  1. I got a $19 bag from my local market. Fits 1 rig, 2 wingsuits and a tracking suit. Lasted me 6 years so far.
  2. Keep filming but don't share the footage with anyone except for investigating authorities or others with a personal connection who ask to see it. I once filming an accident that left the jumper in a coma for a few days. When he woke up he had no memory of the incident and was very keen to find out further details about it. I sent him the footage I had and it really helped with his recovery, while it didn't answer all his questions it allowed him to mentally move on. As I was inadvertantly filming with a helmet mounted camera it took me quite a while to remember I was still recording after the incident.
  3. That's interesting - I actually improved the openings on my Sabre2 by pulling the slider out at the back as much as I could.
  4. I read a theory on here quite a while ago, where it was suggested that hard openings can be caused by the risers lifting asymmetrically out of the container - this could cause the slider to come down at an angle rather than flat, meaning it has heaps less air resistance and zips down very quickly. Something else I have noticed on other videos of hard openings is that the tail seems to spread out very quickly, it's like the end cells are inflating before the centre ones. I believe the biggest contribution to downward force on the slider comes from the brake lines - and if something about the pack job is leading to the tail expanding spanwise very suddenly then I think that force would cause the slider to come down super quick.
  5. But is the deployment of a semi-stowless bag actually 'line dump'? My understand of line dump is that it's when the canopy starts inflating BEFORE line stretch - this can't happen when the canopy is in a bag closed with line stows.
  6. I don't know him but he appears to have posted in this thread a few days ago: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4737004;#4737004
  7. ... MonoTrack MonoTrack MonoTrack MonoTrack ...
  8. What could be perfect for you is the Cookie flat top plate, but unfortunately they no longer manufacture them. Cheap solution might be taping some big blocks of polystyrene foam in key places. Expensive solution is to get a nice big flat top camera helmet.
  9. Everyone I know who has a Storm raves about it being the best canopy for WS. I jump a Sabre2 and am happy with it.
  10. The first Bird Man suit for sure (if only by default). Regarding flight attire more generally, the original Phoenix Fly tracking suit would have to be up there.
  11. I got one for V353 and am very happy with it. Done about 350 jumps on it.
  12. "non-WS jumps" - what does this mean? You mean tracking suit? ;-)
  13. I jump a Sabre2 and am happy with that. By all accounts the Storm is a great canopy. I would not go for the 'latest thing' unless I had a good reason. Get a nice cheap second hand canopy and spend the rest of your money jumping. :)
  14. Exactly. [cough cough] What happened here a while back is that during the period where some new super-large 'mattress' suits were being released someone would occasionally claim that they made one 'fly up' and that this was proof of the awesomeness of the suit. What would happen then is someone would suggest that they had been diving before this 'fly up' event and that this was in fact not so surprising, and maybe they would ask to see the GPS data. This comment would have several possible outcomes but normally resulted in descending into brand wars with one or another person insisting that a particular model suit could 'fly up' and others saying it couldn't unless you were diving it to start with. This has now led to further claims of video proof of wingsuits flying up, something which was never really in question in the first place. Basically the Flying Up Wars can be seen in the context of the broader period of the great DZ.com Glide Ratio Conflict. In one instance I think one guy made a wingsuit at home and posted on here saying it did 5.1 or something like that (no video or GPS data or anything).
  15. If you are intending to take a lot of docks you might be best with a Shadow as it has no grippers.
  16. This is going to blow your mind but I just found a video of a canopy going up. Check here between 1.10 and 1.25 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHtnfJ8CWlg Mate this canopy technology is just getting better and better.
  17. Also the Safire 1 sizes are 13% smaller than Safire 2s.
  18. So - this laser... is there an option to upgrade it to a more powerful one?
  19. Skydive Oz is a great dropzone and you'll get awesome instruction there. Make sure you let them know you can't swim well - but all students jump with a floatation device in case they land in the water (the dropzone is massive but shit can happen). Skydive Oz is about 4-5 hours drive south of Sydney.
