  1. Had gone to Starbucks near Von's in Lake Elsinore this morning. From up on Grape St. I could see the improvements on the land for the new homes. The area for the homes is so close to the lake already. The area still appears very near the lake level. It just does'nt seem worth it to build up 'islands' to put homes on.
  2. Is your Lab sneaking out on dates? Maybe your pup is on a diet trying to maintain the slim figure!
  3. Good deed! Well done! Hope that li'l lab is having a great New Years Day! Thanks to you and some good folks in Beaumont Tx!
  4. So true. Desperation is natural i believe, especially when a girl becomes unhappy with the man they percieved as 'better', or they aren't having much luck finding Mr.'better', or they are just plain old horny.
  5. Ya...the nice guy let's just be friends, now pay my beer tab stage. Been there still there. Replace that stage with a stage,a pole,a beer in one hand, dollar bills in the other, a variety of mostly naked girls, and the party is ON. Have a good time.
  6. I'm hearing you dude. Since breaking up with a nice woman turned mean of 4 years i've had x's that located me. One was sooo happy to see me I was'nt ready to see her. It was hi,hug, too busy to hang out, bye. I owned a van when i left her. The evening I left that bitch went off and jumped into the van through the drivers side window as i put the van in drive(window was down). It just got nutty for a bit there till i could drive away. So when i saw her again I was like 'are you kidding me' can you say pspspspspsychoooooo! Done! I was done then and still DONE! Then there was the nice pretty eating way too many pills and let her self go ex. Could'nt do it. For me it seems that once the girl has become an ex, there are hardened reasons why she is an ex.
  7. What do you want to hear? Neither one is safe. BASE./SKYDIVE. and SAFE. Do not belong in the same sentence. BASE,Skydive, and Blue Skies Black Death! Now that's more like it!
  8. If youd like you may add D-17699. Had a round as a reserve, never used the reserve. Have a save on a round. Packed several. Gonna service some rounds next week.
  9. Duh. The dropzone itself consists of mostly trailers capable of being towed out of there in case a flood comes. It will flood again. Someday those who live in the flood plain with boats can water ski in their front yard, literally.
  10. Ohh Soooooo dirty! Some with holes in 'em! Some walking with some bloody scrapage too. Some walking away soaking wet! Been there on a few occasions! Still walking!
  11. Thank riggerrob You are exactly right. One raw end goes thru the hardware and the other end terminates shortly after wrapping the mlw. To break the cheststrap stitching at the mlw it must have had a peeling action during the deployment. Q:Do you think the user had done an extra wrap around the mlw then thru the hardware to cause that?
  12. Ya Skybytch! Beginning at a Cessna Dz where people hung out and spent the night in the DZ floor, bonfires, talking black death, and such was also a great learning experience. We dreamed up the 'what if' sceanario's. I'd usually be the fella trying the wicked things out. Learned much with the cruislite 220, including ,turn rates, front riser dives, crw, swooping, stalls, helicopter, spinning stalling things, nose over stalls, how to fix a line over, and much more.It became like a freak show/ air show everytime i jumped. Shortly after landing spectators would commonly say 'thats crazy'. Soon the name crazy was added to my first name mostly for the crazy aerial stunts. This began right at 100 jumps. 100 jump wonder? ever heard of that?
  13. You got the right idea bro! Baby steps! Get used to the 90's, double fronts. As time performing these manuevers will increasingly make these manuevers second nature. Then combine the two moves closer together beginning higher. With each time you try a 'new trick' for landing, I believe it is good to plane out a little higher than you'd like, then as time performing this 'new trick' you will then come closer to your targeted area by using more effort and/or lowering your pinnacle point ,where you start your manuever. Give yourself plenty of room to overshoot your intended landing area.
  14. Death comes from above and behind!
  15. Congrats Chris, Sound like a great combo of fliers. Best o' luck!
  16. Skills camps are a good way to get SOME skill. Skills camps are also a good way to meet others ,such as coaches and people of similar interest. Skills camps usually cost less than coaching for your entertainment dollar.Chris F puts on a great skills camp at Elsinore, has been for 3 or 4 years there now. If I were you I'd be there!
  17. Swooping, pumping brakes. Check out some vid of the accuracy portion of rescent swoop events. You may see several unusual ways of flaring and flying then what the general skydiver would do or see, including pumping, stabbing, pull one down let the other go, smooth flow, single handed flare, no hands flare, hard turn in flare, and so on. Also check out the PLF landings while your at it. These guys get away with alot of bodily brutality. Very seldom does a swooper in an event, not walk away.
  18. I believe the Crickett reserve works great. Landing them over the 'recommended weight' I believe will be like landing a 22' round @ 180 #'s if you get my drift.PLF,PLF, If I ever find myself under a Micro Raven 120, I hope there is a pond, soft plowed field, pea pit, trees, to land in.
  19. Summer '04 a fella brought me a Parafun or Parafin rig. 1st I had seen one , the chest strap stitching was totally ripped apart on the long side. I was told the person stayed in the rig. Believed to be a misrouted chest strap. Routed around MLW then to hardware. The rig was grounded till more info was presented. As far as I know the rig is still on the ground.
  20. Good job.Sounds like you are going through what i would consider, the proper channels, to resolve your gear issue. Best of luck. Kuddos to your rigger for his/her rigging expertise.
  21. QuotePumping the brakes - after you flare too high - is done to amuse yourself until impact. Agreed, have did the pumping the brakes to amuse myself before impact. Have had the situation of planing out too high going really fast to then have lost the majority of the forward speed which would have been transfered to lift and did the TM pump surge thing along with a PLF in hopes of walking away from such a stupid act. It worked. Would'nt suggest it as a sport jumper.
  22. Amen bro! Have experienced many 'overstuffed' rigs. One of the resulting problems is tuck flaps just don't tuck as well, stiffeners warp and break. Having dealt with a gear store that would regularly allow a person to buy the absolute largest canopies for the smallest container, I have also dealt with the repairs due to packing 10 lbs of s*** in a 5 lb bag. One of my favorites is a complete Aerodyne rig with Aerodyne canopies and all. Will they ever get the canopy/container pack volume figured out?
  23. 3 in 5730 jumps. The last one i warned the 4 way team I was shooting that i was having wierd feelings of a mal so track long and hard. It happened 2 jumps later. Could'nt tell you why i had the notion.
  24. 120 days, that's it. each rig i service I like to have the main as well. The main components get thrown out at 120 mph and wear much more than the reserve. I have definately pulled apart zp fabric that was stuck to itself from being packed too long. It is rare. Brand new ZP tightly packed for 4 months will more than likely fall out of the bag as a 'brick'.If you have a questionably packed main, repack it. Packing a main takes less time than packing the reserve!
