  1. Hi Jen, That would be great as then they would be secure in their own personality!! It's the insecure bastards that when they find out that you jump they go into this big defensive trip about,"WHY THEY DON'T JUMP!!" Oh Brother! I want to just walk away. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

  3. Hi Gonzo, "ALL OF 'EM" As for fun on the 4th or any other time, it's definitely rockets! From bottle rockets to the largest ya' can get!! Cherry bombs, dixie dynamite, regular old firecrackers and you name it. Good fun!! Just be careful out there!! The high-test stuff can relieve you of fingers, eyes and other body parts!!! Remember the sayin' from the military ordnance handelers hard sayin's manual, "5 second fuzes always burn off in 3 seconds!!!" If it's bigger than a standard 1 1/2" firecracker "Light and throw" is not in the picture!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  4. Hi DK, Great story, like the old sayin' 'bout keepin' yer' powder dry (as in gunpowder!!) ya' kin' say the same fer' yer jump gear!!! Wet chutes can give you a wack!!...in more ways than one!! Dipped gear definitely needs to be dried out before the next jump!! A hint for rounds, a flag pole makes a great drying tower!! At Parker AZ 04JUL75 we were partyin, skydivin and waterskiin' and did a couple of H2O jumps. When we got back to the airport from the river, I hung up my 28' LL and 24' reserve to the dog hook for the flag on the flag pole and hoisted them up. In that "DRY AZ AIR!!" they were bone dry in 10 minutes!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  5. Hi DK, 'Can't answer all of em but (d.) was not 2 guys, the one riding is a girl. Can't recall her name but she was out at Perris about that time for a while.Brain just kicked in, guy was Brad girl was Lisa. (f) the DC-3 pilots I think the Guy was Mark of Mr. Douglas?/ and the lady was MJ . (j) lady kissing the camera was Nancy Doyal. (h) that scene appears twice and that was Sweet Sally (Wener) Callahan and tha guy in the white jumpsuit with the blue legstraps she docks on is "ME!!!!" (n) cutaway/Lo-Po was Jim Tyler and that was a Hank-Piglet!! I don't know about this "Ultimate Thrill" thing but originally that was "Freak Brothers Convention" by Norm Kent just wondering if it got a remake?? Filmed at "Freakport" and a few fillers from Perris and ?? Somewone posted a while back that Sally lives in Texas now. MJ the lady DC-3 pilot with the long black hair married Bob Butt from So. Ca. and they just reciently moved to Texas. Nancy Doyal passed away a few years ago from complications from diabetes, BTW we didn't call that "sit flying" back then, the proper term was "Freak Flying!!" As for "ME!!" I'm alive and well in NC!! 6. Hi RL, Short, sweet and to the point..."CURSE!!!!!" You got that right!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  7. Hi Skyjack, Lots of good info so far. Someone mentioned the Mossberg 20 ga. youth pump. I have a Mossberg mod 88 Mavrick 12 ga pump and it's sweet. The Moss youth 20 ga. pump would probably be a good one to look into. One thing about a Pump as a few others have mentioned is the intimitation factor of the sound of the action, and after you get some practice with it, cycling the action becomes "Automatic!!!!" 8. Were they really burqas? Or were they abayas, hijabs, or other conservative Islamic clothing? I suspect you were just using 'burqa' as short-hand/subsitution for all conservative Islamic dress. yeah, it looks like a mix of the latter two. In Oakland, it's a tube top. Hi kd, I like the part about the "tube top" in Oakland!!! A couple of Mardi Gras ago Peggy and I were in the Carrageway at Pat O'Brien's waiting to go into the Piano bar and 2 ladies walked by wearing "AIR BRUSHED PAINTED ON TUBE TOPS!!!!!" Those would definitely give any Burka a run for its money!! Could you imagine an "air brushed painted on Burka??" Hmmmmmm?? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out

Hi div, PP-SEL 06SEP79 about 200 hrs Took the Com and Inst written but didn't get to the check ride. VA $$ ran out. Aeroncca Champ, Citabria, Piper PA-17 Vagabond, Piper Tomahawk, Cherokee 160-180, Cessna 150-172. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  10. Hi Hack, Sorry to hear about the thievery! As someone mentioned about getting a new log and picking up from the last jump. When I log jumps I go into good detail, names, dates places, discriptions of the formations etc. Lots of my slower-to log friends come to me to borrow my books to play "Catchup!!" Go to yiour friends and ask to pick thru their logs to get your back jumps. You can probably document a good many this way. Good luck and.... SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  11. Hi Make it, Never mind the Scientology, if you want to be a better "Skydiving Instructor" (or Jumpmaster for that matter) try being a better Skydiver first!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  12. Hi Shah, 10-4 on that!! 'Just hope they don't slip and fall!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  13. Hi cheese, Couldn't get the screen to play?? Any way, be careful out there, there isn't a model airplane I've crashed that I havn't walked away from!! Beware now we're on the DHS "Watch list" as possible home grown terrorists!! They think we'll take our "Toy Airplanes" with explosives and crash them into the White house!!! 14. Hi SERE, Rocket Jets! OK as long as they held. They started getting a bad rap when some of them released on the pressure of opening shock!! That's when the center lock pin got added. If you like those, try to find some Koch fittings and Frost Fittings!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  15. Hi Than, 'Hit really don't matter, what ever ya' got but the cast iron skillet seems to get the best results! 'Specially ifn' at least 500 lbs of bacon been cooked in it and only wiped out with a paper towel as someone here said!! My wife has a skillet like that and it makes great corn bread!! Peggy also likes to make corn fritters or "lace corn bread" as Paula Dean made on her show. Good stuff all the way round or square!! 'Can't forget we have one of those corn stick cast iron trays too! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  16. Hi Than, And as every country boy would say,"Pi are not square, pi are round!! Cornbread are Square!!!" quote, "Brother Dave Gardner!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  17. That is scary ... if this means that the next time you'll find yourself between a rock and a hard place you waste precious time second guessing yourself, it's really scary. You did the right thing cutting away a canopy you didn't feel OK flying. I had my first and only cutaway as a student - jump #12 - to this day I'm not clear what it was (tension knots ?) ... the canopy was relatively square above my head, but I could only turn it in one direction and I couldn't keep it flying straight. I had a 1000 feet to work with it, I didn't know how to fix it, at got to 2,500 feet and I got rid of it. One of my former AFF instructors who was on the same load got to the ground and told everyone that I've cutaway a "perfectly good canopy" ... BEFORE I landed and I got a chance to say anything. THAT WAS NOT COOL either ... O Hi Oly, "Funny you should mention that!!" What looks like a "perfectly good canopy" to someone else sure can be somethin' else to our eyeballs up close and personal!!!!! If the canopy would only turn in one direction and you couldn't keep it flying straight, the canopy was not "perfectly good!!" You did good by your actions. Never mind the coulda', woulda' shoulda', you made a good decision at the time and executed it resulting in your "walking away" on the ground under your own power. The tast of "Cold Beer" at Green Light is a lot better than "hospital food"...that is if you could still be able to eat!!! Over the years I've seen lots of reserve deployments from what "Looked like perfectly good canopies!!" only to find out afterward there really was something wrong!! 'Had an old Django Dragonfly with about 1500 jumps on it rip a centercell lower seam from the A to the D line. It flew fine and wasn't sinking out too fast compared to the other canopies on the load so I figgured I'd land it. At the time Scare-us-valley had a nice big pea pit so I went for it "just in case!!" Well I landed OK but I sure sent the peas flying!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  18. Hi Ry, Thx, googled it too, found the vinal in my archives no turntable though. 'Just came to my mind when I saw the newscast of the election aftermath in Iran,...."Somethin' happening here....." SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  19. Hi Millertime!!< Thanks for the update. As I recall I heard it in the 60's somewhere in a purple haze but that's compliments of James Marshall and I think I'll have another hit of....Fresh Air!!! Think I have the Buffalo Springfield vinal in my archives, have to look. Buffalo who?? 'Forgot that's where Stills was before he got with Crosby and Graham etc. But it's about the song, get some TV footage of what's happening in Iran right now and play that song over the top. 20. Hi Dari., Break out yer' old Crosby Stills and Nash tunes.... "Something happenin' here, What it is ain't exactly clear, There's a man with a gun over there, Tellin' me I got to beware!........ The song was poignant when it came out and is today!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  21. Hi John, The real question is not about banning or not banning but why the ban and this ban at all??????? Somehow this whole trip smacks of nothing more than a CBP bureaucratic power grab with you and I on the short end of the stick. It's just a nicely worded attempt by the Nanny State to etch away at the 2nd Ammendment. Remember it's the Right to Keep and Bear Arms....Doesn't say what kind of arms, just arms, and knives are arms too!!!!! PS Already have my protest letter written to CBP and emails to congresspeople. 22. Hi TK, 'Yer Right On about the city/municipality hassle!! Ever heard of Hammond Airport, Louisiana!! Home to Louisiana Skydivers from Baton Rouge, Delta Skydivers from New Orleans, Southland Skydivers from Hammond and ultimately Southern Parachute Center started by Ben Seal Jr. and handed off to Leon and Prissie Riche. The DZ never saw the end of 1969. Even with the federal funding issue on our side, not having co-operation from the locals was the major point of contention. The airport is still there, there's a few FBO's, a CBP facility and a Nat, Guard unit but no Skydiving. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  23. Hi Jim, What you have there is probably a S/L pack for some kinda' airdrop package or bundle. When I worked for Scurvyirvin we went thru 3 moves, from Gardena CA to SantaAnaCA to RedSprings(Temp) and Hope Mills NC!! You shoulda been there when we dumped al the old test gear in the dumpster by the Container full!! Took a bunch of old test canopies to Elsinore and gave them to Slammer and they made party tents of em!! Threw away lots of old D-bags and stuff like you have. Too much fun!! Ask Howard White, maybe he knows!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  24. Hi Scratch, 'Remember the Sears Coveralls and dont forget the "comshawed" flight suit!! Cop one fron the surplus store or from a buddy in the military!! I copped a couple from some guys in my old CAP unit. The O.D. or Sage Green ones were OK but the international Orange ones were the head turners. They also had a bunch of pockets to stash things and a coolie pocket on the upper left sleeve to stash your cigarettes!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  25. Hi jc, Yup, you got it!! I get the same question and I say,"No, I was a Navy Parachute Rigger!!" The average whuff has no clue about skydiving, at least the "state of the art!!" We may as well be "Space Aliens" with our micro hi-speed canopies and turf-surfing tip-toe landings, "What no combat boots and klobber in clouds of dust!!!!??" As for the "Wings" I think they're classic and remind us of the the dream of manned flight. All the esoteric disciplines are cool but it's good to have a "common bond!"
