  1. http://www.urbanspoon.com/f/11/1059/Austin/Vegetarian-Restaurants?last_filter=cuisine Hope this helps! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  2. Pete was a good friend of the family. He did a lot for the Hudson Valley and for our nation. He will be missed http://3ringnecklace.com/
  3. Hey everyone- I am getting married in March 2014 to another skydiver. I would like to incorporate pull-up cords into my wedding decor. If you have extra purple, green, grey or black pull-up cords that you are willing to part with (no matter what the condition), please email me at [email protected]. Thanks in advance! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  4. I second the recommendations for Skydive Spaceland and Skydive Dallas. There is a bar/pizza joint nearby Skydive Dallas called The Loft- highly recommended as well. Be sure to check out iFly in Austin along the way! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  5. I jumped at Skydive Kapowsin while in on a business trip. The people are super friendly and the vibe is great overall. People were helpful from my arrival and I immediately got on some 10 ways. The views from up top are beautiful and scenic! They are based out of a huge hanger. Lots of packing space and a huge landing area. There is an onsite ATM and a snack bar (cash only). Cheeto was organizing and I was welcomed to jump on some 10 ways. They have a huge, fully stocked beer fridge. I was a little surprised at how lax they were though. No calls for the loads, no 2 min warning. Manifesting was signing up on a piece of paper on a clipboard. No red light; just cut and go without checking the spot. Still, I would jump there again in heart beat and I really recommend it.
  6. I feel bad for the construction workers. After digging the driver and his car out, I'm pretty sure the driver didn't stick around to help fix the concrete that he messed up. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  7. While it will be warm enough to jump, the winds traditionally will be up and gusty. It's usually iffy to jump in the spring in Texas http://3ringnecklace.com/
  8. Welcome! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  9. What about saying something like, "It was nice catching up with you but I have to go. Thanks and have a good one." It is a pet peeve of mine when a person doesn't want to chat anymore but they just cut you off. You wouldn't walk away from a conversation without saying goodbye face to face. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  10. This made me think of the thread that was about beautiful women = trouble. As for this lady who wants the Super Bowl tickets but not the relationship, the fact that she is a Vegas model should have been a red flag to begin with. That's not his fault mind you, but I'm just sayin' http://3ringnecklace.com/
  11. There isn't a Fort Hood Parachute Club anymore. The closest dropzone is Skydive Temple in Salado Texas. That might be a good place to start but it wasn't around in the 1970s. BTW I'm a jumper and I work at Fort Hood (Army contractor, been here for 4 years) http://3ringnecklace.com/
  12. I've noticed a bad trend in my past relationships...they were all jerks! Yeah I need to change that up http://3ringnecklace.com/
  13. Welcome to skydiving! There is a Skydiver with Disabilities forum here so that may be something you're interested in checking out. Also, there is a Womens Only forum too. All best and blue skies! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  14. Book clubs- boring as all fuck. How do whuffos do it??? http://3ringnecklace.com/
  15. 185 tandems, one puker. Under canopy. I didn't mind that it splattered all over the cut away handle and my arm. It was the smell that was horrible. Rancid Yuk And we were caught in an updraft so it took forever to get down too! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  16. Going home to see my two older sisters, my brother-in-law, my mom and her boyfriend. We have lots of family traditions! I'm also going to visit with friends while I'm back home. I can't wait!!! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  17. You could easily go to the 2 hour dropzone. I drive 4 hours one-way to my home dz, passing at least 3 other dropzones along the way. People ask me all the time why so I go to one so far away. Simple - THE VIBE! Vibes can make or break a dropzone. Breaking into the social scene can be difficult for experienced jumpers too. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  18. I didn't know Hippie that well but from the few times I hung out with him he was a great guy. Fly free Hippie- we miss you!! http://3ringnecklace.com/
  19. I had an acl replacement a year ago. I also have extensive cartilage and meniscus damage. I am probably going to have a meniscus transplant, as well as an allograft plug in my articular cartilage. I am opting for this because I'm only 31 and knee replacements only last 10 years or so. Maybe that is something to ask your doctor about. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  20. Your cartoons are awesome! Once you have a butt load of jumps, you're going to look back and smile at what you've accomplished. There are a lot of threads on DZ.com about being nervous when you jump. If you haven't already, there is a lot of great info out there about it and stories of other jumpers' experiences too. Blue skies!
  21. Wow - this is a shock. I knew Jack when I was jumping in Georgia a few years back. He was always very encouraging and supportive. He helped me out when I was working towards fulfilling my coaching rating requirements. We miss and love you Jack. See you on the other side. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  22. There were a couple of students that I took on tandems that did not get a rush. They were EXTREMELY mellow to begin with and did not express emotion much to begin with. Or maybe you're just dead inside. http://3ringnecklace.com/
  23. I'd hate to get off topic and actually comment on the original subject of this thread but... ...I'm lying. I'd LOVE to comment on the original topic! I haven't read the entire thread so forgive me if this was already mentioned- Another scenario includes the male student getting a crush on the female instructor (tandem and/or AFF). This can happen too! And it is equally a no-no. Personally I did not get a crush on my instructors because a) my IAF instructors were female and 2) my coach was my boyfriend anyway. My 2 cents http://3ringnecklace.com/
  24. I LOVE your cartoon! it's so true and so funny at the same time. The really cool part (for me, the sport psychologist anyway) was the self-talk (the other duck). It plays such a vital part of skydiving! The self-talk duck never really goes away; it just gets quieter and at times says different (more positive) things. Blue skies!! Are you going to get your A license? http://3ringnecklace.com/
