  1. I understand that Lodi has the cheapest hop n pops at $5 each which is great but turns are limited to 90's. Are there any other cheap places for hop and pops without the turn restrictions?
  2. Hi Dave, I'm currently looking at various options for for my risers I've not ruled out dive loops just trying different things. Another option i'm looking at is bigger dive loops of the springy out variety. The loops on my current risers are small and uncomfortable to use so I tend to wrap my hand around the loop and the riser together with my thumb right at the top on the slinks. I'm finding that this give me more solid input than 3 crushed fingers in the dive loop. My current risers are also way too short though. I'm 6'3 and the risers are 17 1/2" so it could be that longer risers with better loops could be the answer. I'm no swooper yet just taking my first baby steps and trying to get my gear right for the job.
  3. Thanks for the info on UPT I will check it out. I've done the pros/cons loops vs blocks elsewhere, just after the technical info. Thanks for the heads up though.
  4. I'm looking to get blocks added to my new risers for swooping. My rigger is not familiar with riser blocks for swooping, only for crew. Is anybody able to point me in the right direction with any photo's, link's or details.
  5. It varies but normally about £14/$27/€20 at Headcorn in the UK.
  6. I spotted this beauty on a recent trip to scotland: Ben Lomond Very limited Landing areas though.
  7. There are a couple on the north downs and I've spied a few potentials on the South downs but like Rich says access will be a problem. Does anyone have any experience ground launching in Scotland? is it possible for instance to get the Cable car up the Nevis range and make your own way back down? Blues
  8. Had my first few attempts this past week - Excellent Fun!! The hills around kent are a bit small though. Just out of interest what type of Canopy do you use for GL?
  9. Has anybody in the UK tried groundlaunching? Any good UK sites?
  10. I'm going to be on vacation in Florida from the 17th of March and have always wanted to do a beach jump. Anybody know of any Florida DZ's that regularly do them?
  11. Maybe its time for the AAD manufacturers to create a swoop specific AAD or mode. I don't have many jumps so don't know exactly what the variables should be but if they re-wrote the code so that if the jumper has been below freefall speeds for 10 seconds then disable the AAD. The jumper could then ensure a safe deployment, refrain from any radical turns for 10 seconds to disable AAD (while collapsing slider etc). Then safely accelerate up past 78 mph during the swoop. Maybe an audible bleep to acknowledge that the AAD has been disabled. I'm sure the above has flaws but its just an idea.
