  1. they call it chemical valley around where i live...around charleston wv there are several chemical plants, and at least one research lab at bayer in institute. i don't work there, but you could google the hr dept and get a resume to them. there is a dz at huntington and one in ashland, if you lived around teays valley that would be 30 min and 45-55 min drive there with a 20-30 min commute to work. we jump year round, but it gets(usually, not this year) colder around oct to mar, but not too bad. http://kitswv.com
  2. it's not just the media, if you have any doubts at all about this, look at this forum. fucking pathetic. let's all just move on to problems that can be fixed...homeless people in this country, renewable energy, etc. for example, i have an idea that can make a car run on water, but no funding to pull it off full scale. i made a mock up of it on a sheet of plywood, the solution is viable and should apply to other power generation areas as well, but when i applied for a govt grant, never heard a thing back. if i could afford to patent the idea, i would apply for public funding, if it hasn't been stolen by the govt yet... http://kitswv.com
  3. collateral damage my ass. we need to stop debating this bs. let the records show that there is no problem here, beyond the media hype. if it were not for the media fixating on these tragedies for weeks on end, the problem would be less severe. grab a few guns and kill some people and you're immortalized. they should have no coverage of any names of the killers, and no sensationalizing the events. we need to get on to real problems, like drunk drivers killing people. check the damn stats, kids are safer now than they ever have been in history. move on to real problems like meth and pills and ________(insert real problem here). http://kitswv.com
  4. if i can chime in here, you should always uninstall first from the control panel(i used the example above appwiz.cpl, it's easier than navigating with the touchpad of a laptop, and when you're a tech and the end user sees you typing things in and running things, it inspires more confidence in your skills, in reality, it just saves me time) or i would definitely recommend using iobit uninstaller(free download last time i checked) and using the forced uninstall option to remove all the things the windows installer leaves behind(not all the time, but enough that it can make a difference over time). then go look for the remnants. http://kitswv.com
  5. personally, i would not allow java on my system at all, ever. my son plays minecraft, in a virtual machine, running on his linux system(he's 9). most people have old versions of java anyway, to check, hold the windows key down and hit the letter r, when the run box comes up, type appwiz.cpl and hit enter. scroll down to see how many javas you have and if you're using the latest one(7.9). the thing about java is that when you update it, it installs the new one without removing the others. I have seen as many as 12 installed versions. not sure if this slows things down, but they take up space. you really want to disable scripting in your web browser, search the internet to tell you how. there was a recent concern with php scripts and security last week i think. then think about getting rid of adobe reader, the 2d biggest security risk around. there are many free versions of pdf reader that work without the risks. http://kitswv.com
  6. i noticed that you received one reply which actually gave you info. here's mine: i had one for a month and didn't get any discount. i drive safely so i was a little pissed, then my girlfriend got a 7% discount. i was really pissed since she drives like a racecar driver and makes me nervous. then she told me that mine wasn't communicating, they sent a new one. i would recommend it, the worst thing that happens is you get no discount, my company goes up to 30%. even paying $40 a month is a $12 discount, well worth it to me. http://kitswv.com
  7. not only does this not count as a repost, since it is just an announcement it is done, but they had the timeline just about right. said to be fielded in 2013. they were close http://kitswv.com
  8. you don't have to worry about me, if anything gets too messed up, i'll just quietly remove myself from the situation. enough guns, ammo, and property in the woods to sustain myself and family. if i were a younger man, however, ... http://kitswv.com
  9. actually, it makes perfect sense. the only use would be long range exploration or emergency evacuation of the planet. all you have to do to increase the velocity is add more engines. and compared to what we have right now (think dropping nuclear bombs from the back of the ship) it is the only feasible answer. http://kitswv.com
  10. i had a friend who proposed a real life idea that could work. require gun manufacturers to install a device on all guns that would only allow the owner to operate it. it could be done, and could allow for members of a family or several authorized persons to be programmed into it. the only thing i found wrong with this is the fact that if it were installed, it could be removed. but at least it's an idea. i hear nobody talking about the real tragedy here: preventing the situation from occurring. everyone is talking reaction into the ground, noone is saying anything proactive. and another thing missed here: it don't matter if anyone on any forum on the internet comes up with a perfectly good solution that would pay for itself and guarantee success, fucking pathetic elected representatives would not hear of it and would rather pursue their own agenda than adopt it. http://kitswv.com
  11. crying wolf my ass. this is just one more example of waste, fraud, and abuse. and did ya hear about the vote to extend fisa without the few minor adjustments to be made in a faux oversight? they had the details for well over a month, but had to rush it through before the law expired because they didn't want to debate it. don't have a link, but not too hard to find. pathetic. when are the elected representatives going to realize they need to answer to us? this is the kind of representation that caused the first revolution, it's high time for another. http://kitswv.com
  12. i recently (last week) added an address to my spam filter, and have been inundated with emails from this address ever since. i tried to use the advanced filter options, but when i clicked on the link, it does nothing. when i opened my email this morning, i had 70 of them and i really want these emails to go away, can someone help me? http://kitswv.com
  13. if you're looking for a lame excuse for doing nothing, look no further than the dual party system in place in this country. i read an article in a magazine once, not too long ago, where 5 former elected official came together and created a balanced budget in 3 days. they didn't touch medicare, social security, or institute tax increases. the only way they did it (they admitted) was that they didn't have to worry about party lines or re-election. until we can truly put politics aside on the issues that affect all of us, there can be no solution. i see no problems with creating a psychology test, available online, to help weed out unstable people trying to buy guns. if for any reason the test would disqualify an individual, a clean bill of health from a licensed professional could be presented. may need a little work, but it's a start. http://kitswv.com
  14. wow, what a concept! you may have something there. repressing certain things has been known to cause all sorts of problems. i wonder if anyone has any stats on the correlations. i once researched and wrote a paper on how the implementation of technology led to the degradation of the spirit of americans. if i had time, i would love to tackle this new angle. on the surface, it would appear to be an idea of correlation, but it could be closer to a causation. http://kitswv.com
  15. it's also easy to forget that without the russians, we would never have even come close to winning. talk about a whole nation of heroes. http://kitswv.com
  16. i'm thinking after reading the article, that it's gonna be ok. it says that gun violence was down to pre 1960 levels. sounds great to me and that is 8 years after the brady bill expired. i hate that anything happened, i have a 4th grader, scared to death sometimes. taken in context, it's not that bad. taking all the schools and all the days of non-incidents, we have a pretty good record. not perfect, still needs work, but not too bad. http://kitswv.com

    Sore loser???

i will have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. i believe the point here is that she was having a good time and the bf is a total dick about it. i have a poker game with friends sometimes and have a friend like that, thinks he's the shit. plays odds and bets "properly". in a hold 'em tourney, he's not too bad. when we play dealer's choice, i win just about every time. point is, it's all about fun, not winning. for everyone, $10 (at our game) buys about 5 hours of hanging out with friends, drinking, playing cards. cheap entertainment and good company. the only time i fold pre-flop is if someone goes all in. ever. http://kitswv.com
  18. i am all about personal freedoms and not restricting any of them. i agree with you in this case however. if you want to drive a car, you get a license, pass a test for it. there are situations where you can lose the right to own a gun. what would be the harm in having to go to a range every 5 years to get a recertification? i would gladly support that, even pay $25 for it. and a thorough mental health questionairre would be a good idea as well, just as a prescreen. if you fail, you need to get checked off by a live doctor. not perfect, but a start http://kitswv.com
  19. sounds like you are regurgitating a comment heard from some talking head, not the horse's mouth. did you listen to the speech? i did, and the solution proposed was an immediate one. you should have an idea how long it takes for anything to get done, good or bad. wayne said what are we doing now? he proposed the idea as an immediate answer, at least that's what i heard, but i didn't wait to have someone to tell me what he said like they do in all the debates. i work in a wv school system and in my county, we have badged access to all doors in all schools. when a parent or anyone else needs in, they push a button and the door opens. nobody walks out, but there are cameras. and one of my schools has the front door propped open, the keypad is broken and has been for 2 months. our high schools have a resource officer, armed, and all the kids seem to like the one at my high school. i think there should be one in every school, who gives a rat's ass if it seems like a prison. it's not like they really teach them anything today except how to take a test. http://kitswv.com
  20. like i said in my post, i want the raw data, not the sources. it took me 2 hours sifting through the sources to find some data, and it wasn't given in any standard form, and had different types of data included. these statistics are compiled by people who sit around all day getting paid to do this, i do not. i just wanted to get the raw data used and download it so that i could sift through it in my spare time. and the link you sent me does nothing at all except point to a website where the data is compiled from different sources. i clicked on the link for crime statistics and it showed a table with info from the fbi, the same info i saw on the fbi site. i wanted to see if there were any sources with the stats broken down, so that i could see if guns were any more or less involved in crime, before during, and after the brady bill. it doesn't exist. therefore, whenever someone spouts off statistical support of any position on this matter, you can call bullshit with confidence that the numbers are slanted to support the stance. i challenge anyone to prove me wrong on this one, i would like to see the raw data for myself. i think if i could get through calculus with an a in college, i can figure out statistical analysis. http://kitswv.com
  21. i have been scouring the internet for raw data that i can use to make an informed opinion on the matter, and guess what? i can't find any. i tried the fbi and dept of justice, they don't provide any raw data, just the sources. i tried several other sources as well. it looks like the data doesn't exist in raw form anywhere that i can find. true, i've only been looking for four hours, but it's kind of frustrating. i thought there were places where i could find, say, the amount of homocides involving guns for different periods of time. i hear you guys all the time on here saying things like, where's your source? i did find a very thorough bar graph which says absolutely nothing, even in the graphs it takes someone saying, "the red spike is the us". i want to see the raw data and compile it myself. if i recall correctly, they tried banning assault weapons and high capacity mags from 1993 to 2004. i hear the same rhetoric calling for another in january. i want to see a comparison on how effective it was. personally, i think it's a load of crap. i work for a school system with card keys to enter the school. in one, the door has been propped open for two months because the lock is broken. in all of them, when you push a button, the office will buzz you in without walking to the door. in most of them, there is a glass between the two doors, some have even been replaced with glass with no wire in it-real entry deterrent there to a man with a gun. from the few stats that i could find, it seems that our schools are not very dangerous now. i have a 4th grader in school and want him to be able to go to school and not get shot. and as for me, the weapons of choice that i choose for home defense are all bolt action military rifles, semi auto pistols, and a pump shotgun. and my son is a pretty good shot with his .22. http://kitswv.com
  22. i was a telemarketer for a while and the charities we raised money for got anywhere from 6 to 10%. 28% is huge in the business. i used to think the same thing, pissed me off to no end that so much went to raising the money. one would think why bother, if it costs 96% to raise anything...i think it has a lot to do with the cost of raising large amounts...used to be really expensive to open a call center...i donate locally now, to food banks and causes around where i live http://kitswv.com
  23. if you were there, you would be just in time to catch the last day, at least in munchen. it ends on 7 oct. this year. it is the most amazing party i've ever stumbled into, however. a friend and i got on a train to munchen from nurnburg for a weekend one time, just happened to be the opening of oktoberfest. we ended up crashing in a hostel with a bunch of kiwis, fun times indeed... http://kitswv.com
  24. the former glory is still here, at least to some of us. i asked another former nco from the army a couple of days ago if he would still uphold his oath...he, like myself, agreed that he would. the oath to uphold and defend the constitution. i just wish that politicians would do the same... http://kitswv.com
  25. i don't think any of them deserve any aid, if you were to add up all the foreign aid we spend and take it out of the budget, that would spell the end of the deficit pretty quickly. http://kitswv.com
