  1. Thanks for posting. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  2. Another week and you will be cured of that nasty legitis. Lot's of us attended a many of the Ft. Benning schools for young men-great memories. Keep the wings they pin on you-someday they will have even more value. Buy some from C/S or the PX for your uniform. Good luck next week-keep your feet and knees together and eyes on the horizon. 3. I seldom tip for anything-don' believe in it. The price for service is the price. Sure i realize most work for tips-not my concern. Not to be rough or a hard ass-just don't do it. This whole tipping thing really astounishes me. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  4. Came accross it too late or the jump ticket would have been mine. I use to build these and teach how to build these in the late 70's/early 80's for an improvised watercraft class. Mostly college students that were outdoor education majors at CMSU-but also to the military for survival purposes. Trying to find some old pictures now. 5. You can always go to collegiates. Try and connect with some folks from KSUPC. The K-State folks are pretty active. Deland has a couple of cheap options. One of the coach/insturctors from Skydive University rents bunks in his house. The holiday inn express has rooms for $59.00 a night and there is camping on the DZ. If you want something cheap before then, we have a climbing trip to Arkansas the middle weekend in Nov. KU, UCM, KSU, MU, SFCC, MSU all have students going-many of them jumpers. $85.00 all inclusive for the weekend, lodging, food, gear, climbing fees. There are 4 slots left. Will be around 70-75 of us total. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

  9. Hat's off to all who stood and fought for the right thing. One for the good guys. Let's hope this is the begining of the end to those who shame this sport with unfair business practices. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  10. yeah that was scary-but the real fear came after she got her license and the first time she drove down the driveway by herself to head out. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  11. Kudos to those who stayed on mission and revealed the truth. Peace to all. Never stop until all are returned. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  12. I can give you a first hand account of what it's like to be a hung jumper out the right door of a C-141. Just for a moment-seemed like a lifetime. Fryer DZ-Ranger class 4-84. I would love to see some video.Quote "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

  16. Jello shot were a favorite on our float trips. We float in the Ozark National park Waterway-they banned jello shots because fo the litter from the cups. Some of our younger folks in the group discovered fruit soaked in peach shnapps and other flavors. Try pineapple chunks, grapes, strawberries, chunk canteloupe etc. put in zip lock bag. add schnapps, soak in fridge overnight-they are awesome and refreshing. They are now a staple on our climbing trips and float trips. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  17. IMO I have a loved one who gets in a taxi. The taxi driver drives fast, disobeys the law and misuses the car. Results are a fatal wreck. Should i sue the car manufacturer for the taxi driver disobeying the rules and operating the vehicle outside of the procedures required? It's just another crazy example of our legal world. Of course the plaintiff's attorney is hoping for a settlement. This is the legal form of extortion. You pay me or i'll drive your legal cost to prohibitive amounts. Then it becomes a business decision. Not a right or wrong question. Accountability-no our legal system has only blurred those lines in order to profit more. Unfortunatley this is our system. Maybe one day it will get better. Until then we just need to be thankful that gear manufacturers will make gear for us to play with. Best of luck to Strong. 22. Cost for an "A" license at Skydive K State is about $800.00 We give priority to students. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  23. Do not sell your rig. All you need for furniture is a blow up mattress. Especially if you are moving and starting over. You are going somewhere to chase dreams and be happy so do it. You do not need material things-you can rebuild and rebuy-keep the rig and jump all you can. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  24. Greene County Sport parachute in Wellsville Ks. Jumped there in 84 or 85. Already mentioned but Bragg had GBSPC in 84. The 82nd and 18 corp also had clubs-not sure if they are still open. Use to be a club in the Rolla Missouri area-think it's closed also. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  25. If you are wanting to stay in the midwest-try the KC area-several DZ's are within a couple of hrs. All are friendly. Plenty of nursing jobs. In fact if you are an ED looking for work PM me. There are more great DZ's with good folks than there are less than desirable ones. Keep trying. SDC and Archway are also good choices. My daughter and her friends (college kids) travel to DZ's and do it cheaply. Lot's of options as long as you keep with it. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
