    Moving to Tulsa

I just got a job that's taking me to Tulsa in a few weeks. Is there anyone on here who can recommend some fun things to do in the area? Good restaurants, bars, etc. Thanks. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  3. I did about 20 RW jumps before I got a suit with booties. This was mainly because I was saving up to buy a suit and wanted to make sure that RW is what I wanted to do. I think learning without booties is important, but you don't need to do a ton of jumps to understand the basics. Once someone has some basic RW skills and is sure that he/she wants to continue with RW, I don't see any reason not to get a suit with booties. 4. I'd say that the guy on the deck is pretty damn lucky. That tail rotor came really close to hitting him. Probably needed to change his underwear after that one. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  5. You can get a jump suit that will help slow you down. And you should get some tunnel time and work on controlling fall rate. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

    I Need a Job

I'm graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in December and am looking for a job after I graduate. I think it might be fun to combine my passions and find an engineering job in the skydiving industry. Does anyone have any recommendations for companies that are good to work for? If you have a similar job, do you enjoy it and are you hiring? Thanks. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  7. Skydive Santa Barbara is about 1.5 hours from Ventura. It's a smaller dz, but the people are great. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  8. I use a belt because I feel that it would be easier to remove quickly if I needed to. I do mainly RW so I don't know how a belt/vest would affect freeflying. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  9. It meant less gear fear for me. After it happened I KNEW I could handle it without any question. As for thinking about having "no more parachutes after this", didnt even cross my mind. I was thinking "holy shit this thing is going to kill me or worse cripple me and it has to go". +1 "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  10. It's relaxing. No matter what you have going on in your life, none of it matters when you are skydiving. You need to focus on what you are doing, you don't have time to worry about life's little problems. Also, the skydiving community is great, even if we are a little out there sometimes. And most importantly, its a lot of fun. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

  12. I strained my rotator cuffs on a hard opening. After a couple weeks without any improvement in the pain I went to a doctor. They set me up with some physical therapy that helped a lot. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

    Road Trip!

I'll probably leave late June and spend 6-8 weeks on the road. I'm not on a super tight budget, but would like to keep the costs down. I want to camp for part of it, but when available I'll stay in hostels or at friends. I'm traveling alone in my '96 Mustang. I want to get some jumps in along the way. I have fun partying in the city or hiking in the wilderness. I definately want to get to Boston and check out Fenway. I've been to Wrigley and thought that its a great stadium. Road Trip!

I'm graduating from college in December and want to have some fun during my last summer break. So I've decided to road trip across the country. I'm starting in the Los Angeles area and heading east through the southern part of the country. Then I'm going north along the east coast and back west through the northern states. I plan on seeing Mt. Rushmore, Niagara Falls, MLB Hall of Fame, and Yellowstone (just to name a few). Are there any places that you think I should go? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 16. I did my AFF and first few solo jumps at Perris. Then I moved away to school and continued my jumping at Skydive Santa Barbara. SDSB had me do a quick refresher course and then a coach jump. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  17. If you want outdoor adventures, go to Interlaken, Switzerland. I was there last summer and did a few skydives (the view is incredible), white water rafting, canyoning, and canyon swing. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

  20. a man sits in a 21kg wheelchair the chair accelerates at .4m/s down the ramp if the net force on the wheelchair is 40n what is that man in the wheelchairs mass F = ma m = F/a F = 40N a = .4 m/s^2 m = mass of the wheelchair + mass of the man Hope this helps "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  21. I'm definately going to be in the UK and Spain. Other than that I don't have any specific plans. I'm going to just see where my adventures take me. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  22. I'm going to be spending some time this summer travelling around Europe and want to make a few skydives. Any suggestions on dropzones to jump at? Or dropzones to avoid? Thanks. "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

    Skydive Perris

Perris is a great place to jump. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help new jumpers learn. The load organizers are amazing. Nice, big landing area (even if it is a bit dusty). The view isn't great, but if you're jumping with a team it doesn't matter. The biggest problem is that the winds can be very unpredictable, changing directions very suddenly. All in all, a teriffic drop zone.
  24. I am looking to buy an audible altimeter but am not sure which one to get. Are there any that are better than the others? "I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
