  1. Hi Andy, Simple, Cat. Ch gets its tax exempt status pulled!! PK simply rewrites the Church Doctrine and starts his own "spin-off" version. ,,,,,,Hmmmm???....History repeating itself!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  2. I met a woman - 32 years old, recently divorced, and moved back in with her mom. I called her up and her mom answered. "My daughter is not going to hang out at the skydiving place. You can kill yourself if you want. Call back when you quit that stupid sport." I plan on calling her back if I give up the sport. After all, I'll bet she still thinks about me... 15 years later. Hi HT, I Knew IT, I Knew It!!! Only thing is, how many of those whuffo chicks that turn us down don't say it to our face but for sure behind our backs!! Best weed em out before ya get AIDS...Altitude Induced Divorce Syndrome, its very expen$ive! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  3. Hi Nick, Sorry to hear.......my prayers are with you and yours. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  4. Hi ride, When....whuffo girls refuse to date you because they think you might get killed skydiving and therefore are a bad marriage risk!!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  5. Hi Annie, No P-38 or kamp-King hell 'ya gotta have a "Church Key!!" 'Ya know, what we usta use ta put those tri-angle holes in beer cans ta get the beer out!! That was before pull tabs and poptops!! 'Ya take a church key and make the first hole then move it over connecting the first hole with the next and next till ya get all the way round the can. Look out for the top when it comes off, those points are sharp!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  6. Hi Annie, 'Don't know about yer current predickament, maybe by now the beans are outa the can. For further consideration, get a "John Wayne" aka a "P-38" which ia the nickname for an old military "C-rats" can opener. 'Ya can still get em at gun shows and hardware stores or ask a vet or current military man or a firearms affectanido. Got one on my key ring, don't leave home without it!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  7. Hi Guy -05, Can you say,"I remember when?"....the "N-E-W-S" came on TV at 6PM and the Commentator read news strips from AP off the teletype?? Not anymore man!! 24 hr news, wx, sports, op-ed's you-name-it and in there somewhere is "Glenn Beck!!" Same goes today as once "I Remember!" hearing about John Cameron Swaze and Huntly Brinkly,"Their first job is to sell toothpaste!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  8. Hi M-L-C, Yup, good job. Had a similiar situation almost to the location of the hole on my old 1500+ jumps Dijango "Dragonfly." It was flyin' fine so I flew it into the peas at Scare-Us-Valley and landed. Gotta say I'm glad I landed in the peas as the hole was dumping some air!! Similar to your sitruation I'd hate to have cut away and spent the rest of my life trying to get my reserve out!!! Know what I mean?? Even if the landing would have been a buttslider or p-l-f-er I'd rather be buyin' beer at the bar and tellin' my,"No shit thereIwas!" story than makin' a crater or endin' up in ICU!! One thing for sure, 'ya got a hole, your sink rate has increased!! Be careful on figgurin' out how much!! One thing about tears, once they stop tearing, they stop. They happen at max pressure at opening. They probably won't continue unless you have some really bad fabric!! Remember that 2 things that you had on your side this time were "Time" and "Altitude!!" Use them both wisely!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  9. Hi 99999 and all, Cookbooks? Hmmmm.. I've only aquired 2 or 3 +some of Grandma's stuff, my sister has the rest of the family stuff. My wife Peggy has all of them now along with her stash, a bunch!! "White Trash Cooking" you say, funny thing you should mention that!! Lou Land, all you old fart So. Cal jumpers know Lou, gave me a "White Trash Cooking" for Christmas some years ago!! Good ole' Earnie Mickler did a goodie when he published that book!! I got "White Trash Cooking II" also and is a great follow up to the first one. If 'ya see either one on the shelf in a book store, pick it up and thumb thru it....you'll probably take it home!! 10. Hi Jim Dunn!!!!!!, Welcome home buddy!! Wher'yat??? Give me a call or send an email!! SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  11. Hi Fast Ed, Cool Beans! Back a few cases of beer ago when I was an active JM and I (both S/L and AFF) I had several FJ Students that had never rode in an airplane prior!! Not that they didn't want to but it just never occurred. They didn't react any different than FJ Students that had ridden in an aircraft prior. 'Ya gotta remember that the whuf yelling the "Stupid Idiot" thing is loaded to the gills with "FEAR!!" Making the decision to jump is fearful enough but with training we seem to get a handle on it. More jumps, more training and the fear factor diminishes. Somewhere back when, there was an article in Parachutist (somewhere in '64-'65) titled "Straws in the wind" trying to "explain" this thing we do. As I recall the author quoted that the motto of I believe the (Canadian) Royal Airforce Parachute School was,"Knowledge Dispells Fear." 'Don't know if that'll help the Stupid Idiot yellin' whuf very much though. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  12. Hey SnakeDog, Score?? Forget it! Whuffs saying to you (or me),"Only 'Stupid Idiots' jump out of airplanes!," has absolutely nothing to do with I.Q.! To the average ground bound whuff, getting any higher than the second floor or the buzz off a joint is for "Stupid Idiots!!" The "Fear of Flying," is everywhere. Why do you think there are so many bars in airports?? The average whuff is scared shitless of flying and has to be drunk as a skunk to get on an airplane because it's the only way they can get from point A to point B anymore. The Boat don't go there. How many people do you know that absolutely "Refuse" to Fly anywhere?? They'll walk, take the bus but FLY!! NO WAY... and jumping out of a plane?? You have to be kidding?? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  13. Hi f-f, Funny how not much has changed over there in 33 years, Skydiving wise anyhow!! 'Was there in '76 working for Leroy Grumman's Airplane Co. The Shah had a Royal Iranian Skydiving Club in Teharan but it was a very far cry from Skydive Perris!! All for show!! They had planes and rigs, and a "Club House" but skydives were few and very far between!! Myself and my wife Chris and Paul Ross and Lee Sewell from Bell Heli. fenagled a IIAF Huey to do a 4th of July demo for the Grumman-Bell 4th of july celib. in Isfahan in '76. We did several practice 4 ways till Paul tossed out his elbow on a bad ldg. Me, Chris and Lee did the demo. To this day I maintain that we hold the record for the largest freefall formation in Iran!! 14. Hi npg, Bud Abbot,"Who's on First?" Lou Costello,"Yes!" and it takes off from there. Who's on First, What's on Second, I-don't-Know's on Third!! Dr. Dimento would get requests for this piece of "crazy comedy" as he would call it usually during the Baseball season of course!! Ole' Bud would sure get his dander up yelling at Lou. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  15. Hi b-f-d, If I had a scanner I'd copy and send you photos of "MY" aug 1966 issue of "Sky Diver!" Perhaps some old fart out there has the issue and the puter tools to do the job?? Unfortunately, Jim Godwim passed some years ago, don't know about Skeet White?? Perhaps some old farts from Paragator Land have some photos. Perhaps an offer of some "Beer!!" will loosen their memories!!!!?? PS. Lyle Cameron Jr. still resides at the old homestead in So. Cal and Skydives with Air Trash at PVA. Last I talked to him, he still has the old SkyDiver Mag archives from his dad. SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  16. Hi b-f-d, Get a copy of the Aug 1966 edition of Lyle Camerons' old Rag,"Sky Diver." The front cover says it all!! The article on Paragator Land shows Jimmy Godwin and Skeet White exiting by kneeling down just at the leading edge of the wing, working their way out to the tip and "leaning over and going under the wing tip!!!" Jeff Russell had some 8mm movies of the action he showed us back when at a Southland Skydivers meeting. "It don't get much better!!" SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  17. Hi Andy, Funny how that goes. I guess they'll reject me outright!! I have 3 screws in my right ankle and a bunch of other stuff. BTW I was 64 on my last B'day Anyway, back in '65 when I was just 20, the local draft board sent a bunch of us guys down to N.O. to get tested, sort of a "pre-screening." Remember, this was '65, the Indo-Chinese war was going on and most of the people here at DZ.COM weren't even born yet!! Well, I don't remember the exact numner of guys that showed up that morning, about 50 or so, 2 or 3 got axed right there for major physical stuff. A couple more just got married the night before. (this was when they were only drafting "single" guys!) and the rest of us got to go to New Orleans. Out of about the 40 or so, about half flunked the physical, some of them I thought for some pretty minor shit. I was in the group that "Passed!!" Last thing was we had to sign off on some form saying we were not involved with and they had a long list of "organizations devoted to the overthrow of our Constitutional form of Government!!" Before the guy gave out the form, the looked at us across the room and said,"You gentlemen are perfect physical specimins!" BTW, there was no "Group W Bench." Funny how things change, just a bit less than 2 years later 05DEC66 when I joined the Navy (same place, Customs House at the end of Canal St. in N.O.) they drafted a blind guy even though his seeing eye dog had a flat foot!!!!! 18. Hi Bill Cole!! Happy B'Day Dude!! Love reading your posts of Daze Gone By, reminds me of my own!! Made my first Jump at Hammond Airport, La. on 08MAY64 with Southland Skydivers outa Milt Nobels Cessna 170. 20. Hi hy, 'Yer guess is as good as mine?? Don't know. Lots of variables; the economy, "the move," personnel changes, take yer pick and add more!! Wanna heat up the debate?? Try "Skydiving is a Capitalist business model trying to make it into what's becomming a "Socialist Economy!!" Just a 2cent thought. SC here we go!! Maybe Barry will take over the business and "redistribute" Javelins to everyone!!!! "This a Joke, another Chicken Joke!!!" (LaughIn!!) SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  21. Hi hy, Sorry, I really have to laugh....After all these years,....I really think you'll never really understand. At this point in time in your development, the trip is a bit too esoteric for you to comprehend. I've worked in both ends of the "Parachute Rag Trade" Aerospace and Sport and as for the people that work in it "And" the "customers" one thing for sure about both...."BIG EGOS!!!!" Got that?? SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
  22. Hi Fall, Hmmm??? So how do you "increase their production??" Hire more people, buy more sewing machines, buy more material, got $$$!! Just getting "Competent" people is a good start!! Find someone to work and "sew a straight line" first! Welcome to the wonderful world of "Cut-N-Sew Rag Shop!!" I've worked a bunch, from major Aerospace (McDonnell Douglas ACES II) to hole in the wall joints (Paranetics, South ElMonte,CA). Sunpath was bigger.
