  1. Regular RSLs can and do work or just as fast as the Skyhook does, on some rigs. The Skyhook ia a bandaid for an inadiquet Reserve system. Compare the videos. You might find that a hard sell to the base community. Also a benifit of a functioning skyhook is avoiding a pc hesitation due to burbble. Funny how the hand deploy was developed to counter all the problems with a spring, and yet we still use it as our last line of defence
  2. I once used a beeswax brick as an air freshener in my truck.....come to think about it, thats all i've used it for
  3. Here's a hypothetical. Swooper hooks it low and ends up in the pond, ass over tea kettle. The entire rig has now been exposed to lawn fertilizer, pesticides/ insecticides, water sterilizer, alge, human and pet urine, fecies (running down said swoopers leg), mud and dirt, and is as soaked as Moby's dick. Do we throw it all out? Probably not. More likely it gets a good drying and a once over and packed again. Why? well one reason is that swoopers are a rowdy bunch. And will probably burn you at the stake (along with all the molar bags you condemned). Or, the gear is still useable. Being picky and selective about your clients gear is a good thing. Throwing out useable gear is not, for sure if the manufacturer has no objection to it.
  4. Could you please explain how you have come to the "out door time frame" to determine something to be airworthy?
  5. Yep what Ian said. Access the version through the start up menu at info. Remember these are only the vigil 1s and are somewhere around the 2005 year. Now don't quote me on this, but IIRC there were some issues with the units having a bit of a hair trigger in em. That said ive know of 6 of them that work just fine ....so far..... Talk to Vigil if you have one, I believe you can upgrade to a vigil2 for a small fee. Now about those argus's
  6. Installed Manta 288 slider for my buddies 150 sabre. the only thing he bitched about was the slider flapping under canopy so I sewed a patch of velcro on to pinch it shut. Problem solved.
  7. So I tried fixing those "stern" openings on a sabre 1 I had. Got me an old shitty slider I had laying around , cut it up, and started sewing up a pocket onto the slider. Not knowing what I was doing, I fashoned mine a bit after a tandem slider I had seen. Now a Sabre opens firm, but mine opened hard enough to look after and see if I still had socks and shoes on. So my theory must be sound.. BIGGER is better.... Not only did my pockets rival that of a tandem slider, I had cleverly sewn them "open" to assure they grabbed more air than a hood scoop on a funny car. I installed my creation, flaked it, quartered the slider, and pulled the pocket over the nose of the canopy. (yes i said over the nose) Fast forward to a 3 way gone to shit , and there I am tracking away....low... and for some reason as I pitched I cringed, anticipating the slam. That never came. As a matter of fact the shape and surface area of the material above my head equated to something i can best describe as Marry Poppins umbrella. NO SHIT THERE I WAS..... burning through 1500 with a ball of not fucking funny at the end of my lines. Cut it. Yank the reserve. And be damned if the reserve didn't open.....softly
  8. "no!"? but that's up to you, this week and a couple previous ones were quite sickening, they've had a terrible outcome, and i cant be arsed no more wasting my time on crap like this.. it get's tiring AND old.. hey, did sangi pound in ?
  9. There is none John, just let us know when you start x bracing them !
  10. Good post, man. Supportive, correct and good advice. Nice going.
  11. + 1 somethings fishy. I also would assume the cable would be dead till the unit sent the signal through it. I know nothing about how the unit self tests, but the only way I can see it fire is if the unit was turned on and it checked for a circut an POP! That, or theres a constant live that runs through it and it touched the dead side? anyone?
  12. lousy place for answers?? wtf? to the OP the obvious answer is the .3 version was produced sometime around 06 and the .4 was sometime after your welcome!
  13. w 8 fits a 120-135 reserve, 150 tempo tight. and up to a 135 main. I've had good luck going down on canopy sizes with wings but not much going up (mains) . As mentioned before a 170 would be fiddle string tight.
  14. anyone know what the outcome was of the 600,000+ buck fine?
  15. no you should only do a 180 to avoid the blind spot. sheesh!!
  16. another tandem master and I were on a load together with female students. He and his pax were discussing how they would get attached in the plane (small cessna). Asking her tandem master "ok, so I get on my knees and then what?" To which my pax leaned over and responded "open your mouth !"
