  1. Hi steve, Know what you mean about downwind-PC-accuracy-don't miss the pit!!! Brady didn't do the downwind thing all the time, just sometimes. But when he did it was quite the show!! These downwinders of Brady's were NOT accuracy!! He'd hookturn and pick up as much horizontal speed as you could with a PC and power the landing with 2 or 3 rolls!! How he never broke any bones I'll never know!! Like I said at Otay in front of Jim and Nina McDonald's manifest shed on the hard dirt!! Too much fun!! If the people that jump at Otay now only knew???!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  2. Hi Steve, "Downwind Brady!!" Brady Sanders used to jump So. Cal. and Otay back in the old Round Canopy Round Star daze, early 70's, PC's were the staple canopy. Unless you were doing comp. accuracy in the pit most people landed PC's into the wind for the max easy landing. Not always for Brady!! He'd come screaming "downwind!" over the hard ground in front of the manifest shed at Otay, give out a yahoo!, hit the ground, do about 3 or 4 PLF's get up and collapse his canopy while everyone looked on in disbelief with their jaws down to their knees!!!! After ya' seen him do it a couple of times it got to be old hat. Still, no broke legs!!! Brady was one of the jumpers that got killed in Spike's Beech when it crashed on takeoff at Taft in '82. Fly on Brady. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  3. Hi Lucky, Congrats and great job!! Keep it up. One thing I felt when I quit was that from that day forward, smoking was part of my "PAST!" It's a line drawn in the sand that you step over and never look back! When I was in the Navy on the USS Princeton LPH-5 in Nam '68 I decided that when we got back from that cruise, I'd quit smoking. When we pulled into Long Beach and I was in line to get off the ship, I asked the guy behind me if he smoked, he said yes and I said here, have this 1/2 pack of smokes. I walked off the afterbrow and when I set foot on CONUS, no more cigarettes!! That was in DEC of '68. Still not smoking!! Good Luck!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  4. Hi Ry, Interesting? Got sinus problems? Clear sinuses and eustation tubes are preferred! You'll know you have a major problem when you rupture a sinus and besides the nose bleed you have a splitting headache and you can't see because a bone fragment from the rupture punctured your optic nerve!! Not a very likely senario but .... SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  5. Hi Br, Really cute! You got one hell of a great dad!!! Have you invited him to go skydiving with you yet?? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  6. Hi gup, Because they are insecure and have a very low opinion of theirself..(period!) The person may be outwardly secure but on the inside, lookout. Anyone or anything outside of their own little life space that appears to them to be "in control of their life" or this person thinks the other has assets that transend theirs, they feel.. you guessed it.. "Intimidated!!" With them, they have to be "L-numro-uno!" get it?, so guess what, to make theirself feel "better" best way is to "eliminate the threat or at least diminish it to below their 'level'." Be very careful with these people for they are the fodder that great movies and dead people are made of. This person is not your "first" and won't be your "last" just keep your eyes open, your mind clear and definitely keep them beyond arms length from your life! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  7. Hi Pat, Thinking back over the years, 1969-70 I was in the Navy, Westpac 7th Fleet. Got to Subic in the Philippines and headed over to the Paraloft at Cubi Pt. Hey guys any jumping going on?? Got a couple in with the Cubi Pt. Sport Parachute Club, good fun. 1976, Najafabad Iran (near Isfahan) working for Grumman Aero, and a friend from Bell Heli. we wrangled some helo time for 11 practice jumps and a "4th of July demo for the Grumman/Bell 4th of July Party." Whenever a couple of skydivers can get a plane and some place to jump..Fly out to the desert, a place on the River or to a beach in Mexico, camp out, go fishing, surfing, make a few jumps, drink some beer. (don't know about Mexico these daze?!!!) Short lived DZ's but DZ's none the less. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  9. Who exactly has dies to protect your right to own guns? It started with these men, in Lexington, 1775: ROBERT MUNROE JONAS PARKER SAMUEL HADLEY JOHN BROWN ISAAC MUZZEY CALEB HARRINGTON. JONATHAN HARRINGTON JEDEDIAH MUNROE JOHN RAYMOND NATHANIEL WYMAN "Lay down your arms, you damned rebels, and disperse!" "Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon. But if they want to have a war, let it begin here." Every serviceman swears an oath to uphold the Constitution, which includes the 2nd Amendment. Even Barack Obama had to swear this oath. Thanks John for "Tellin' it!!" Least we forget, hell, they didn't forget, they never got it!! "God, Guns and Guts Keep America Free!!!" For now. 12. Hi shot 1/2, "Cardinal PUFF!!!!" Got the issue ol LC's SkyDiver mag with the article about the Cardinal games and they start off with "IronClad" at the old "Rumbleseat" bar in Hermosa Bch. Waz at Dicky and Marilyn's Rumbleseat bar at Elsinore and asked Gary Douris for a Demo. Got one and went for it. 13. Hi JD, Funny thing you should mention that! Quite a few cases of beer ago a bunch of jumpers came down from a jump one Sat morn at OLD ELSINORE. A bunch of guys just laughed and someone suggested getting a case of Coronas and drinking a few. The rest is history. Go to www.airtrash.com and see for your self. memememmeme!! 16. Hi pat, Got a good thread goin'!! Nobody mentioned SE Louisiana yet, so here goes. Today ya' got a DZ at Slidel, LA. Times gone go to Hammond Airport in the 60's. Started out with Louisiana Skydivers fron Baton Rouge, Delta Skydivers from N.O. and then Southland Skydivers from Hammond. Eventually "Southern Parchute Center" ran by Ben Seal Jr. then Leon Riche. Small town politics and it moved to Covington. The airport at Hammond would be a really great DZ but for Hammond Politics!! There was a couple of "cow pasture" DZ's around Baton Rouge that Louisiana Skydivers used but would have to take off from Ryan Airport or Downtown airport. One was called "Blacks" and I recall the "Perkins' Street Pea Patch!" I remember that Herb Golden was a big hit for the whuffs that would watch at the fence line, short light weight guy would consistently do "stand up landings" under a cheapo 7-TU! The Cajuns had one around Abbeville I believe and there were a few others. As I recall, it all started when someone put an add in the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate saying that anyone interested in starting a "Skydiving Club" please meet at the Natl. Guard Armoury on Tuesday night. That's another thread and the rest is history! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
