I keep my hands near my risers, but I don't grab them. That way I don't need to worry about my hands getting caught, but I'm still ready to make a quick turn to avoid a possible canopy collision. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

You could also make them thank you cards. "Thanks for dragging my drunk ass to my tent." "Thanks for showing me your ass." "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Skydiving and families (part 2)
mrubin replied to dontlikemustard's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My mom was not very happy when I started skydiving. To help her feel better, I would always call her after a day of jumping to let her know that I was okay. But what really helped was when she came to the dropzone to watch me jump. She saw how careful everyone was with gear checks and planning the dives. She also saw how happy it made me and how comfortable I was at the dz. All of that and me standing up a couple landings in front of her really helped. Thanks for the suggestions. We ended up going to Jack Stack and really enjoyed it. Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I prefer an analog altimeter. I like having an altimeter that doesn't rely on batteries. As far as the logbook function goes, most dz's that I've been to will not accept digital logbooks and require a signed paper one. Talk to your instructors and determine what gear is best for you. I'm going to be passing through Kansas City this weekend and am hoping to find some good BBQ. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Here's what you do - get a list of all the events each DZ has planned, and pick the ones you want to attend. That takes care of some of your weekends. Oh no! Dave, the problem is worse than you know.... I have summers off. That's right, I take my retirement on the installment plan, 12 weeks every summer. June thru August, I'll have to plan for 7 days a week? How will I survive? I'll just have to take my old ZX11 (see aviator) and ride from DZ to DZ. Life is good! @ Cocheese.... I like your thinking! 7 days and 7 dzs. Go to a different dz each day and then change the rotation every week. You'll only need it for the ride up. Have fun on your jump! "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Paso Robles has some great wine and is south of Monterey. San Luis Obispo is a great town and very bike friendly. Pismo Beach and Morro Bay would also offer some great places to explore. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

1996 Ford Mustang. My parents made it clear early on that if I wanted a car when I turned 16 that I'd have to buy it myself. I started saving when I was 12 and had enough to buy by the time I was 16. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I read the first book and really enjoyed. I started the second book yesterday and have almost finished it. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Sounds like a fun trip, but it will probably take you more than 2 1/2 weeks. Give yourself as much time as you can. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Obviously, you haven't heard of fluffing... You've got a 20 minute ride up to do that Longer than that at some Cessna dzs. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I like your new avatar. It's great to see you smiling about skydiving instead of being scared. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Everyone makes mistakes. The important thing is that you learned from it. The real dummy is the skydiver who makes a mistake, has it explained to him/her, and does nothing to learn from it. It's great to see that an unstable exit isn't as scary to you any more and that you're making multiple jumps in a day. Keep learning and keep having fun.
