  1. Hi Lok, I know, I know but no matter how they wrap it, pack it , insur it, once the package leaves CONUS it's in "Foreign Hands" that we have no control over!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  2. Hi Bill, 'Ya left out the part about the Kool-ade packages being issued with the National Health ID Card!!..............I have only a one word comment to Barry about his plans.......(As Bill Cosby [as Noah] said to God about the impending Thunder showers....."R---I---G---H---T---!!!!!!") did you buy the "astroturff" line??? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  3. Hi Lok, What happened to yer' mags?? You live outside the CONUS, that's what. Just like when I worked for Grumman Aero in Iran back in '76, the Iranian govt nabbed them. Someone told us the Iran Skydiving club in Tehran had them!! Really cute. Just like when I was in the Navy over seas, Parachutist, what Parachutist?? Same and worse for Playboy mags. too!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  4. Hi Doug, Hey there's a 10 man meet next weekend, wanna go?? With Star Crest in hand the DZ group forms a "Team!!" packs up and heads off to the action. The first "Practice Jump" as a team is the first jump of the meet!! Lotsa' fun!! Got 6, maybe 8 and if they were really good they had the 9th man on wrists as they ran out of sky!! One "Team" was well practiced and popped out 10's back-to-back,...they won. Well to even up the odds, on Labor Day weekend at Old Elsinore there was the "SCR Scrambles" "NO TEAMS!!" everyone registered and their name was put in a hat. Someone then began pulling names and each group of "8" was a team. The "Meet" got to be known as the "Stumbles!!" and was a lot of fun!! You met new people , got some good dives in and the Saturday Night Party was a blast!! Still got a couple of the T-shirts in the archives. Anyone remember Grouper's Saturday Night Hawian Pig Roast, how about the co-ed night nekkid ground star around the bonfire??!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  5. Hi Doug and everyone else, Go over to the Air Trash web site www.airtrash.com and go to the "BLAST" page and read "History of Relative Work by Pat Works SCS-1." Lots of good stuff. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  6. Hi Doug, If yer' gonna' talk about the Star Crest, ya' gotta mention the BEECH 18. "THE TWIN BITCH!!" 'Held on the average 10 people maybe 11. If yer' gona do an 8 MAN, ya' gotta get at least 8 people up in the sky "way up there!!" in the same place at the same time. Cessna 170-172's were only good up to about 7500' and 4 people. Cessna 180-s and 182's were better but cost more! Along comes the Beech 18 and 10 MAN Speed Stars!! I remember on the average in the early 70's it took from 12500' all the way to break off at 3500' to get the "STAR!!" As skills got better, the stars got built higher, and as we looked across the star at each other with all this altitude left the question came out,"Now what do we do??" The answer,"Something else!" Thanks to the quest fo the elusive STAR, fueled by the quest for the elusive STAR CREST a brotherhood, a lifestyle, a culture "Happened!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  7. Hi Doug, "MY Official SCR dive was Jump # 431, 23DEC72 at Borderlands Air Sports Center, Otay Ca., outa' Mac's Beech I flew in pin on Jim Gerardin and everyone else came on in. I bought my case and everyone signed off on my SCR app. Got #2034. Somebody once asked me why I had so many jumps and had not gotten my SCR sooner?? Funny question so being the butthead that I can be I said well, "Bob B hadn't died yet!!!" Funny how that goes, 'Started jumping in Louisiana in '64. Fun jumps were 2-mans and an occasional 3 man outa' a Cessna 170-172 from 7500'!! Even after Bob "the Stud" Munn got the Howard DGA-15P (5+pilot) we never got a 5 man!! Got to So. Cal in '67 and 8 Man's were only being done by the "Elite" and us peons would grovel, grope and try as we might the "STAR" was elusive!! Time and trials and tribulations and experience finally paid off!! Thus the begining!! Every skydive tells a story! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  8. Hi didjata', Whadda' ya' askin' me for? Go ask Natty, shroppie and Dano why they posted???? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  9. Hi DZD, Type in "Closing Pin Necklace" up in the search box and search the forums if you havn't already. Check out my post to "casch" In "How do you use your Closing Pin Necklace?" 25SEP08. Last but not least, do a "Pin Check" on your rig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Walla!! a closing pin!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  10. Hi Roger, "Roger That!!" Too bad these "other" DZ's were showin' their geek side! Little do they remember that they were there once and probably not long ago!! 'Havn't jumped in a while because of a almost blown deltoid but I'll be back soon. Some of the new faces at the DZ will probably shun this "new guy" but they will be mildly surprised. "Hey buddy, how can I get one of those cool hats?" Too bad you weren't out at Raeford, we'd a' blown their socks off!! Back a few cases of Beer ago when I hung out in So. Cal. tryin' to get on "Good Loads" was sometimes a drag so I started jez' gettin' some friends together and organizin' my own. Got to the point where I couldn't even do a 4-way!!!! I was fillin' 4 Otters a Sunday afternoon!! It got so bad that DC-9 Pat said,"Hey Bill, you bring manifest at least 8 paid for tickets and your slot is on us!!" Are we having fun yet?? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  11. Hi sky, Nobody, who do you think yer' talkin to?? I'm a Skydiver!!! Just being a Skydiver intimidates the shit outa' whuff men!! (and most whuff women!!) As for other Skydivers, they're all assholes and I got them on my list!!! BTW, I can do E-A-B7 on the gitbox (or at least fake it real good) and .006" clearance on yer' intake and exaust valves on yer' VW per the John Muir "How to keep yer' VW alive for the complete Idiot" Manual. 12. Hi d_sq, Don't U mean English 100,....English 101 was the credit course, 'ya had to score at least a 65 on the intro placement test at SLC fall '63!!! English 100 was the remedial "no credit" for dummies course!! I made it into 101 as bad as I was in High School Eng. My friend Harry Hungate made it into the Honors English as bad as he was and when his High School English teacher fouind out they say she went into Hysterics!!!! 'Jez showz ta go ya'!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  13. Hi Guy'05, Funny thing you should mention that!!! 'Some years ago we had a guy that hung out at Raeford, claimed he "was" a Lcdr in the SEALS di-da-etc-etc long story, short answer----"FAKE!!!" Got info on the guy, go to Chuck and Mary Shantags' web site The P.O.W. Network http//:www.pownetwork.org and cruise on thru. They have a whole section devoted to exposing imposters, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, all of em' and any sub group, Seals, SF, POW's, U-Name-IT! It's bad enough when people just claim they're SF, Seals or what ever for a momentary barroombravado but when they start wearin' the uniform, (medals and all) hang pictures on their wall, make these claims to get jobs, AND USE THESE CLAIMS TO GET VETERANS BENIFITS!!!!!! the line is drawn in the sand!! Maybe your buddy is just a nickle/dime barrroom fake or maybe more?? Go check out P.O.W. Network and be blown away!! Our Raeford buddy is on their list, and, that list is "LONG" and it is "WIDE!!!!" Oh BTW!! If he says that your info is bogus because "They altered his identity because of all the 'covert' work he did and his present name is not his 'real' name" Guess What??? There's a few bridges for sale too!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  14. Hi shroppie, Any time is a good time to go to New Orleans but Mardi Gras is some of the best!! This coming is 16 Feb 2010. I hope to be there for a week or so before. My sister lives in Hammond just north of Lake Ponchartrain. Old Hammond airport was a real meca for Southern Skydiving back in the early 60's!! 'made my first jumps there!! 15. You know what? I LOVED the New Orleans coffee when I was in New Orleans. I brought some home but it just didn't taste the same. I think it needs to be consumed in New Orleans with begnettes. Hi tigra, 'Yeah I know what ya mean!! Maybe it's the water? Either way, it just gives 'ya another reason to visit New Orleans again.....Like maybe for Mardi Gras, this coming 2010 will be Feb 16 let the count down begin!! Meanwhile, another cup of coffee perhaps!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  16. Hi Shroppie, So you want coffee?? Well go to New Orleans down in the French Quarter to the Cafe DuMonde and get a "Cafe O'Lay" (that's how to say it) and some Begnettes (The little square puffed up french donuts) and enjoy!! For home brew I like Community Coffee "New Orleans Blend" with just a bit of creamer. Good stuff!! Somewhere back down the line I posted my Espresso Supreme but that's another story!! You want good coffee? 'Ya gotta go to New Orleans! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  17. In your deployment photo, what exactly is the bridle arrangement being used? Seems like an early retractable bridle system for those CRW jumps. Hi pchap, From the looks of opening 2, slider up and bridle stretch. My '76 model Strat wh/slider had a double bridle attached at the high point of cells 2 an 4 . Later everyone went to a single attachment point on the center cell on 5's, 7's and 9's. The double attachment point worked ok, maybe better than a single but it also involved "more material, metal and weight" that everyone was eager to trim down!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  18. Hi Newbie, If the plane is the same as the flicker photos, the "Wilga" it's a wilga. That's a Polish STOL capable light plane. There used to be one at Old Elsinore at the Glider port as a Glider tug. They're about as ugly as an A-10 but they fly fine. Funny with Europlanes, just as eruros drive on "the other side of the street," the props turn clockwise as opposed to our counter-clockwise!! so what you're saying is, you are driving on the left side of the road!? last time i checked, i drove on the right side.. but hey, i might have had my eyes closed.. Hi VB, Guess I should've added the perspective of looking at the plane from out in front as from the pilots' view from the cockpit!! Funny how that goes!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  19. Hi Gary, From silver handles to "pillows!!" Well cool and groovy! Just thinkin', found (2) ea. "BLAST HANDLES!!' in some gear stash and said,"Hmmmm!" They're from old rigs I had and got "replaced with cloverleaf type handles" back when everybody "Freaked out over 'em!!" As I recall I pulled blast handles on 4 mal cutaways "With no problem" because I pulled them correctly straight down instead of "side ways" which will prevent them from being disloged!! Think I'll replace my "D" handle with one of my old "Blast Handles" and watch the sparks fly at the DZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  20. Hi ozz, It's on your computer, cool, can you print it out?? If you don't plan on jumping anywhere other than your "home" DZ, no problem. Read Reginalds post about someone showing up at his DZ with no "Credentials!!" Your logbook, USPA card (or what ever country?) and signed off reserve data card are your "Passport" in this sport. If I was Reggy and someone showed up at my DZ with a rig, no credentials and wanted on the next load, I'd probably just direct him to the FJC!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  21. Hi Jimmy, I concur 100%!!! "At the very least" the dive is paid for by someone else, + "FREE BEER!!" "FREE FOOD!!" and "FREE COPIES OF THE DIVE VIDEO!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  22. Hi Newbie, If the plane is the same as the flicker photos, the "Wilga" it's a wilga. That's a Polish STOL capable light plane. 24. Hi s-q, Low 90's here, Sampson County NC. Nice and hot. Lots of thunder bumpers brewed up and kicked royal ass over west of us, thought we'd get pounded but they only skirted us. I wonder how Raeford did today, the Dragon probably twisted a few. My arm is finally getting up to snuff after I destroyed my right deltoid. Gotta go out and blow the rust off. When I do there'll be enough rust in the sky to start another ice age!!!!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  25. Hi Dust, Over in Scary Stories I posted the one about Jim Wilkins getting a key pulled on him at Old (late 60's) Elsinore in the Howard. Read it and weep!!.... It's even better to hear Jim tell the story especially when he has a pitcher of beer in one hand!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
