  1. yep. end of story. and i did say a blood test should be required, they are much harder to fake and don't need to be calibrated. diabetics don't show positive for bac tests. http://kitswv.com
  2. i have read too much about dna evidence to be overturned by labs having bad techniques, and it's a known fact that eyewitness testimony is inherently false most of the time, ask any detectives. having said that, i am in favor of the death penalty, in most cases. especially in the case of drunk driving. simple example, dude drives drunk, hits car, kills occupants of car. cops arrive, use breathalyzer to determine dude was drunk(and blood test in this case). test comes back positive. death penalty, take him behind the car and execute him. http://kitswv.com
  3. allow me to clarify: our in this case refers to the rights of legal us citizens. of course, it also included the group to which you refer after the amendment to the constitution which allowed them to become us citizens. and i also would accept your definition of our. just curious, how do you personally feel about my stance on the rights of citizens as described in my previous post? and where would my views align politically? i will admit, i'm still a bit confused on this, trying to gather opinions on this, just for fun. http://kitswv.com
  4. have another cup and let me explain it to you. in order to take away freedom from citizens, it first must be gauged how hard to push and when. with seatbelts, it was a safety issue. there were some opponents, but they were shown as opposed to something that could save lives and the views were ignored, freedom lost. then they started on personal issues, ie abortion. still up in the air after years of fighting. then move to patriot act, significant reduction in freedom due to "national security". then move to gay marriage, at supreme court now. then gun control, start pushing for it after each school tragedy. of course, i'm not a lawyer, so things make sense in a different way. my feelings on it are that every legal citizen should be allowed the same rights and protections as every other legal citizen. and this means i do not think that the govt should be allowed to look at my email without a warrant. and that if someone accuses me of terrorism, i should be entitled to a lawyer immediately. and while my children should be required to wear a seatbelt until they are 18, i should be able to choose for myself, kind of like skydiving without an aad if i so choose. and i also believe that if someone's only offense is that he wanted to sell pot to someone over 18, that should not be anyone's business except the individuals involved. a citizen should be able to do what they want, as long as it doesn't interfere with anyone else. smoke pot = ok, smoke pot and kill someone in a car accident = not ok. gambling = ok, gambling after stealing to fund it = not ok. i think it was lincoln who started the erosion of our liberties with the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus in 1862(i think). it got steadily worse after that, mostly in times of war and increasingly more intrusive, until now, these things are commonplace and taken for granted. better? http://kitswv.com
  5. first of all, that's like the old apples to oranges comparison. does not apply here. it was simply a test to see what it takes to start taking away our liberties. in the name of safety, they started with seatbelts and helmets. then they inched ever forward, one stupid law at a time, until in the name of national security, they can do damn near what they want and not only do they not have to answer for it, they don't even have to release records showing how many times they have violated said rights. no links provided to verify, it's all over the internet, search for it if you don't believe me. the reason it worked so well? it's hard to argue with a safety issue, try it sometime. "but it will stop children from getting killed" , try to argue with that without sounding like a total douche. and now look at the state of things. anyone who has ever read sun tzu should be aware of where this is going to lead. http://kitswv.com
  6. i prefer security over a lot of things, and blackberry is still the best os for a phone by far in that area. i thought we were talking phones here. http://kitswv.com
  7. now i'm not a company rep or paid spokesperson or anything, but blackberry is the best smartphone os out right now. but that's like saying ______(insert os here) is the best. lots of variables involved. but when you figure nuber of vulnerabilities, amount of targeted malware, and security, my original statement stands undisputed. http://kitswv.com

even if you don't read the license agreement, just using the custom install like i posted earlier is the only way to uncheck the box to install toolbars on most software. http://kitswv.com
  9. not sure if it still applies, but it used to be that if you wanted to go anywhere in graphic design you wanted a mac. if he just wants a good general purpose computer, i would advise to go with as much ram as you can get, an intel i7, windows 7, and a 500 gb hard drive. manufacturers don't much matter. he will want to try it out at a store, like best buy, to see if the touch pad is to his liking. i got mine from cyberpower pc online because they were one of the few places i could get a laptop with no operating system. it has an i7 and a 500 gb hd, and 8gb ram. but the touch pad kinda sucks. it is centered on the keyboard, not the laptop because it has a keypad also. and it is not as responsive as the toshiba i had before. toshibas are pretty good. http://kitswv.com
  10. i would certainly support minimum training required in order to purchase guns. and i am also going to post a picture of my son at a range on my facebook page as soon as i can find it. if you have to take a test to drive, why not to own a gun? it's reasonable, and military service with a good discharge should be allowed to serve as proof so you don't have to take the test, or police service. http://kitswv.com

thanx for the link. i assumed he merely had another unwanted toolbar based on the original post. you should clean your computer, especially before going to any financial sites. http://kitswv.com
  12. i'll have to agree with that. i hate ms and apple. but ms is where the work is so i do what i have to. blackberry has truly the best os for handheld devices now, but like one review said, the best os doesn't always win or we wouldn't be using ms right now. and it has a sim card and slot for micro sd. that is worth it to me over the iphone right by itself. add the security blackberry has and that tops it off. as for the lack of apps, when you count 200 versions of solitaire as apps, of course you have 200,000. http://kitswv.com
  13. he should have known, he started it with the suspension of habeas corpus. and it has gotten steadily worse as time progressed and the govt got bigger. http://kitswv.com
  14. which is as it should be, interpret the words. i have said this for years. the original intent thing is something i had to throw in there due to some quips i have heard on debates and in in forum discussions. some of the things i have revisited lately are amazingly applicable to today...considering they were written over 200 years ago. that's also why i believe every legal citizen should have the same rights and responsibilities as every other legal citizen, until they forfeit those rights. gay marriage, abortion, gun ownership, voting, driving, etc. the abortion thing i struggled with for a long time, but hey, there's too many people around anyway. http://kitswv.com

always do a custom install, not the express(recommended). if you did this, you said yes to the toolbar because you didn't take the check out of the box, because you didn't see the box. in other words, you had the option not to install it, you just passed it by because you didn't see it. http://kitswv.com
  16. check out the z10 from blackberry in a few days. with contract from at&t and verizon(i think) $200. i got to try one out and it was sweet. all the reviews say it's better than anything out there yet, and i would have to agree. and if you use it for work, you can secure the work profile and leave the personal profile alone. mine should be here tomorrow or friday. http://kitswv.com
  17. i am having a hard time with the classification of politics. ie: i thought liberals were about citizens having liberties, hence the "liberal". if so, how could liberals want something banned? just trying to figure this shit out. http://kitswv.com
  18. loved the post about attacking one amendment in order to allow attacks on others. of course you know this is not the first one to be used as a stepping stone to others. the 4th has been abridged significantly. and from the looks of some of the laws on the books regarding marijuana, it looks like the 10th may have been under attack for much longer. and i am glad to see that someone could properly interpret "original intent" of the 2d. having gone back last week and re-read the federalist papers, i am surprised how the issues have not changed much at all. most of the concerns hamilton had then could be applied today. just another example of history repeating itself. http://kitswv.com
  19. when taken in context, these items you referred to should be legal to own, as they are, and regulated, as they also are. let me help you get to the context of the founding fathers when they devised the constitution. they had just won their independence from what they saw as a tyrannical foreign government. the term militia as used here actually meant able bodied citizens which were to report with their personal arms, rations, and equipment as needed. of course, at the time, the only arms that the military had which the average citizen did not would have to be cannon. so, after looking at the context (and granted, this is only my opinion garnered after only 10 years of part-time, non-professional study of the time frame) then allowing citizens to own assault weapons is actually following in a steeped tradition. when militias became regulated under the control of governments, it was state, not federal, governments. in essence, they were providing citizens the means to overthrow the new government should the need arise. and applying this logic to modern times, we should be allowed to stock up on arms and ammunition of any type that the military would have. and yes, 20mm cannons and rpg's would fall into this category. http://kitswv.com
  20. get a clue! they keep america divided and bickering to ensure the status quo doesn't change and to distract us from what really matters. this is just another example of this. http://kitswv.com
  21. i saw a link that showed some guys not giving up their rights at "border" inspections far from borders. it was really cool. http://boingboing.net/2013/03/06/politely-refusing-to-talk-to-d.html http://kitswv.com
  22. i can deal with the ads here, at least they don't insert ads into posts like some forums do. what i can't stand is that the spam filter doesn't work. i have specifically blocked several different email addresses several times and get hundreds of emails from the same person. but then, you cna't really bitch too much about a free service. http://kitswv.com
  23. screw john wayne (in this case, i like him otherwise). what would patton say? http://kitswv.com
  24. among others. got a towel? http://kitswv.com
  25. http://arstechnica.com/science/2013/03/global-temperatures-hung-a-u-turn-in-1900-reversing-a-5000-year-chill-down/ i can play the "post the link that confirms what you're saying" game as well. it just shows that you can find opposing views from anywhere on this internet thingy. and last time i checked, it was the earth they were talking about. even had i not read this story, it only makes sense that the earth cycles through climate changes all by itself. and emitting that much co2 into the air with no great warming effects would lend a certain credence to this new theory. but hey, i live in reality where common sense often comes into use. but then, i don't have much use for theories, even this one. once again, common sense would dictate we are in the process of ruining the planet for a little creature comfort, we need to stop. but you probably wouldn't understand that either. it wasn't written in a book by anyone with actual credentials. common sense is one of the things that escapes the world of academia the longer one participates. http://kitswv.com
