  1. All sounds about right to me. Welcome back.
  2. Nice article, a shame though about the unnecessary snide commentary on other jumpers.
  3. This looks like a nice camera. I don't take many pics but I might grab one of these just to have hanging around just in case. I'm assuming it has an auto-exposure button. Will it work with the 18-55 kit lens from my 600D? It would be good to not have to get a new lens.
  4. Hi! You have gone to the right place for sure - Moruya is an awesome DZ with awesome people. There's a lot of interesting reading on these forums but make sure to run any questions past your instructors. I mainly jump at Picton but am well overdue for a trip to Moruya. Keep jumping and I'm sure we'll run into each other. Have fun. :)
  5. I hate to break the news to you buddy, but that can't possibly be the case. Maybe his real name is 'virgin-mum'.
  6. Shitty music. Whoever edited that should be banned from their computer.
  7. Is it possible for speech mode to have an Arnold voice update? Some random guttural noises would be good too. "2.1... 2.1.. NYARRRRGGH ... 2.2... "
  8. What's the difference between the problem PC and the rest of them? Different OS? Different graphics processing? There must be something there that would indicate where the problem is - I don't reckon it's with the file you're using.
  9. Awesome video - as always. :)
  10. Really - what was wrong with it? Just curious to hear - I never jumped one but I always heard it was a good suit.
  11. That's funny. No dicking around, cut straight to it.
  12. If it's done properly it's no more dangerous than a normal skydive.
  13. I will need about a year in the gym to access the full abilities of that one.
  14. Are you able to recommend a suit for impressing tandem passengers while waiting for the plane? I have found that the Vampire Race is very effective at this, but I have a specifically female target in mind.
  15. We still have a bunch of these Javelin Student rigs in service at my DZ in Australia.
  16. Get a Nebula! Thanks for reminding me of that terror at pull time called the webbie... I would really like to have been jumping back then when every new design looked batshit crazy. "OMG - it's HUGE! You could be up there for 3 MINUTES!"
  17. This is where Squirrel have completely changed the game. A product information page that is up as soon as a suit is available for purchase with detailed photos, a full list of features and a description of flight characteristics, intended purpose, strengths and weaknesses that is unprecedented. An up-to-date website being a 'game-changer' and 'unprecedented'? I do agree that Squirrel has a nice website but that's not quite a revolution. There is some nice info here on the Ridge: http://sflyequipment.com/products-showroom/ridge/
  18. I believe this is the new Ghost, while I'm sure it's going to be a great suit it's probably not going to be a huge amount more performance over the Havok the OP is already using. True. Still the OP might want that progression and as for PF they don't have other suits in that class atm The Hunter is up on PF's website now. It looks like I was wrong - it looks to have quite a bit more performance than the Havok. http://phoenix-fly.com/portfolio/hunter/
  19. Only you can say for sure - depending on what the situation is - whether it's worth trying to fight longer. How fast is the spin? How does it compare to previous sets of line twists on this same canopy? How high are you? How tired are you? Are you confident that the situation is improving? There's certainly a good case for cutting away early. Biggest reason I can see for that would be to have as much time as possible to fix line twists on the reserve.
  20. My first gear was a 190 loaded at 1.15. I'm still jumping it now after 600 jumps and have lost weight, now my WL has actually decreased to around 1.0 and I'm still happy with it. I would only get the 170 rig if it can take a 190 as well. Problem is that if you get gear that you're not ready to jump... you don't know when you'll be ready to jump it. What if life intervenes and you take a break? You break an ankle? (easy in this sport) ... You'll be stuck with a rig that you're not ready to jump and having to continue on rental gear... I'd wait for a 190. There is time enough to break an ankle later in life. Err on the side of bigger and slower.
