  1. In defense of loose chest straps: Huh? We're not talking about dangling loose. Or are you? Huh? We're not talking about fiddle string tight are you ?
  2. Theres nothing wrong with having a snug chest strap. keeping the chest strap loose to "arch" is nothing but a shitty old myth. Even without an articulating harneses a jumper can arch in it. The chest strap helps keep the webbing over your shoulders....well, over your shoulders. it also helps keep your handles where you remember them
  3. No it's not just you. Your rant is right on the money. Just look at how this thread progressed... The guy went low (so fn what, who hasn't). Then they blew through a cloud (not smart at all ). Then his buddy creams him. ( ). He make a decision to keep his canopy ( ) and lands it ( ). Now I could see a discusion on clouds, exits, seperation, canopy strikes, what canopy to keep/cut, flight control etc. but NO.....we blame it on a gopro and then run with it, to the point that the guy hasn't got the basics of jumpin? WTF? I am quite sure he pulled stable with good altitude. This place has turned into a bunch of red assed baboons flinging shit at each other. Curb stomping the shit out of posters by people "who never" or "I always" seem to be the norm. Lets get it back to relevant conversation. now if ya'll will excuse me i'm taking off my flame retardant underwear and putting on my rain suit..... cover your eyes
  4. +1 funny how in 5 or 6 posts it goes to a camera witch hunt, and by the end, the guy hasn't got the basic skills to skydive.
  5. I agree, looks to me like it is working "as advertised". I see no need for the OP to grind an ax over it. Matt How is it 'supposed' to work? I thought the main & free-bag were to stay together during & all the way through reserve deployment? It should if it worked. Maybe mr Sherman isn't off his rocker in claiming pc vs sky hook deployment times are nill / insignificant. Placebo effect?
  6. FWIW. Ive never had a problem packing a Mirage and making it look good. Covering everything with a flap sure helps ! Wings and Javs on the other hand can be an absolute BITCH trying to get the ears to lay in nicely with the cap and not have a wrinkle. I find newer exposed cap rigs usually come back for a loop adjustment about once a cycle (depending on use) for a loop adjustment. now back to your regularly scheduled program
  7. Probably, but lets consider that a 200 ft canopy can turn into a 100 sq ft in the event of a mal, like a lineover choking out one side. I dread to think what kinda shit show a person would be looking at under a highly loaded wing hanging from a riser
  8. I send about a dozen or so each year from various manufacturers. Try Vigil 2
  9. Not pointed at you, but while were on the subject of "not intended use" wasn't one of the aads (cypres1?) using pressure sensors or something in thier units that were marked not for life saving devices?
  10. I got a few minutes if either of you would like to tell a story.
  11. Quotei need to slow down in free fall. me and my son have about 15 jumps each. we tried to do a 3 way with our coach i fell to fast. my coach said i needed to get a jump suit to slow me down. my weight is 205 and my son weight 145. Thanks[/rep Thats awesome, that your willing to pass on with your son ! most dads wouldn't . P.S. get a new instructor
  12. Mabe you guessed wrong?........
  13. I aint sayin it. If dudes got the money who gives a shit if he buys new? Who cares how long he jumps it ? Used gear has to come from somewhere, and it sure isn't the factory! Now the real question........What colors ya gettin?
  14. "HEY wifey" "Hey what"? "JR and Pops are fighting over arching during a reserve"! "Jeasus Christ, if your not on that damn dz.com, your listening to that fn skydive radio" "well whatdya think?" "bout what?" "About arching before you pull handles or after." "Who fn cares?" GENTLEMEN I AM INCLINED TO AGREE WITH HER
  15. Its still bullshit some dz's are banning them. Hope no one bounces cuz they pulled their Argus to jump there.
  16. it is possible to tack the slinks too far from the end of the riser, That can add some wear and tear to your risers (and slink) if your using supertack. The breaking strenght can be upwards of 160 lbs depending on how you tack. So it is possible you could be hanging from a chunk of supertack and a partial piece of slink inside the riser if you screw it up real bad I think JR may have been refering to a total slink install
  17. It begs the question "what can we do"? Or better yet how can we get some sort of coverage. I'm from the CSPA side of things ( not that it matters) and find it a little nerve racking that some fucking asshat can drag me into court because "i didn't know it could be dangerous" It's almost come to the point where surviving the jump wasn't the scary thing, surviving the lawsuit is. Is there seriously no sports insurance out there? I mean if J Lo can insure her ass, why cant I cover mine?
