  1. that's why i say 10-15 sec. if you keep a decent eye out, you know where the cars are and there is no need to distract yourself every 3-5 sec. and if you have a good following distance, distraction will not be a problem, checking mirrors is not a distraction, it's smart driving. and it actually keeps you more alert than just looking in front of you. when you just look forward, you actually get blinded to anything else and lose sight of important things, proven facts. they say "keep your head on a swivel", but i prefer to have my mirrors adjusted so that i don't turn my head, just turn my eyes. if everyone used their following distance correctly, you wouldn't see those 100 car pile ups in a fog bank or icy roads. back on topic, radar detectors are not a bad thing, just risking more money on the fine in that area where they're illegal. http://kitswv.com
  2. well, i will argue with this cop for you. speed does not kill. not having a decent following distance and not being aware of your surroundings kills. when i drive, i always have a 3 second following distance, unless i creep too close, and i do check it periodically. and i always check all three mirrors every 10-15 seconds. very important to know who is coming up on you in the other lane in case you need to avoid an obstacle. and i text and drive all the time. i have a flip phone and i don't even look at it while texting, just count how many times i hit which button. very safe. as for the radar detector, why on earth would you want to use one? just leave earlier, set your cruise at 2-3 mph over the limit, sit back and check your mirrors and following distance and enjoy the small fuel savings. and check your tire pressure at least monthly. be safe. http://kitswv.com
  3. wow. has common sense completely escaped you? what part of not having an ice age now do you not understand? personally, i kind of like not living on an ice sheet, but hey, that's just me. http://kitswv.com
  4. this is what i would expect to happen, given that the orbit and tilt of the earth should be plunging us into an ice age, thanks to global warming, it is staying the same, after warming initially. sounds to me like the earth is holding stable due to opposing forces. one is trying to get colder naturally, the other is artificially warming. when i say common sense, i am of course applying experimental (by me) means to deduce that when something is getting colder, adding a slight heat source will keep the temperature relatively unchanged. http://kitswv.com
  5. i would have to disagree. he said most. and based it on personal experience. i feel the same way about education in general. the system is broken. when entertainers get rich and teachers go broke, it's a shame and a detriment to society. then look into higher education. if they were actually held to standards, there would be no tenure. throughout my college education, i have noticed the same patterns of non experienced educators not knowing how to actually think to solve a problem which arose in class on multiple occasions. and experienced ones who actually brought up examples which nobody could have imagined. to put another way, my son (10) has an iq over 140. he is smarter than me. the only way i can stay on top of his shit is through experience. smart only goes so far, and that's a fact. http://kitswv.com
  6. i have come to expect comments such as this from you. first of all, dc is a state, or not part of any state, so i'm going to include it. second, the fact remains unchanged, no matter how you try to spin it, these two cities have banned guns completely and the gun violence rate is among the highest in the nation. state or no state. and since when did it ever help a debate by changing the subject? as i've told you before, this isn't a classroom, it's reality. but, like any other insulated group, it looks like you too have become confused. therein lies the problem in washington with politicians. when you become too separated from reality for too long, you lose touch with reality and start inventing your own. yet one more reason for term limits... http://kitswv.com
  7. well, nyc and washington dc have gun bans, so they must have near zero gun related deaths, right? http://kitswv.com
  8. after reading the article, i am confused as to what you're trying to say. i understood what the article said, however. from my experience, and maybe it's different in other states, but in wv, the people i know who receive food stamps are broke as shit. all of them work, some of them 2 or more jobs, and all of them are barely getting by. i guess the solution for them is to move. and like i said, this is based on knowing upwards of 6 families on food stamps. http://kitswv.com
  9. how could you suggest even starting to work toward a solution such as that? apparently, the mainstream media made it real hard to find, i hadn't heard even a hint of this before. and trying to get even half the people to work together for anything, the way everyone is kept in a constant state of division by the powerful? i'd like to hear of a few suggestions, i'd take any that made sense, i posted the link to all my friends, but ya gotta be careful. should the govt decide you're up to no good, you can disappear. http://kitswv.com
  10. wow. that would be a great thing here. but, too much special interest to allow it. i'll bet if you put these things to a vote after televising the whole thing, you would get a lot higher turnout than any previous elections. i would vote for it. http://kitswv.com
  11. see, that's what a lot of people think about this subject. the technology is there, for a prototype anyway, of an electric vehicle which is truly innovative. it's pretty cheap as well, just not fully tested at full scale. http://kitswv.com
  12. you are completely ignoring all of the innovation in the last 50 years. beside those mentioned, how about pilot-less drones launching laser guided tomahawk missiles? and there are so many more that i don't want to start a list... http://kitswv.com
  13. looks like there really are some things that everyone agrees on, maybe? http://kitswv.com
  14. no, that's all there is to it. and cartels don't control meth, at least not in wv...too many people making around here. and when they do legalize it, then who cares if the cartels are bringing it in? as long as it's legal here, then most of the violence will stop. and the smuggling will subside heavily, and may stop as well. a lot safer just to declare it and pay taxes rather than lose it when it's confiscated. and they still make a shit ton of money. as do the governments in tax revenue. http://kitswv.com
  15. i don't know, if the lions had a mcd's, would they want to kill livestock? http://kitswv.com
  16. freaking awesome! i love to hear stories about shit like this. http://kitswv.com
  17. first of all, there was a lab in pa i think that said it had tainted over 35000 tests for dna (can't remember the right number, but it was a lot, look it up). 2d, while i agree with your arguments, the poster below you has it right. first, reduce the government employees salaries (starting with congress, then all the way down). then, a simple audit (when i say simple, it may take a year to complete) can trim the fat in federal government programs and agencies. a lot could be done if the government were run more like a corporation. and how often has any of your representatives asked your opinion on anything? i propose a monthly ballot to be mailed or emailed to every registered voter. this should be addressed, with a comment section included. at least then when they ignore you, you have the option to think someone actually cared about what you have to say. http://kitswv.com
  18. i agree with you on this one, i'm tired of all the blame games also. there are two solutions to the problem. one involves a lot of people giving up a lot of conveniences, the other involves a lot of blood and carnage. i would opt for the former, but it would never work, too many people with too much money have things to say about that. and i fear the other wouldn't work too well either. http://kitswv.com
  19. hah! what a fucking joke! you act like it's never been done. there was an article in rolling stone(of all places) a couple of years ago that had a panel of retired congressmen who came together and in three days (!) worked out a budget that eliminated (!) the debt in 10 years! they said the reason it happened was they weren't hampered by parties or lobbyists. so come up with all the ideas you want, if you have time to waste on that, then more power to ya. i am really not trying to sound mean or hurtful to you wendy, i respect your views and opinions. it's just that it's sickening to me that this kind of leadership should be allowed to go unchecked when there is obviously a solution. http://kitswv.com
  20. voting in other politicians will get the same result. until lobbyists are outlawed or politicians are put in the proper place(employees of us), then the only way to get anything to change and to truly be for the people is armed overthrow of the government. the founding fathers would agree http://kitswv.com
  21. wow. that's cool. and what a subject to agree on. http://kitswv.com
  22. i worked as a pac nco and have heard of policies which determine medal by rank. if you were a staff sergeant or higher you got a bronze star. i was on rear det and got recommended for an msm but it got kicked back for some bullshit. i'm still not pissed about it nor would i want something anywhere near a bs. that reminds me of when they took the black beret and gave rangers shit brown ones to boost morale. or lowering standards for females to involve more of them in combat. i'm all about letting them go, just don't lower your standards for anything. it's called combat for a reason. pathetic. http://kitswv.com
  23. yeah right. and the us troops in vietnam had a huge success against untrained civilians. let anyone try to come here to the mountains and see what happens. there are places you cannot get to except walking and by air, and airdrops are notoriously dangerous when tried in that much forest. and the only dz's and lz's are easily covered. while i am not advocating armed resistance, yet, it's better to be prepared than not to be. and the majority of the people around here are not happy with government anyway. i've talked to a lot of former soldiers who agree with me, we swore to uphold and defend the constitution, not the government, or the people in office. if the constitution gets amended, then that's the will of the people. or a freaking huge lobby, either way, sometimes it really is black and white. as long as the amendment is there, then let the government try to take away my guns. http://kitswv.com
  24. i learned visual basic in class along with python. it was pretty easy, but we didn't get as deep into vb as i would have liked. i had the structuring down pretty good with python, but oo programming drove me nuts. i went through a book, leanr visual basic 2010 in 24 hours, great book and you wrote a simple picture viewer program and push it out with the publisher and make an install file. i had mine out about an hour before i got the first update finished. i had the 2d and 3d updates done the next day. i love making something better. haven't had a chance to port that one over to vb yet, i'm learning c++ first. i am gonna look for those emulators for when i get some free time. http://kitswv.com
