me too. I wont be doing anything unless I am certain I am doing the right thing. I finished washing the rig yesterday and it is looking pretty good now. It would be nice with some extra protection but I am not going to sacrifice peace of mind over it. Ummm..... if you just washed it there should be no reserve in it. right? and once again two light coats are better than soaking it
  3. Welll hell, that won't work. They are all bent. Sparky Actually they are re conditioned submarine screws! damn aviation cutbacks
  4. yep but it's still no secret there are millitary discounts. You are also required to show proof of service. Military service= dicount. They wouldn't do it if they didn't want you to have it
  5. JUST FYI: Most of those manufacturers don't advertise the discount amounts, and don't want them advertised. If you're military, call them, they don't want everyone and their mother knowing what kind of discount they give us. why not? it's no big secret. and its a great incentive to serve your country

meh.. if you can put it on a sweater it should be fine. and if you've tested it for color fastness, great! be carefull not to use it on plastics. and as it says on the can 2 light coats are better than 1 ! 6-12 hrs between coats
  7. I'm talking raw line not line sets. Who manufactures vectran, hama etc and do you order from them or stick to middle man services such as ParaGear?
  8. how bout one of these?http://www.apcoaviation.com/support/manuals/guided_mayday_manual.pdf
  9. a dozen or so solos outa this and 3 two ways
  10. Hi William, will this portuguese event push Aviacom to change the date of application to be "immediate change" ? Also would you say you now agree with the Polish authorities findings? Thats twice now someone has gotten a picture of a loop that was not cleanly cut regaurdless of how it activated. I would think "immediate change" would be the right/ safest thing to do.
  11. I was in no way talking to you bud, please don't swear at me for no reason He wasn't
  12. The second DZ I mentioned used (basically) matching student gear, had several students on the same load and the radio instructor had to (upon landing) look up and figure out which student was which... JW Not only that but what happens if the instructor bounces? who lands the student then?
  13. Just be happy you don't have to jump it! Easy now you bastards! thats my mom
  14. I'll take "twisted or cracked rib" for five bucks
  15. and some students need to be reassured they are "doing great" It helps to instill confidence and trust in themselvs. It also helps them to relax, to know that they are on a path to success. especially the first jump. I'll agree verbal diahreah doesn't do much good, but theres nothing wrong with reassuring your student .
  16. I've seen worse, mind you those appear to be made out of cotton candy and beer caps Everyone knows one should use dental floss and a nickle
  17. I'm not an instructor, but that seems like a waste of precious altitude for anyone not just a student. The chance of preventing something by doing that doesn't seem to outweigh the lost altitude. Un hooking an rsl becomes moot once you pull silver. If the flailing man bag hasnt pulled it and shot the reserve during the mal, pulling silver will disarm it (not that you need it at this point). I also don't think i'd spend till my hard deck waiting to do EP's. if i cant fix it i'm pullin both handles and dealin with what comes next using whats left of my altitude to get a good reserve over my head. It's a nasty mal....nasty.
  18. I had a friend go down to Michael's the store they have whats called jewlers wire. it comes in diffrent sizes. Works great !
  19. To me, this is the same as the argument between a D-ring and a soft reserve handle. Much like the D-ring, the dive loop gives you something to 'hang' onto, as opposed to just your hand strength holding the block. If you got your hand stuck in a dive loop, it's because you're doing to wrong. It's two fingers in the loop, two fingers holding the toggle in your hand, and your thumb out of the way. The toggle goes over the palm portion of your hand, and the loop goes only over your two fingers so the two components stay seperate. If you're the sort to put on bulky gloves and shove your entire hand into a dive loop, then maybe a block is better for you, but only because you're mis-using the loops. Actually your not holding the dive block, your holding the riser and pulling down on the block. And I perfer to have my toggle over my whole hand (so I dont loose it). And no I'm not the "sort" to shove my whole hand in the whole loop, your fingers quite simpily don't slide out as easy with gloves especially with a tack or rubber glove. Mis-using the loops.....your funny
  20. slips easier? your holding on with 4 fingers and a thumb. I think it boils down to prefrence. Theres nothing wrong with blocks. I quit using my dive loops when I got my fingers stuck in em coming out of a dive. It's happened more than once, and sure as shit I ain't the only one it's happened to. They really suck ass when you have thicker gloves on. I like being able to let go when I want. Now blocks may not be everyones cup of tea but they work good for some people
