  1. Thank you for your selfless service Dick Winters, and all of those in Easy Company. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  2. You have to LIVE to learn. There are a lot of mistakes that I don't want to learn the hard way in skydiving. This is especially true because I made a huge mistake on my last jump and I'm limping around in a knee brace because of it. Yeah we learn from mistakes but we also learn from success. Yes if I knew that the cells were blown out and we were above decision altitude I would have cut that bitch away. Especially as the passenger. The passenger is the one who is most likely to be injured on the landing because they hit the ground first. If that's me, fuck yeah I would cut away. But I also realize that saying what I would do is one thing, and actually being in the situation is another. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  3. I find it interesting that the passenger (an experienced skydiver) chose to land the main with 4 blown out cells too. I'm 99.999% sure that this tandem system was Strong Enterprises. On these types of jumps (candidate jumping for a tandem rating with a licensed jumper as the passenger), the passenger has handles which they can use to cut away and pull the reserve. I'm assuming that they were wearing an altimeter too (and they they knew the decision altitude). Those handles are required to be there for a reason! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  4. Skydive Temple is a great place- good people, good vibes...what more could you ask for http://3ringnecklace.com/
  5. Happy Birthday Lee! We miss ya http://3ringnecklace.com/
  6. Oh quit your whining! It's going to be at least 3 more months if not more until I can even THINK about jumping again (I'm grounded recovering from knee surgery). Waiting another week is not going to kill ya. Get over it already. Geez http://3ringnecklace.com/
  7. [cutie voice] Who's a grumpy birthday boy? [/cutie voice] http://3ringnecklace.com/
  8. Where's the "Like" button? Congrats Nataly! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  9. I HATE that song about the Christmas shoes- That stupid kid who is dirt poor wants to buy his bedridden mom a pair of shoes. It makes no sense! It's so stupid-- argh! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  10. Welcome to the skies! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  11. Shouldn't it be called a "unihorn" rather than a "unicorn?" http://3ringnecklace.com/
  12. Ok so I'm not the only one out there who is suffering! I had ACL and cartilage surgery 8 weeks ago. I had a very bad landing due to a low turn (I know, I know...). This is my THIRD acl reconstruction (the previous two were not due to skydiving) and NO is ISN'T fun. This has been the worst one yet because I destroyed my cartilage and spent 6 weeks in a Continuous Passive Motion machine and non-weight bearing on crutches. I'm walking now but with a cane. I got my CTI brace, which I'm going to be wearing on both legs when I return to skydiving. I have been skydiving in the past with acl reconstructions on both knees and I didn't have much of a problem. I wear roller blade knee pads on both knees to protect against kneeling in the plane and on landings. If you're going to invest in a jump suit, make sure it fits over your brace. You're not alone buddy! We'll both be back into the air before we know it! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  13. You know you won't be able to see yourself on video if the Go Pro is on your helmet, right? +1 on the no way. Again, you need 200 jumps for a camera and there are reasons for that. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  14. Haha the pictures in the comments are so funny! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  15. It was both very awesome and very terrible. Very awesome: feel in love with a wonderful guy and couldn't be happier Very terrible: sprained left mcl in May, and tore acl, mcl, and cartilage in Sept http://3ringnecklace.com/
  16. The other dropzones in Georgia are Skydive the Farm in Cedertown (Otter) and Skydive Monroe (King Air). Check out the reviews of the dropzones on dz.com to help determine your decision http://3ringnecklace.com/
  17. I am a very loyal customer to them as well. Even though there are other threads commending Chuting Star, another reminder about how great they are doesn't hurt!
  18. I'm planning on making an appearance at the Halloween Boogie at Skydive Dallas. I won't be jumping though- still on crutches. I won't be jumping until spring or summer next year. Still, I miss my skydiving buddies and want to say hi! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  19. How many jumps were on that canopy? The reason why I'm asking is because maybe a canopy in need of new lines (aka out of trim) is more prone to line twists. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  20. Never broken a bone I had bumps and bruises along the way. I didn't get injuries until I got to 900 jumps. In the past year, I dislocated my left elbow, tore my left mcl, and tore my right knee up pretty badly. I'm recovering from the surgery now. I agree with SkyMama...if you never want to be injured again, then staying away from skydiving is not the answer. I've been injuried participating in other sports as well. Being active in ANY sport makes a person more prone to injury. But our bodies are made to move, and we take that risk, no matter what we do. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  21. Let's see....you mean besides sitting on the ground in a knee brace, limping around the dropzone and watching everyone else jump? Hmmmmmmm........let me think....... I'm flying to Philadelphia on Sunday for a two week conference. I won't be missing jumping because I can't jump anyway! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  22. I only had 50-60 jumps at the time. I remember jumping the helicopter and loving it. I also remember landing in mud and not loving it. Good times. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  23. Congrads Laura and John! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  24. Men don't do that, worthless assholes do that. Furthermore, worthless asshole ex-boyfriends do that. Or did that. Whatever, you get my point. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  25. Have you talked to your local rigger? http://3ringnecklace.com/
