  1. I met chromy a few trips back to Deland-he has a bunk house and i stayed there once-great guy and excellent coach. Plus it's birthday weekend for me. I'll have to talk to the other Missouri boy and see if he's interested-sounds like a good way to kick the summer off and then a month later we have the Peggs boogie at KSUPC, then a week later the Hillbilly boogie. Come on summer. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  2. Very nice and very cool. Who makes these? "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  3. If you come into KC then the DZ is about 1.5hrs west. You are going to Jeff City which about 3hrs East so not an option to camp, but maybe a couple of loads on Sunday. As for camping-i recommend you get a hotel-showers and a comfy bed are nice. Plus if you go to the fire school site you will find a hotel list with rates and a bus stops at most of them to take you to the training location-parking is a hassle otherwise. Summer fire school is a good time. Sounds like your schedule is tight, hope you can make our boogie and enjoy some midwest hospitality and jumping. Good luck with getting west on the fireline. EMT certification is still the fastest way i know of, plus getting on a helitack crew usually requires some previous experience-which usually means going out for a summer or two and punding the ground and scratching line. But it will yeild memories for a lifetime and the views are awesome. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  4. There absolutely has to be an attempt. Gonna be numerous young ladies there that will enjoy the inspiration. Gotta get the media to profile it-i mean after all, the main stream sports will be over with. Whats better to fill the sports segment with than hot, talented MOKAN girls making a record. Better yet get one of the KC reporters on a tandem. Surely there could be other record attempts. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
  5. Sounds like you will be attending Summer Fire School and the Wildland Academy. Fly into MCI. Have you got lodging yet-summer fire school fills up the area hotels fast-so if you have not done so you need to soon. Have you been out west yet on the fireline? If not best way to get there is to get as many certs as possible and get listed in your state resource-being an EMT or Medic will really fast track you. I also know several who are listed on different state lists as single resource. KSUPC is having a boogie the first week of June-maybe get a couple of jumps in. We'll put you up on the DZ camping. On the Missouri side you have MRVS-great folks there too. I always love talking to youngsters about chasing those adventures in the fire service-PM if you want to talk or maybe want some angles to get you out west faster. Good luck. 7. Hey all, Good friend of mine, newly licensed skydiver who works for the government here in Missouri-makes frequent trips to Elgin AFB in the Florida panhandle. He's looking for a place to jump while there. Any help is appreciated. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

  10. We did this for a project with my daughter when she was in the 6trh grade. I was a firefighter then and the bear made it around the world. She ended up getting postcards and gifts from all over and some really cool photos from various fire departments in different countries and on different continents. Pretty cool. When the bear made it back to us i took all the photos and put them into a slide show. Count me in. "You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"
