would change my mind about jumping there, but someone going in due to something they did or just 'shit happens' wont change anything for me. what it should do for everyone is make them think about what they are doing, is it worth the risk - nobody is too good to die in this sport Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... 4. If you're not a criminal, you've got nothing to worry about. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Omigawd, I can't believe anyone still repeats that. [facepalm*** why yes, some people are just that clueless. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  5. You gotta be hearing stories about the other DZ, in eagle creek. I have not been to the Eagle Creek DZ personally, but when I lived in the Portland area a while back I heard nothing but bad news about that place. *** passing on info 2nd hand is always a bad idea, Ralph runs a tight ship - you break his rules your gone period - when he says no swooping he means it - and he wont be polite about it and say your grounded, its more like get the fuck off my property, I worked for him for 2 seasons filming tandems. I tested out a trade-in canopy at Ralphs *the fx 85 I have now and ended up buying it, I used it there for a year before moving to central washington, I went to SDO when I wasnt filming and wanted to swoop - at Eagle creek to make money. I had a SDO jumper ask me where I got the canopy then asked what I thought about not being able to jump it at Eagle creek - to which I replied that I jumped it there all the time since I followed the rules that Ralph set and hadnt had any problems. Roy Ps: to the OP - SDO is a great place to jump They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  6. wow...just wow, so the fact that I hate obama and his agenda makes me a closet racist? I'll let my foster brother know that, he makes obama look light skinned. if I hate/dislike or am disgusted by a person its because of who they are, not what they are. dont lump all of us into the racist catagory. 8. I would describe that as a "moron maneuver". *** some people would call merely jumping from an airplane that as well... just sayin Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

    But is it art?

If either of you have ever been to Houston there is a small chapel next to the Menil Art Museum called the Rothko Chapel. Ive visited many times in the past to view the 'art'. I know the guy committed suicide afterwards, but I dont know how anyone could consider large murals of nothing but black paint to be considered art. But then stranger things have happened. *** go out to the university of washington and see what passes for art on the campus.... most people would go ...wtf? my son could create better art with fingerpaints, superglue and sticks... but... different strokes ya know... I am an uncultured barbarian according to one friend who talked me into going to ballet once... my only entertainment was imagining the sexual positions I could get the hot ballerena into Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  10. watching tv with the kid, a pawnstars advert comes on and announces you can play pawnstars online, he wants to try it he says, I say go fire up the computer and log on. he goes in for a few min, comes back out and says it wont work... I ask what he typed in, he says PONstars.... I say no its pawnstars.com.... comes out a few min later... says they should put all the pretty women on the computer onto the tv show.... *at this point I am thinking WTF is he talking about? go into the computer room to find he typed in PORNSTARS.com and followed some links.... my 10 yr old kid just got quite an eyefull, when his mom hears about this I will get quite the asschewing.. and its taken 20 min to rid my computer of all detected spyware... Roy Ps: oops, this was gonna go into bonfire.... cant get anything right tonight... oh well, "I LOVE GUNS!!!!"
  11. Yet I still have two in daily use *** I still have my grandmothers... I should plug it in and tell my 10yr old to call his mom.... he'll be as lost as the day we went to take the 1965 ford out to drop off trash at the landfill and he couldnt find the window "button" Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  12. She fired through the closet door - what if it had been her mom? *** its doubtful that her mom woulda kicked the backdoor in... I applaud her in taking steps to save herself, although I cringe at someone shooting at a perp they cannot see - but I will not armchair quarterback her decision, she was in the hotseat she made the decision to save herself. we need more people that dont have the 'victim' mentality in this country - overall as a nation we used to have common sense, but somehow its dribbled away to where those poor misunderstood criminals should get a pass because they were abused as a child. - fuck that, give her a medal Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  13. 1200+ jumps on stiletto's ranging in size from 107 - 135's only one cutaway from a spinup and I am pretty sure it was my body postion that did it - I think I tensed up and tilted to the right as I tossed - for some reason exiting below 2k then taking a 5-8 second delay rattled me damned ground was close I tells ya! am upsizing this next year and going back to a spinetto - damned good canopy's and tons of fun. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  14. awesome! ty Picked up my kid today from school and he got to shoot his birthday present and I burned 3 clips through my new toy and am looking foreward to throwing more lead tomorrow
  15. ok, a while back I posted bout purchasing my first ever brand new pistol - glock model 23 .40 cal - have owned many pistols, but its my first NEW one I asked if buying new guns could be addictive... I believe the answer is a resounding yes... since that purchase I have wandered through many gun stores, poking and drooling like a kid in a candy store but have resisted the urge to get serious till lately - after all my glock is a fantastic weapon and I feel very comfortable carrying it or shooting from any postion - however its a tad bit bulky and being a skinny fucker its a bit difficult to conceal without a coat or a large overshirt left unbuttoned. today I broke down n got a new gun its a Taurus PT 740 slim and man when they say slim they mean slim, its easily concealed under just a t-shirt with a front carry - holds 6+1 - I know its not a whole lot of rounds but has virtually everything I was looking for, easy concealment, trigger safety - thumb safe and same calibre as the glock. my question is: can the point where the trigger breaks be adjusted by a gunsmith? the point on this weapon is very deep in the pull - I am sure I will get used to it in a few hundred rounds, but would prefer to tailor it to my preference if possible. Thanks! Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  16. Hey Pat what is the skydiver under the rainbow canopy on the far left of the pic for? our old dzo had that one and I never even thought to ask... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  17. I took my son and my sister to mt ranier at the end of july, took them on a expert ranked trail, I carried all the food and water, my son is 10 and competes in jr marathons so he was fine, however my sister who looks to be in good shape is actually not - she is incredibly stubborn though and I had to call breaks to let her recover - she wasnt gonna admit she couldnt do it but the staggering from side to side on the trail is a dead giveaway me and my sis really didnt get along when we were young, she was alot like a badger - if you upset her she attacked, she put our step brother in the ER with a can of creamed corn to give you an idea of what we had to deal with here... *shrug* so I am immature, this was PAYBACK!! so whacha do to upset him?
  18. I loved the part of "how many skydivers does it take to get Dave to the altar" ALL OF THEM!!! glad the safe word didnt get aired how wild did it get after me n Conner left? did Loren go firewalking again or anything? did Aaron n Dave engage in a tickle fight? *(the explanation of that left me in stitches) was a great ceremony and was awesome to see so many peeps I havent seen in a long time
  19. No shit, there I was laying on my back under the Jeep in the garage trying to loosen the 4 bolts that hold on the previous owner's homemade ass-tastic gas tank contraption. I got one of them loose. With three still firmly bolted to the frame... the 1/4" thick plate steel gas tank fell on me.*** LOL, think my old chevy 4x4 musta been owned by that guy.... did the same thing with a transfer case...pulled two bolts and the whole thing fell taking alot of the lower housing with it... only two bolts went to anything...the rest was jb weld....alot of jb weld.... I caught it with my forehead - I needed a nap anyhow Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

  22. I made a quick 911 call a few years ago travelling from kennewick to yakima, it was late at night and there was a guy sitting on the white line on the side of the road, I missed him by a foot or so, there were no cars and it was very dark plus I was overdriving my headlights a tad bit... wonder if they were related.... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  23. I hope I never do a naked tandem with Rosie ODonnel *** oh man, I just gagged thinking of that, talk about a fate worse than death... I did not need that mental image!!! Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  24. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/07/father-letter-disowning-gay-son_n_1752053.html so how would you feel or handle your child coming out of the closet? personally I would be disappointed if mine does, not because of his sexual orientation but because I would never get grandchildren - I'm kinda looking foreward to that. This is no reason to disown your child. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
