  1. Hi John, As for firearms education, I just wonder what kind of training the "Boy Scouts" does these days?? When I was a kid, firearms training and marksmanship were part and parcel of Scouting. When I got to high school me and some of my friends got involved with the Civil Air Patrol Cadet program and also had firearms training and marksmanship program. Good fun!! Learned a lot. Got to "Sharpshooter 7th bar." Don't know about these daze?? I'm glad I grew up when I did, where I did with the society, significant others, mores and folkways that were our comunity at the time. 2. Hi Andy, I can only wonder what Frank Zappa would have to say about all this???????? "What is the ugliest part of your body? Some say your nose, Some say your toes, but I think it's your MIND!!!!" (From an old Frank Zappa album) SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  3. Hi 431, Things that make light in the middle of the night!! Flashlights, candles and lanterns!! These new LED or whatever flashlight bulbs are cool. From daze gone by we have from my mom-in-laws' house 3 old coal oil (as we used to call kerosene when we were kids) lamps!! They are quiet (don't make a lot of noise like coleman lamps) and can burn for hours. Just remember with candles and any petro powered lamp, "It's Fire!!" and be careful!! Also add a deck or two of cards and a good portable radio. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  4. Hi Tiger, Too tight per the above could be the problem?? Also, Where ya' opening at?? If yer up in the stratosphere, long canopy rides can be a bitch! What kind of harness do you have?? Double wide T/VII with a cushy pad should be about the best. Single wide webbing and a thin pad can be really uncomfortable!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  5. Yup, as I have done on various GA aircraft over the years, but on the commercial side things have gotten a little out of hand. With TSA's hiring processes and "training" who needs a terrorist? Hi Dave, I really like that part about with TSAs' hiring processes and "training," who needs a terrorist!!!!!!!!!!!!!hahahahaha!!! That's the best I've heard yet!! TSA and the Dem's, Usama's best friends!! They're eating right out of his hands!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  6. Hi Jim, Yup, cats are a trip, got 5 right now!! Their antics and low altitude base jumps are neat. One thing we definitely like about having them around,....NO Mice!!! My 5, "Angel Food McSpade, Lucky, Jethro, Chucky Blue, and Pumkin." SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  7. Hi John, "Puzzled" is a realy good choice of words here!! Someone(s) in the B*TF definitely has a problem with the corncobb up their ass!! So now they are threatening to destroy this guys' "Spad" because he was unaware of some bureaucratic paper work BS!! I just hope he gets this straightened out and gets his plane back!! One thing that gets me is this is an "American" plane that was in France and I wonder what kind of hoops the guys at Classic Avia. in Reno had to go thru to get those Chicom Migs that they imported into the US???!!! 8. Hi Annie, Sounds like fun!! Back a few cases of beer ago at Scare-us-valley there were a few "film events" to behold. Naked lady in a rig exiting the otter camera man in tow!! Bikini top and bottom hanging from the throttle handles!! Big smile on the pilot's face!! "The fallin' angel!!" 'Just the beginning!! ....Oh yes and my AFF students eyeballs popping out!! 9. Hi jj, Everyone pretty much covered what can happen!! Bottom line is that there are no rules except Jungle Rules!! "AND," remember that the Reaper is on overtime at Boogies so it is considered very tacky to Bounce at a Boogie!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

Because somebody may be too f-in serious. I used to read other internet skydiving discussion sites. The most frequent cause of their demise was someone who was "TFS". Someone had been in the sport for so long that they couldn't remember the primary goal - to have fun. Everything was serious and "an issue". Everything was an argument. Sure, safety is serious. But, basically, skydiving is supposed to be fun. I believe that the actual future of the sport is people sitting around a bonfire with their friends. Smiling while they talk about something that they did today. Foolish online antics are probably preferable to the thickening of mud around sticks. Even online. Hi ht, Funny you should mention that about "FUN!!" A few cases of beer ago there was an interview with Jerry Bird in "Skydiving" mag. The question: "Jerry, how would you describe 'Skydiving?'" The answer:" Skydiving is Having Fun In Freefall With Your Friends." There was more to the interview but that's the part that stuck out the most to me!! Before RW became a competitive event we called it Fun Jumping and we were Fun Jumpers! The "Serious Jumpers" were the Style and Accuracy freaks. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  11. Hi Tiger, Good stuff, keep it up!! I made my first jump at Hammond Airport 08MAY64 with Southland Skydivers. Lots of LSU fans around!! Back in the day, most jumping around South La. was from Cessnas till Bob "The Stud" Munn got a Howard DGA-15P!!! Dont worry about "Not falling very well??" You went straight down didn't you!!? Have fun!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  12. Hi Red, Malfunctions - any time the thing doesn't work the way it is suppose to! When malfunction(s) get to the point where your vertical velocity is out of control and you can then consider Plan "B" I guess you can say you have a "failure!!" How do you draw the line? Simple, ask an Engineer!! Here's a quote taken from the Boeing ALCM (Air Launched Cruise Missile) Mid-Air Retrival Parachute System main Parachute packing manual built by ScurvyIrvin. Some Boeing Engineer got paid a lot of $$ to pipe-dream this comment. "A 'Failure' is defined to be any malfunction or combination of malfunctions of a previously acceptable item which degrades any performance parameter to a level outside its specified performance limit or fails structurally." ....Think Fast!! 13. Hi Dennis, How much is too much, how much is not enough?? Never mind the milk, got ammo?? I concur with Terry's comment. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  14. Hi hack, 'ya got 2 choices, leave the nub in or try to get it out. If you can find a machine parts supply place and get some really small "Easy outs" and a drill bit about 1/2 the dia of the nub you can do it. It requires a really steady hand. At SPCUSA (Sun Path Contracting in Raeford) we had a class VII machine that got the needle set screw head broke off!! I had a easy out and got the screw out. Steady hand is the word, you have to drill in the middle of the nub, if your drill goes to the threads, you're had! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  15. Hi VSG, Remember rule #1 of "Case of beer rules.".. Rule #1.. There are no rules so you have to make them up as you go along.... "Broke yer leg..."Case Of BEER!!!!" Hell don't worry, I'd buy a 12 pak just to hear your,"No shit there I was...story!!" Hope you heal fast and don't require any hardware!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  16. Hi Sky, Google Phil Zimbardo and the Stanford Prison experiment. It is not "the" answer but it sure opens up a lot of questions that are still looking for answers....and it's been 30+years!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  17. let's see ... from an earlier post quoting the bill.. "(1) shall have access to all relevant data concerning such networks without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access;" so who defines 'relevant' ??? you later define it as network structure... good, we'll put you in charge, but you're not in charge .... does the term 'plumbers' mean anything to you (were you even born then ??) this allows abuse of anyone's rights by anyone who wants to interpret it in the 'correct' way ... and if you don't agree with the 'correct' way ... you obviously never went to YALE/HARVARD (or own an oil company, or 'steward' a large corporation) and should be subject to immediate investigation under the 'Patriot' act ... up to and including 'enhanced' interrogation .... the entire NET should go under PKE (public key encryption) right now... you have to publish the keys ... but if we all did, they'd spend ALL their time finding them .... but, we it to catch terrorists .... oh, and when you start worrying I'm a 'bleeding heart liberal' ... I am, without the 'bleeding heart' for instance, next time they ID a suicide bomber (NO matter where he is from) ... within 1 month, ID every single relative, right down to 5th cousins ... and then lob about 500 cruise missiles out there to all locations ... next day and every day after ... no more suicide missions (perhaps a little flapdoodle on the diplomatic front, but too bad) the allies beat the Japanese in 45 (a dedicated, nation-wide suicide cult) with 3 simple operational rules 1. they had the WILL to kill them all 2. they had the MEANS to kill them all 3. they were actively killing them all (please refer to documentation of incendiary raids thru out Japan.. make no mistake... they were ready to kill them all ... NO suicidal nutcase will continue if he knows your response is to kill everybody he is related to and everybody they ever met ... then HIS act ... condemns many ... and they stop NOTHING else works and we'll end with that radical leftist bastard, Benjamin Franklin 'he who is willing to sacrifice Liberty for Safety deserves neither' Right On Crusty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 18. Hi VSG, Been there, done that, got the T-shirt...only when I did mine it was an open and shut case!!! 31MAR73, Otay CA, Lousy PC Landing, 3 screws in the bones at the VA hospital in San Diego!! 19. Hi "269," Here's the deal. Make a bunch of jumps with various suits. then go up and make a naked skydive with just rig, shoes and hat. Do this with several other jumpers, hopefully the dive is "co-ed." The lack of drag producing material on your body will enlighten you! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  20. Hi boink, Some years ago now, at Scare-us-valley, rain to the east of the DZ, sun to the west, a bunch of jumpers open up, and from our perspective, yup there was the rainbow and someone took the photo of the jumper under canopy passing thru the rainbow. I saw it so did others. I wonder if the photo is still in the Bombshelter!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  21. Hi Sky, "What ever ya' gotta' do ta' get yer nose in the Blue!!" Skydive, Hang/paraglide, fly ultra lights, fly model airplanes, hangout at the airport bar, drink beer and tell lies!! It's all good. Pocketa, pocketa, pocketa!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  23. Hi grav, Aw heck, I thought you might have a photo of some old fart jumping in Fairchild Indiancraft Moccasins ala the early mid 60's!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  24. Hi Tall, Got mine!! Back when, 'ya got just the silver wings for the A-license (used to be all ya' needed was 10 jumps!!) if ya' had 50 or more jumps ya' got a 50 jump bar ta' hang on yer wings. If ya' had yer wings and got yer B license they (PCA) sent you a "Parachutist" tag and a corresponding jump # bar in increments of 50. C license was Jumpmaster and D was Xpert!! Nobody had 1000 jumps back then so Gold wings was a ways off. Usedto be ya' could "Jumpmaster" with a C license and "Instruct" with a D, then they came out with the rating system in the early 70's. Then the C "Jumpmaster" license got changed to "Advanced" or was it "Intermediate??" I don't know as I got the c-"Jumpmaster" license!! Somewhere, somebody said that Ottley was behind getting rid of the various "Bars" on the wings!! Who knows?? Unless there are some old wings left in the archives at USPA ya' might have to trade something special for a set from an old fart!! Mine are mine, so forget it!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  25. Hi JR, "There are 3 things a man (or woman) can't have too many of; Guns, Ammo and Knives!!!" Not necessarily in any order! Read about this dude on Dave Codrea's blog, interesting set of circumstances but WTF, what if he was hoarding Beer and peanuts instead?? "Just in case" our buddy Barry Obamarama tries to sneak thru his 500% tax on guns "AND" ammo to try and fund his various misadventures, at least this dude would have a few rounds to plink with! Hell, buy in bulk for a better deal.. Federal 550 round .22LR Value pak bricks ..when you can get em' these daze!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
